• [fancypost bgcolor=transparent; bordercolor=transparent; width: 470px; font-family: georgia;]Greed took a spot outside of the skyscraper that The Ascended called home. The tower loomed overhead, and the ebony seventh tier took a spot away from the wall. "Training session," he simply stated, loud enough for anyone near to hear.

  • Slicedpaw padded over to the Greed and meowed, curtly, "I'll train with you. "The tom instantly got ready before the bigger cat to strike or decline his offer. Normally a trainee would train with others of the tier, but Slicedpaw wanted to fight against some cat of higher ranking. With his tail twitching as he waited patiently, the silver tabby sized Greed up. He was either going to get crushed or he was going to get praised for skill. Also you could call him stupid and cocky for thinking he could take on a higher tier member, but he wasn't backing down after he said he would.

ic: Well, it was about effing time. Smiling grimly, Venusflytrap padded over to the pair of toms, seafoam eyes flickering with amusement. The Fifth Tier's pelt was freshly groomed, having just rinsed the flaming fur of the prisoners' stench.

"If you want, I'll supervise. Or I can instruct with powers." Her voice, melodious but filled with a cold haughtiness, was directed at Greed.

  • [fancypost bgcolor=transparent; bordercolor=transparent; width: 470px; font-family: georgia;]"You can do either. I don't mind," Greed replied to Venusflytrap, another one of his lithe grins playing across his face. He averted his green eyes to look at Slicedpaw and his expression fell into a dark frown. The ebony tom's ear twitched at the younger cat's curt and short tone. Much like the 'paw, Greed had his own ideas about taking on a higher ranked member. "You can train under me," the seventh tier corrected him, a sharp edge in his smooth voice.

He got up from his sitting position to look at the cat. "Trick me," he ordered Slicedpaw. "Venusflytrap, could you watch him from the side for me? I want you to tell me what he does before he attacks," Greed leaned over to the femme and lowered his voice for only her to hear, his query slipping out of his maw in a hushed tone. He pulled away and adjusted his paws into a ready stance, ready for Slicedpaw's asssault.

ic:The red and white tabby flicked an ear at the Trainee's impertinence. Tilting her head to listen to the hushed tones in her ear, a small smile fluttered to rest on Ven's face. She grinned darkly and nodded to Greed, trying to establish a mental link between herself and the ebony tomcat. Testing, one two three, she meowed mentally, trying not to laugh. The Fifth Tier moved to watch the two toms from the side, eyes flicking over both their pelts. Slicedpaw was being trained in a slightly sloppy way, she could see. But Greed was a decent soldier - like she had been before she was promoted.

  • Redvelvet stepped out of the camp, his eyes watching the session. The tom sat near by, but didn't speak. It was always good to learn more.

  • Jakous

Padding quietly to the edge of the group, Jakous looked on, saying nothing. Finally, the tenth tier thought, This could be my first opportunity to train. The four moons old trainee chose not to interrupt just yet; instead he sat silently, bright green eyes watching the proceedings with interest.

  • Slicedpaw nodded at Greed for allowing him to train with him. Still he was a bit sloppy with fighting and only then did he start to think that maybe he shouldn't be doing this, but he wasn't backing down now. Getting into a comfortable, but decent fighting stance, Slicedpaw dashed forward at Greed. Greed had said to trick him and that was what he was going to do. Racing at Greed's left, Slicedpaw was going to take advance of his small size and speed against Greed.

  • [fancypost bgcolor=transparent; bordercolor=transparent; width: 470px; font-family: georgia;]Greed twitched his ears in recognition at Venusflytrap's voice ringing in his head. Typical telepathics.

Focusing on the task at hand, he wasn't so impressed with Slicedpaw's display. It seemed that once the tenth tier charged at him, the smaller cat was relying on speed and his smaller size. Little did the tom know that Greed had killed rattlesnakes for his hunt. Fighting small and quick things were his specialty. The seventh tier simply stepped to the side, letting the cat dash past him if he stopped in time to turn. "I have absolutely no idea where you were going with that," his ebony jaws parted to let the words fall out. Green eyes flickered over the feline and they narrowed at him menacingly.

  • Slicedpaw grinned as Greed turned around. Slicedpaw raced in a wide ark to face him once more. Of course he was only testing Greed's speed and skill. He was good. Very good. And he felt doubt flicker in his mind at being able to beat him, but he was going to be stubborn and keep going. "It may seem pointless to you, but it is not. "was all that he said before kicking off toward the 7th tier once again. This time taking some speed off and dashing left and right as he neared Greed. I'm not going to win..... but I'll keep going. I might just trick him, he thought. Slicedpaw was about to do something he developed on his own. He called it Slice Ark. He wasn't sure if he could pull it off considering he wasn't that great of performing his own move.

