  • Lesson learnt, clan cats often weren't fans of foxes. Maple sighed, her breathe forming a frosty puff of air. The snow weighed down her paws and the cold air felt heavy on her pale russet pelt. As she inhaled, the frosty air chilled her lungs. But still, her spirits were rising again. She was away from the cats for now, this was fox territory. Hopefully her own species would be a bit more welcoming, she had been traveling in this weather too long for her personal comfort.

"Hello?" She called, raising her head slightly. "Is anyone there?" Her words made a small cloud as they left her mouth, thanks to the cold weather. If anyone was there, they probably wouldn't answer, and there might not be anyone there in the first place. Maple just felt it was right to check. Maybe there was a fox who wasn't quite so hostile hanging around.

  • Jodie bounced along, her dark ginger coat ruffled up against the cold breeze. Her green eyes twinkled. She was excited...as usual. For nothing, really. She felt energy surge within her as she leaped over a fallen tree. Suddenly, her ears pricked and she stopped dead in her tracks. She could've sworn that she'd just heard a voice. Cocking her head, she called out a loud, "Hellooooooooo?"

  • The pale ginger fox listened, and sure enough there was a voice on the wind. She trotted in it's general direction, keeping an eye out for cues of anyone being there. Maple wasn't usually very cheerful, but finally being in fox territory put the vixen in a bit of a better mood; perhaps this would be a turning point of sorts. Her luck had been terrible thus far. "Anyone there?" She called, if only to confirm the fairly certain fact that she was, indeed, not alone.

  • Jodie smiled as she heard another voice. "Hey, there!" she called, starting to bound towards the source.

  • The vixen noticed the other fox approaching and cracked a smile. "Hello." She said once more, walking up to her with a faint swing of her tail, trudging through the snow. "Name's Maple. I'm a bit of a traveler; it's good to finally make here." She explained. Might as well try to start a conversation, the fox thought. "What's your name?"

  • The little vixen puffed out her chest. "I'm Jodie! Nice to meet 'ya, Maple!" Suddenly, her green gaze grew slightly dark. "You haven't happened to see another fox around here, have you? Like...a white vixen, perhaps?"

  • "A... white vixen?" Maple chuckled. "Sounds like they would blend into the snow." Well, there was someone in her head. Better make sure. "Did run into one, though, on the way here. Was it an albino, or just a white fox?"

  • "Just a white fox..." she murmured, glancing around. "You see...she might be trying to find me...."

  • "Well, she seemed like she was in a rush, but she was traveling in the wrong direction if she was trying to find you." Maple blinked. She wondered what this fox did to warrant having another fox on her tail, but that was probably a personal question. Anyways, it wasn't any trouble to her to tell Jodi about the white vixen, so she did just that. "Assuming that was the same fox; the white vixen should be heading south for a while."

  • Jodie let out a loud guffaw. "HAH! I knew she wouldn't be able to find me!" Turning back to Maple, she grinned. "Thanks! So..." she began awkwardly. "Wanna do something? I mean, I'd understand seeing as we'd just met, and I'm kinda too loud and maybe annoying. She always says that I'm too boisterous when it comes to others, and then I should tone it down a bit. But everyone always finds me far too loud to their liking, I suppose. I mean, all the others do that. Usually I can predict what their reactions would be, but you're so nice! I mean, not that you're predictable, I didn't mean that! I just...AH! I'm going to shut now!"

  • Maple blinked again at the barrage of words thrown at her, trying to catch what Jodi was saying. Well... one thing at a time. "You said that maybe we should do something?" The vixen was pretty sure the energetic fox had said something like that. "I'd be alright with that, not sure what to do though."

  • Jodie smiled. "I know! We could um...um...I could show you around, seeing as you're new here!" A breeze blew past her, and suddenly she stiffened, her green eyes growing wide. Her eras laid back, and she gulped. "Uh oh."

As soon as the words left her mouth, and white vixen appeared behind a rock, her dark blue gaze menacing. "Jodie..." she growled.

  • "Huh. Thought she'd still be heading south." Maple tilted her head. This fox was smarter then she'd have thought, and that could be dangerous. The pale ginger vixen wasn't the best fighter, she'd admit, and started to hope this wouldn't end in a battle... though she knew that would be pushing her already bad luck. "Well... you got a plan, Jodi?" And what'd she do to get this fox on her tail, anyways...?

  • Jodie suddenly got a mischievous look on her face, and turned to flash the white vixen a goofy grin. "RUN!" she laughed, speeding off through the forest. Hopefully, she could make it to the creek before Elsa could catch up.

  • Unsure what else to do, Maple raced after Jodi. She didn't dare to look back at the white vixen as she ran as fast as she could. She couldn't find the words to say that the fox would catch up sooner or later; so she decided to save her breathe, darting as quickly as she could.

  • Jodie giggled as she ran, leaping over fallen trees and branches. Making sure that Maple was following, she barked, "Follow me! She hates water! We could lose her there!"

  • She hated water? Well, that would have to do. She could probably find a way past the creek eventually, but it would buy them some good time nevertheless. ... Since when did I get dragged into this? Maple wondered. It didn't feel right to just leave Jodie, though, even if she would probably be fine without her help. The pale ginger vixen's paws slammed across the ground; there would be time for thinking later. For now, Maple charged after Jodie, hoping she had sighted a creek or river.

  • Jodie rushed through the trees, and felt her heart skip as the creek came into view. Just a few more paces...just a few...more...A weight bowled her over so suddenly, she didn't have time to cry out. She tumbled over the bank and fell straight into the shallow water. The white vixen yelped as the cold water splashed her coat, and Jodie sat up, sputtering.

  • With a running leap, Maple cleared the deepest part of the stream, clumsily landing in shallow water. It took her a moment to regain her footing, after which she turned to Jodie. "You okay?" She asked, pausing in her brief trip towards dry land. Then she cast a glance towards the now-wet white vixen and snapped, asking a question to which she didn't expect an answer. "Who are you, anyways?!"

  • Jodie shook out her pelt in slight frustration, although her eyes still held their excited gleam.

The vixen sniffed indignantly. "I'm Elsa." she replied, her gaze growing angry.
