The fawn tabby pointed tom gasped loudly as the cool mountain breeze forcefully hit his pelt. Luckytwist had ventured away from camp, and his duties, to gaze over the vast scenery of the valley below their home. Sure the mountain was great and all, but he had heard great tales of the land below. How lushly the grass grew and how soft it was beneath a cats pads, how warm breezes flowed through the wildflowers and how there was a warm pond with wild ducks and colorful fish. But alas, the tom was stuck on this mountain face, only slightly making out the snow covered valley.
Mouse dung! Maybe the tales were lies, or maybe the world below had been frost-bit like their mountain had forever been. No. It was only leafbare as all the other clans he had heard of called it. Here, leafbare was all year around. Ugh, he hated the way that unfamiliar word sounded in his head. Okay, he was gonna stop thinking that now.
Luckytwist's grey blue eyes flicked in anticipation at the thought of leaving the home of his clan, Blizzardclan, to find a new home in the valley. Almost as soon as the thought touched his mind, terrible thoughts did as well. How would he make the journey? How will he survive the cold? Sure it was cold up here, but scaling the mountain with no shelter would be even colder. Who would dare stand up to their leader and say profoundly that they were leaving. Yes, they. He was not leaving alone and like a coward without announcing it.
He sighed and shook the thought from his mind,"Just an old kit dream," he chuckled to himself. He would never leave the clan. But,he only thought that to assure himself, not others.