  • [fancypost bgcolor=transparent; bordercolor=transparent; width: 470px; font-family: georgia;]Greed almost snorted, and he stood there to watch the trainee dash around like a rabbit who had gotten a concussion and was trying to hop but miserably failing. The tiersman marked the cat's attempts off as purely futile. He heaved a disappointed sigh at the cat. "If you're going to do something, make it quick. If you take this long with an enemy in battle, you'd already be dead," Greed meowed, impatience lacing his voice.

    ;;rushed

  • Slicedpaw grumbled, but then made his move. He arched back toward Greed, but this time he attempted to slash his side as he passed. If he missed he'd just stop and bat with his back paws.

  • [fancypost bgcolor=transparent; bordercolor=transparent; width: 470px; font-family: georgia;]Finally he does something, Greed thought before taking Slicedpaw's short closeness to his advantage, dodging his flailing paws, then slipping under the tom and aiming a hard kick up at his stomach before sliding back out again. "Regla numero uno," he slurred in a bit of Spanish, translating to 'Rule number one', "Keep your attacks short. Your moving around can confuse someone, yes, but after a while can predict you. If you're going to strike keep it fast and powerful," Greed advised the younger cat, focusing on him again.

  • Slicedpaw staggered back and panted as he tried to get air back. He'd remember that. Quick, fast, and short.... Got it.... he thought as he tried to recover before Greed would strike once more. Sliced moved in quick bounds toward him again. Maybe he could stop short and pounce on top of him? They'll have to work because right now he had to find some opening.

  • Jakous

I have a lot to learn, Jakous thought, transfixed. At the same time, he couldn't help but think that he could do better than the other trainee. It was a natural thought process to think that he would be better, but even knowing this, he still believed he was better. I'm quick and fast, the small tenth tier thought as Greed advised Slicedpaw. As the other trainee began a new plan of attack, Jakous stepped forward into the ring that seemed to have formed, asking, "May I train under you as well?" He posed the question politely, humbly, remembering how the training session had started, but he held his head high and widened his stance in challenge.

  • [fancypost bgcolor=transparent; bordercolor=transparent; width: 470px; font-family: georgia;]Greed tore his gaze away from the other trainee before nimbly stepping aside to avoid Slicepaw. He looked over to the interrupting cat, and another lithe grin appeared on the ebony tom's face. "Well, of course," he replied to the younger feline. "At least you have some manners." The seventh tier added the last comment quietly to himself. "You can show Slicedpaw what you've got, and I'll observe and advise you as you go along with Venusflytrap here." Greed finished after a moment of thought. This one seemed to have more of a complicated thought process than the other trainee, and he was interested to see how well he handled practicing with Slicedpaw.

  • Jakous

Nodding both in thanks and out of respect to the seventh tier, Jakous faced Slicedpaw, green optics sliding over to size up his new opponent. Speed would be his best friend here, as the little grey tom had no size advantage, and little prior experience. Waiting for the other trainee's acknowledgement and unsure whether he needed Venusflytrap's approval to go ahead, Jakous began moving in a small, slowing circle, alert, but not yet attacking. Instinctively, he dropped slightly into more of a crouch, glancing at Greed to see if the higher ranking tom seemed to approve.

  • [fancypost bgcolor=transparent; bordercolor=transparent; width: 470px; font-family: georgia;]Greed nodded his approval, the lithe smile still playing across his maw. He thought that this trainee had more common sense than the other. Definitely his favorite out of the bunch.

IC~ Slicedpaw stopped as another trainee came. Greed had passed him once more and now he suddenly had a new opponent. Maybe he could win. Ok.... this one thinks. I go on instinct. This is gonna suck........ No no think too. You need to learn to think sometimes..... Ok no sixe difference. I have speed, but I'm partially drained.... Distance. Have to keep distance from him and then adjust, he thought. Looking at the trainee and giving a nod of accepting his request to challenge him, Slicedpaw also circled with him, but more in a defensive way. He felt that his best choice was to be on defense to regain some of his speed and energy.

  • Jakous

What's his plan? Jakous wondered, having received the okay to go. Focused on every move the other trainee made, the younger tom searched for a weakness. He had only been in a fight once before, and he hadn't been prepared. The painful experience had taught him the benefit of thinking before doing. At the same time, he sensed he had to be fast; Slicedpaw was surely stronger, and getting beaten up before even landing a paw on the other trainee would be painful and humiliating.

Preferring to attack first, Jakous dropped his stance further, still circling, and waited. When he thought he saw an opening, he leaped. He hoped to get in a quick swipe to Slicedpaw's flank or shoulder. As he was carried through the air by his velocity, the tom swore, feeling the off-balance of his jump. From here, his reaching paws couldn't get a good touch on the other trainee. His legs were short, and he scrabbled at the other trainee, grazing Slicedpaw's pelt, but not getting a real scratch. If he landed untouched, he would be more careful next time; if not, then he'd better think fast about how to save an otherwise lost sparring match.
