OOC; Whew, this took a long time to write! I left her name out for a reason, by the way.

IC; The young she-cat sat, her eyes wide and sad as she watched the monster drive away down the thunderpath, one of her young twolegs waving and yelling something at her through the monster's window.
"Why did they leave me?" she meowed, tears forming in her eyes. Slowly, she turned and padded towards her home, her back hunched and her head down.

Days passed, and the she-cat began to grow hungry. Her stomach rumbled and she was finding it hard to walk. She felt weak and decided that she needed to eat. Painfully, she crawled out to the thunderpath, hoping to find anything that she would be able to eat. She would even take a tin can at this point. Behind her, the she-cat heard a loud rumbling sound and she turned. It was a monster! She darted off the road, completely forgetting about her hunger. The monster slowed down until finally coming to a stop. The cat stared, her eyes wide. On the side of the monster, there was some weird twoleg writing. She tried to read it, but of course she had absolutely no idea what it said. A twoleg climbed out of the monster, carrying a cage. It said something and slowly walked closer to her. The she-cat tried to scramble away, but her hunger was getting worse and she doubled over in pain. The twoleg grabbed her and stuffed her in the cage; her claw catching on the side of the cage door. She yowled in pain as the twoleg slammed the door shut and she watched her claw fall to the ground. Her paw was bleeding and she licked it quickly. Where on earth was the twoleg taking her? She began to meow, causing the twoleg to yell something at her. It banged its paw on the cage and the cat shut her mouth. She was thrown into the monster; her body hitting the cage and making her yowl out in pain.

The she-cat meowed and scratched at the cage the whole time she was inside the monster, and the twoleg got very angry. She just want to know where it was taking her! Suddenly, the monster stopped and her cage fell off the seat onto the ground. The twoleg grabbed her cage and jumped out of the monster. The cat looked around, her eyes wide and scared. Her ears were flat and she hissed at the twoleg. It ignored her and kept walking, all the way into a strange building. Inside, there were many cages with other cats. As she passed, some were silent, some hissed and some mumbled to themselves.
"Good luck, honey." one of them meowed. An older she-cat with kind eyes, the she-cat realized.
"Good luck with what?!" she asked, calling out as the twoleg walked into another strange room.
"You'll see..." the other cat said sadly, her voice slowly fading away. The young cat's heartbeat sped up and she yowled like crazy, scratching at the cage. The twoleg smashed the cage against the wall and she fell silent. They arrived in a dark room with no exit except for one door, which the twoleg slammed shut. It opened the cage and the cat bolted out. She hissed and pulled out her claws, one of her paws still bleeding. The twoleg said something in a strained voice and tried to grab her, but she darted away and hissed again. It yelled, grabbed something and chased after her. It was sharp and she didn't like it. The she-cat tried to run away, but the twoleg trapped her in the corner of the room. It swung the sharp thing at her and she yowled as it stabbed her tail, cutting off the tip of it. The she-cat curled into a ball, stuffing the end of her tail into her mouth as she cried. It then brought down another sharp thing. She had seen that before... a needle! She tried to bolt, but fell over because of the pain from her tail. The twoleg stabbed the needle into her neck and everything faded to black.

"It's better just to obey them." someone said as she started to come to. It was the old she-cat from before!
"Where am I? What is this place?" she meowed, then felt her tail and cried out in pain.
"Shh, it's okay. You're fine." the other cat meowed, though she didn't sound too sure.
"This is an animal testing lab. They inject us with things they want to make sure are safe for twolegs." she said, her voice sad. The younger cat tried to speak, but the pain from her tail was too much. She looked around at her surroundings instead. She was inside a small cage with the other cat, and there was barely enough room for one of them, let alone two. She was just about to try and say something, when she heard a noise outside. Another cat being brought to this cruel place. No, it couldn't be! All she could hear was twoleg voices. Suddenly, the door burst open and two twolegs ran in, holding guns. They began to open the cages, the cats inside of them standing and looking at them with wide eyes. No one seemed sure about what to do. But when hen they reached her cage, the younger she-cat knew exactly what to do. She jumped down and bolted out of the door, running as fast as she could. After a while of running, she found herself inside a forest. No one seemed to be following her, so she lay down next to a small bush and tried to calm herself. She licked her tail that had stopped bleeding but was still extremely painful.

Behind her, the she-cat heard a noise.
"Not again!" she cried, thinking it was a twoleg. But little did she know, it was something much worse. A savage orange and brown animal walked out of the bush, its mouth foaming. She looked at it, eyes wide. It looked kind of like a dog, she thought. It padded over to her and sniffed her. The she-cat was frozen, her heart beating as fast as it could possibly go. The animal stopped sniffing, looked at her again, then swiped. She cried out in pain as it caught her back with its claws, causing her to bleed. She tried to run, but it was much faster than her with all the cuts and bruises she had.
"HELP!" she cried, desperately hoping someone would hear her.

