"Yeah. I remember because my father put me in charge of watching your aunt, the new princess and the alpha of the Green Hills clan's wife, who was a few months pregnant with their second son." he smiled as he reminisced. "The Green Hills alpha had to take over the last part of the ceremony. That was the last time I saw them. Any of them. I heard the princess and the Green Hills heirs managed to escape the fate of their clans."
He looked somber as he looked away, as if remembering something unpleasant.
Talk looked at his father.
"You seemed happy in the Black Rock clan." he said, his head tilted to the side. "I've never heard you speak like this before. Why did you leave?"
Deuce gave his son a sad smile.
"Because I was mated to your mother." he answered. "I was supposed to be mated to the alpha's sister... but neither of us like the idea, so we both ran away when we were old enough. I met your mother and the princess- she ran off and hasn't been heard of since. When I returned with Silva, the whole clan turned against us because of the great dishonor I had shown to both my father and the Alpha. Of our 3 children, you were the only one not born in a clan. When your mother and I couldn't take the animosity anymore, we left- not knowing about the little you yet."

Looking from Kalli, under her blanket, to Ebony who had gotten into her own mat, Talk groaned and rolled his eyes, shuffling over to his own blanket. Seattle slipped into hers too and was soon asleep, but Gregory, like Ebony, merely lay staring at the ceiling. Deuce lit a few torches and set them into brackets at the back of the cave, so that the cave was not entirely dark, and then dimmed the main fire slightly by throwing sand around the edges, allowing enough wood and oxygen to last a few hours. He then returned to the entrance of the cave and sat there in his wolf form, once Silva had gone to bed.
