Sat in the deafening world of silence Sweetkit mused, her mind a gently swirling whirl of wordless colours and pictures. She didn't know any vocabulary, any single word, and would probably be described as stupid, or hopeless, for in a world where the skill of tongue was just as important as claw, she was powerless. Powerless and innocent, without a care in the world, shielded from the harsh reality by her family.
Friends... didn't really exist, sadly, because she couldn't communicate, couldn't find things out, or reveal things. She didn't know her own name, or anyone else's name, or... Or... Or anything. She was dumb, uncertain, and had never spoken a word in her life. Or heard one. And although she understood that lip moving was communicating, she... She didn't know what it meant. She just didn't know.
But somewhere in her mind, Sweetkit knew she was different. There was always that green tinge of rejection in her mind, of difference, and she knew she would never be normal as long as she couldn't hear. But it was ok, because she'd never heard, and it wasn't like this was anything different to the norm... Maybe being odd was ok. Maybe. Maybe there was nothing wrong, other than the fact that her balance was off, and she didn't understand. It was a... Rather major hindrance, but she'd have to make do.
Sweetie had no other choice.
The kitten was settled down at the edge of camp, her eyes closed, her flanks rising and falling in peaceful acceptance. With her, there was no need to block out the noise - an asset, maybe, yes - but it got a little lonely, sometimes. Her natural instinct was to look for sound, and though she didn't know what that was, she knew she didn't have it. So she lay, curled up, and cracked a baby blue eye open (the one that could see) and looked around, watching the people go by.
