"Physically - that's easy. Your face is probably the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, I could drown in your eyes yet I'd stare at them forever if you let me. I don't want to sound pervy but your body is mind-blowing and I'd you have absolutely nothing to worry about there. Your hair is just perfect, it always smells nice and it just sets the whole thing off."
Lucas paused for breath, looking Gabby straight in the eye.
"As for mentally - you're the most complicated girl I know. You're clearly intelligent, you can be extremely witty and sharp, you're outspoken but also so mysterious. It makes talking to you the best thing in the world."

Dale sat down heavily in the seat of the truck and shut the door slowly. He wanted to say something to Luke, but faltered everytime he opened his mouth. He didn't want to sound patronizing so he just sat in glum silence.

  • "Am I anything like your humor and dumps from high school?" Gabby asked seriously, watching him carefully to make sure that he was telling the complete truth. As far as she could tell he was, and she almost believed him. Almost, but it was a start. Especially how she admitted to Lucas that she didn't believe she was pretty.

Luke glanced over at Dale gap like a fish a few times and laughed quietly, shaking his head as he did so. "What's wrong?" He asked while driving down the gravel driveway, noting that he needed to mow the grass soon.

"No." Lucas spoke quietly but sincerely. "You're nothing like them. This is... this is why I get freaked out sometimes. I've never had a solid, serious relationship before with someone I really loved, and maybe that's why I can be a really sh*tty boyfriend."

"Nothin," Dale mumbled. "Just that..." he swallowed, staring straight ahead. "I don't want to worry you or anything, Lucas is a good guy, but I've always wondered if him and Gabby would really last. Lucas is a player, or at least he used to be, and it was always fun and games for him. Now that things are turning serious, with Gabby and all, I'm worried it might get too much for him and he'll freak out."

  • "You're not abusing me." Gabby pouted out, her eyes closing slowly as she relaxed. "So obviously you're not that sh*tty of a boyfriend. I don't really care what you think yourself as, I know that you're the best thing to ever happen to me, and that will ever happen to me." She said with a small smile on her face.

"I've thought about Gabby just shutting down on him one day because of the whole Jared mess. I'm actually surprised that she's wanting visitors right now, I figured we would've had to bust our way in to see her." Luke said honestly as he turned onto the main road again. "As much as I hate to say it for the sake of both gabby and Lucas, I don't see them becoming anything more than boyfriend and girlfriend."

  • [color=black][font=times new roman]
Lucas smiled softly, taking her hand and squeezing it gently.
    "I love you," he whispered.

"I agree." Dale sighed, staring out of the window. He was silent for a few more moments before sighing again.
"Isn't it so unfair how one sh*tty person can change someone's life forever? I mean, obviously I don't know Gabby as well as you do but I'm guessing that because of Jared there's a lot she's missed out on."

  • "Love you more." Gabby his parted before falling asleep, her entire body becoming relaxed as she slipped into a dreamless sleep, her hand still holding onto Lucas's hand, though not enough to cut off circulation.

Luke sighed and nodded his head, biting his bottom lip gently. "I'm actually surprised that she's talking to you and Lucas. Honestly, I thought that she would just kinda hole herself up after Jared, but she loves you all."

why am i shipping dale and luke

Lucas grinned, gently tucking a stray bit of hair behind Gabby's ear. He looked at her peaceful face and resolved to stay up for the rest of the night just so he could be with her.

Dale chuckled wryly. "If Jared ever shows his face again, I have no doubt in the fact that Lucas would murder him mercilessly."

  • i ship them as a bromance, like i can totally see dale being luke's new best friend

"I already called dibs." Luke said with a small grin, noticing police flashes ahead of him. He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion then slowed down, rolling his window down to talk to the officer.
"Bad wreck up ahead, I'm gonna have to ask you to turn around." The man grumbled out.
"This is the only way to the hospital, I need to get back there." Luke stated.

Eli looked at Chrissy for a moment, a small smile appearing on her lips. "So... You and Luke." She started out.

  • [color=black][font=times new roman]
    yeah definitely :D

Dale frowned, looking at the policeman. "Yeah, we need to get back there. Are there any alternate routes?" he asked, as he didn't know the area that well.

Chrissy blushed a little and looked at Eli, smiling. "What about it?" she asked.
Her feet ached in her black platform stilettos so she pulled them off, rubbing her heels. She hoped the boys would get back soon with the spare clothes.

