  • The King waited until all the girls were seated, then started. "As I'm sure you are well aware, you all are turning sixteen in approximately a month. This is usually the time where young ladies are reintroduced to their societies, but as ladies instead of girls. Since you are all princesses, I was planning to hold a ball for each one of you to reintroduce you to the land, and to brim potential husbands to the land." He said, clearly proud of his idea. "There will be one a month, starting with you, January, and ending with you, Little December." He said, patting his blind daughter on the knee.

December immediate hated the idea. A ball in my honor? Twelve balls? LITTLE December? This has wrong written all over it. And what about Kronus? He isn't going to let this slide

  • The other girls all nodded, some murmuring their agreement while others made it loudly vocal. January shot a glare at May, annoyed that the other girl had taken her leadership role. Jan nodded once an said, "excellent idea, Father. We will begin preparing immediately."

The King nodded and stood. "Be excited, girls, for not only will you be reintroduced to society, but you will win a kingdom! With your marriages, each of you will move to a new kingdom, which you will rule side by side with your husband. That is, everyone but January, who will take over this kingdom, and December, who shall stay here to keep her safe. It would be impossible for her to rule without her eyes." He turned Nd left to room, a smile on his dace

  • December nodded an put on her proud face, although she inwardly harbors those doubts. How will I rule a kingdom if I can't see? I won't be able to see the lands, the people, the cities... Maybe I am better off here. "He doesn't know anything about me." She said, irritated, not letting her doubts show. "If he did, he would know that I am one of the most capable people in this room."

  • December laughed. "He'll see." She said with a scoff. She stepped into her room and then nodded once to May and slammed the door. Stupid balls. Why do I have to be presented to society. All I'm useful for is getting pity. And pity is not a marriage deal.

  • Yah. Every night is dancing night! I was thinking one of the sisters could say something about their new suitors too loudly or something... And I think the slipper mystery is coming pretty soon.

  • Urgh. Okayyyyyy......

May finished lacing up December's dress and smiled. "Me go so you think Kronus will dance with tonguht?" She asked as she tied the laces in a neat bow at the small of her back.

  • December rolled her eyes. "He's a MAN. How unpredictable can he really be?" Se teased. "You are the obvious choice for his queen. He adores you. Now the only reason he would dance with someone else would be to make sure nobody's jealous."

  • December laughed. "Come on, love bird. Lets go to the dance." She stood up and brushed her apparently ice blue dress down, then walked through her doors an Into the commons, just as Jan was opening te door

  • December followed the rest of her sisters down the stairs, falling into the end of the line, like always. She smiled when she felt the ground beneath her change to the soft black sand, and then walked over to her boat. As a fifteenth birthday present, Kronus had presented each girl with their own elegant boat as means of crossi g his mirror lake. Jan had received an eagle, February a silver fish, May a beautifully carved wooden butterfly, and December a swan. She never really understood Kronus's reasoning behind the gift. He had given each girl an animal that reflected their personality- so did that mean he thought her an elegant swan? She placed we hand on her prince's knee, immediately identifying him as her deaf prince. Their princes had been more and more repetitive, with Decembers the same every night. She didn't mind it so much: at least she was left to her own thoughts. And he was a great dancer.
