Novapaw had just become an apprentice of the clan.His mentor was in the medicine cat den with a sickness so he had nothing to do.He slowly padded around the territory until he found a peaceful place.He sat down and looked around.

FoxCall wandered through the forest. He scented the air for any signs of prey but, scented nothing. He wasn't on any patrol so he needed some prey to show he was out of the camp for a reason. The pushed himself through a clump of brambles and found himself in a small clearing. He saw a pile of rocks and padded over. He jumped up onto the tallest rock and sat down. The faint sun shone on his red pelt and warmed him slightly.

Novapaw turned and saw a red tom.He stood up and padded over to him."Hello!"he said.

"Oh, Hi" FoxCall muttered. He looked at the apprentice and then looked around. He still tasted nothing in the cold air. He suppressed a shiver but continued to sit on the rock.

"I'm Novapaw!"the young apprentice said.

"Im FoxCall," FoxCall muttered. Why is this Aprentice out here anyway, FoxCall thought to himself. "Why are you out here, and where is your mentor." FoxCall mewed, staring at the Apprentice with a flicker of interest in his gleaming amber eyes.

"Longtree?He's dying and Moonlightrings didn't want me to be there"Novapaw said sadly.

"Im sorry about bringing that up." FoxCall admitted. He stared at his paws and then looked back at the Apprentice. "My brother died when I was a kit." FoxCall muttered to the Apprentice.

Novapaw nodded."I only just met my sister and never knew my parents"he said.

"So we have a little in common I see." FoxCall uttered. He scented the air and smelled a hint of mouse but, decided to wait. His tail twitched.

Novapaw nodded."Yep.Hey Foxcall, do you have an apprentice?"he asked.

FoxCall blinked in surprise. "No, I don't." FoxCall mewed. Don't tell me this Apprentice is going to ask me to be his mentor, FoxCall thought to himself. He lay down on the slightly warm stones and settled his head on his folded paws. He was tired but, awake enough to speak. His tail slowly stopped and lay on the stone like a stick on the ground. His whiskers twitched at the cold air whistling through his pelt.

Novapaw studied him."I know you!You were there when my sister found me!"he said suddenly, losing his train of thought.

"You finally figured it out." FoxCall meowed. He looked At NovaPaw for what seemed like moons to him. He thought for a moment and doubted it. He then thought of his mate. FoxCall sighed as he remembered her silver tabby fur and pale blue eyes. I can't get her out of my mind, FoxCall thought to himself. He paws tingled with anxiety but, he forced himself to relax.

Novapaw looked at the warrior."Do you want an apprentice?"he asked.

"Im not sure if I should have an Apprentice. I have other things on my mind." FoxCall meowed, looking at his paws. He did want an Apprentice but, he kept thinking of his old mate, PineHeart. He was too unfocused to become a mentor. He thought again about PineHeart and what he did to her. He sighed.

Novapaw nodded."Thought so"he said.He looked up at the sky.

"It's not you NovaPaw, It's me. FoxCall meowed quickly. He didn't want the Apprentice to think it was his fault. He looked at NovaPaw and followed his stare to the sky.

Novapaw was staring at a big thing flying in the sky./Is that an eagle?/he thought.It got closer and confirmed the type of bird.A golder eagle."Foxcall!"he said in a frightened voice.

FoxCall looked up at the eagle in the sky and lept of the rock. "Follow me!" FoxCall meowed quickly and bounded into the woods. He saw a hollow log and dashed off to its side waiting fo NovaPaw.
