  • "I-It's o-okay." She stuttered, her free hand was still shaking a bit even though the plane had smoothed out again. She had just barely noticed him blushing slightly before she squeezed her eyes closed afraid the plane would shake again. "I-I know I'm....I'm b-being childish....a-aren't i?" She asked quietly

  • "I'm the one who freaked out when the plane shook just a little," he said, "But a little bit, yeah," he teased with a smile.

  • Her eyes opened up at glare at him before she noticed him smiling which had her smiling slightly too. "What ever." She scoffed slightly before turning her head away. She was about to pull her hand away away from him and lift the blind when the plane shook once more, not as bad as the last time but this time she could see the flash from the lightning. She gripping his hand tightly and leaned her head down, she felt sick suddenly.

  • Daniel tensed and squeezed her hand, "Are you ok?" he asked as soon as the plane straightened out once again. He grabbed a barf bag and handed it to her.

  • Shaking her head weakly she took the bag and gripped it tightly "lightning storms terrify me." She whispered. Even though she felt like she could get sick she wasn't going too especially not on a plane. "I have bad memories with them." She added, her voice was weak and cracked every now and then.

  • She chuckled and looked up at him and shook her head "it's fine, when I was five my older brother locked me outside in a thunderstorm when our parents weren't home and our tree had caught on fire from a lightning strike. A few years later when I was eleven me and my brother were playing in the woods, playing tag I think and I was it and a storm came through and I got lost and I didn't know he had gone home." I said and ran a hand through my hair and glanced down to my lap "ironically last year he was struck by lightning and is in a coma." She said with a sigh

  • "Oh," Daniel said, "I'm sorry to hear it.My uncle Wilse died in a plane wreck, so I've always hated flying. And, for the record, I don't think your being childish for being scared of storms."

  • "I'm sorry to hear that." She murmured and blushed slightly "thanks Daniel." She said and took a breath, daring herself to peek past the blind and when she did she was relieved to see the sky turning grey which meant the storm was passing.

  • "I've always wanted a reason to leave the states. To kind of just forget everything I've been stressing about and relax. I mean I know this isn't exactly a vacation but I've never had an opportunity this good present itself before." She said with a shrug.

  • She looked at him in surprise, he didn't seem to have an accent and if he did it wasn't a strong accent. "What was it like to come to the United States?" She asked curiously. She had never met someone from so far away before.

  • "I came here when I was 14. After...certain events transpired. I was here with my father and my uncle Wilse and my cousin Ulrich. I didn't know much english, but once I learned, I learned fast, and I've been here since," He told her.

  • She didn't want to be too nosy and keep asking questions but she couldn't help it "why do you keep coming back?" She asked before her eyes widened "I-I'm sorry if that sounded rude!" She said quickly.

  • "Because," he said, "No one can just leave their home no strings attatched. I still have strings. I have memories, sure, some are bad, well, most are, actually, but I still never got to enjoy what a great place my home is."

  • Blinking a few times she glanced away before straightening up, the color had started to return to her face now "okay last question, I promise." She said and bit her lip with a frown "why did you allow me to come along?" She asked "I'm sure there were older more experienced teachers who could have gone, and I'm not even a teacher I'm just an assistant." She said with a pout

  • "Because, I can't stand all the other teachers that applied," he answered, "And I guess you're a bit annoying sometimes too, but you're alright. You don't call me sweetcheeks like Miss Francine."

  • She cringed ever so slightly when he said she was annoying and sighed "I'm twenty two Daniel, it would be extremely awkward if I called you sweetcheeks." She said with a small smile trying to lighten the awkwardness she was feeling. Glancing down she noticed their hands and pulled her hand away gently, her cheeks turning a light pink.

  • "Oh, er, sorry, I forgot," he told her, he could feel the conversation turning awkward, "I, um, I'm just going to um, I'll be right back."
He got up and walked down the aisle to the bathroom, the only place he could go. He just needed some space. Whenever things got uncomfortable, he would clear out and go away.