  • "I'll let you drive through, but don't stop and if anyone tried to stop you just motion back here." The man sighed out, pulling away to get in his blocked car. He moved his car then allowed the boys to go through. Luckily no one tried to stop Luke, and soon they were out of the way ice again and driving towards the hospital.

"Has he gotten in your pants yet?" Eli asked bluntly, a excited grin coming across her lips. She loved teasing Chrissy about the relationship with her brother, always thinking it was the best thing.

  • [color=black][font=times new roman]
Dale saw the hospital just up the road and reached into the backseat, grabbing Eli's stuff. He checked the time on his phone and realised it was half three in the morning.
"Do you know when Gabby will be allowed back home?" Dale asked Luke.

Chrissy raised her eyebrows and giggled a little.
"No." She stated. "Why, may I ask?"

  • "Probably sometime today." Luke said, realizing what time it was. He stopped at the stop light and sighed, relaxing back into the seat. "Not sure, though I'm sure Lucas will try to get her out as soon as possible." He said somewhat seriously.

"Just wondering." Eli said while smirking down at her phone in her hand. "So that I can twase him about how much of a prude he is." She stated casually.

  • [color=black][font=times new roman]
Dale nodded in agreement. "Yeah, he will, but he'll also probably refuse to let her stand up until she's sure she's ready." he chuckled.

"I think we both just want to wait til the right time." Chrissy replied, looking at Eli sideways with a slight smirk. "You and Dale, however..."

  • Luke merely nodded quietly, a small grin on his face as he pulled into the hospital parking lot. He turned off the truck then got out, grabbing the bags from the backseat before he shut the back door, then locked the doors and started walking towards the door again.

"Don't know what you're talking about." Eli stated, sounding a little distracted as she typed on her phone.

  • [color=black][font=times new roman]
Swinging Eli's bag in his hand, Dale approached the automatic doors and stepped inside. He flinched slightly at the strange, harsh hospital smells and the severe echoing throughout the large hall. He traced the corridor quickly until he stumbled into the waiting room, and located Chrissy and Eli.

"Who are you texting?" Chrissy asked with mild interest, changing tack. She sunk into the hard plastic back of the hospital chairs and smiled as she saw Dale and Luke in the distance.

  • "Honeys we're home." Luke sighed out as they entered the waiting room, spotting Chrissy and Eli. He handed Chrissy her bag then sat himself on her lap, not putting his full weight on her but he was still sitting on her.

Eli locked her phone and tucked it away, looking at Dale with a small smile. She hadn't talked to him since they had gotten here before, and now was almost desperate to at least have a simple conversation with him.

  • [color=black][font=times new roman]
"Thankyou," Chrissy smiled, taking the bag. She leant forward and kissed Luke lightly on the lips and wrapped her arms round him, but ended up clinging to him. She was so shaken by what had happened tonight she didn't want to let go.

Dale sat down next to Eli and smiled at her. "You okay? I got you your stuff." He said, handing her the bag.

  • Luke looked at her in shock for a moment before he gently, and somewhat awkwardly, put his hands on her waist with a small smile. "It's okay, everyone's fine." He stated gently.

Eli smiled at Dale and stood up, nodding her head at him. She bent down and gently pecked his lips before heading towards the bathroom she found earlier.

  • [color=black][font=times new roman]
Chrissy pulled away from him reluctantly. "Yeah, I know." She whispered.
She gently tipped Luke off her lap and stood up, swinging the bag of clothes. "I'm gonna go get changed, back in five minutes." With that, she began to cross the waiting room towards the girls' bathroom.

Dale sighed and sank down in his seat, pulling out his phone. He absent-mindedly scrolled through old texts from people at home. Feeling a sudden pang for them, Dale wished that he could visit them sometime but he wouldn't want to leave Eli and the others.

  • Luke looked at her leave then took her spot, a faint smile on his lips as he looked down at his phone. He bit his bottom lip gently as he turned on his phone and proceeded to unlock it, going to his notifications at first. He grew bored without Chrissy easily, and resorted to texting her phone multiple times with selfies and more.

Eli came back a few minutes later, now looking more relaxed. She set the bag down then sat next to Dale, looking at him curiously. "Whatcha doing?" She questioned softly.