Sure, his life had been naught but torture, but it was the only life he knew. Outside of this sterile white and cold tile floor, who knew what awaited him? And so, though few ventured bravely enough to jump down and follow the scent of that brave first dissenter, it took more than a blind leap of faith to pry Julien from his cage. In fact, as the armed humans went to and fro, he actively hissed and swiped at them to get them away. But, regardless, they managed to grab ahold of him – stuffing him in a crate with several other agitated felines. Scrambling to get away (knowing his fellow feline’s temper and partially sharing it), he managed to scrape enough room between him and them and hunched down, fearful and overwhelmed. The humans closed the crate, enveloping the few he was with in silence.

It wasn’t long before the crate started moving, and though he could hear the faint shuffle of humans and various whispers and shouts, he had no idea what was going on; only that if this went on much longer he would be sick. Several of the felines in crates above and below him were hissing and mrrowing and God, did he wish it would stop – and, eventually, it did. The tomcat was relieved for a split second before the confusion began again; he was lurched off his paws as the human lifted the yellow crate he had been stuffed in. He slid into another angry feline and was met with a swipe of a declawed paw – which he hurriedly batted away. Moments later, he was greeted with natural sunlight; something he had only heard about by newcomers to the lab. The human who had brought the group of cats here quickly dumped them onto the ground, and then grabbed the next crate, and the next, and repeated. Soon enough, hundreds of cats littered the ground, and though a few stuck around, many of them scurried away or formed heartbeat alliances the moment they landed. Cautiously, he pressed his paw to the ground. Was this grass? He looked to the sky and saw a green and brown object. Were those trees?

Julien had never been outside the lab, and he was never as confused as he was this day.

In a split-second decision, he rushed towards the group of trees (he remembered them being called a forest). Though he was used to the constant hum of florescent lights and alternately complete darkness, save for the glow of various buttons and bobbles, he absolutely could not stand the way the sun beat down, almost unbearably, upon his fur. Florescence was one thing, but this natural light was completely another – and though it was natural, it felt so strange and he gladly retreated wherever he could. The canopy of leaves above his head was quite enough for him to grin upwards thankfully; but now that he had gotten past this first sensory load, he was over to another one; scent.

He had scented forest or whatever before on the pelts of cats that had been collected to come here, but he had no idea it was so, well – not white. He was used to white, and though it was by no means a friendly color to him it was so much better than this endless expanse of green and brown and black and various colors of flowers dotting the distance. And though he was afraid, some instinctual part of him was vastly happy, and with a sigh he flopped down into the grass, embracing it for a moment and closing his eyes. No humans to worry about, nothing like that… he took in breath after gasping breath, and the more he did the more he worried. What if the humans came back? He didn’t want to leave; and if he went, how many of his childhood friends would he be able to meet? And how content would he be to live a fate towards death now that he knew what life outside was like? He clung to the earth with his claws like it was his only hope, and closed his eyes.

    ***

He awoke to a feminine cry, and immediately jolted to his feet, glancing around fearfully. It was definitely like the ones he was used to in the center; a cry that he had heard so many times in his life. Regardless of who it was, he knew it meant one thing – somebody was in pain. And now that he was here, instead of immobile in some musty cage, he knew that the only thing he could really do was go and find this cat – and protect them, whoever it was. He felt so strongly, even towards this unknown force, that he knew it had to happen. And, with a speed that surprised himself, he darted towards the sound.

His way of greeting the feline was fearful and exaggerated – he nearly tripped into her, first off. After composing himself and glancing back at what could be nothing other than a fox (he had heard that story in his cage, too). He knew of that ugly stench and open jaws, and though they were similar to cats they also shared an animalistic aggression with humans that Julien simply could not forgive. Nudging the female with his head, he gave her a fearful look. “Get out of here,” he begged, before turning to the monster. Before he really knew himself what was happening, he instinctively swiped at the beast’s muzzle. If she decided to bolt, he would probably run after her; and even if it meant death, he would stay here and fight this foul thing. Ducking under it’s clumsy paw, he slashed towards the animal’s face, hissing angrily.

[justify][color=black][font=georgia]The cat stared at the tom, eyes wide, then made up her mind. She darted away into a thick group of bushes; their leaves grabbed her fur and pulled, but that was the least of her worries at the current moment in time. Through a small gap in the dense leaves, Rosette watched the cat fight the savage beast. It lashed out, almost reaching him, but the tom darted away just in time. After a while, she saw that the cat was growing tired, and eventually the fox would be able to overpower him. Glancing down at her tail, the she-cat winced. A good few centimeters were cut of her tail and her fluffy fur was covered in dry blood.

Cautiously, she slunk out of the bushes, her paws barely making a sound. Rosette crept up behind the animal, her body low to the ground and her ears alert. Her legs were ready to bolt if anything went wrong - she was hoping it wouldn't. As the she-cat approached the back of the fox, she looked at the other cat, her eyes full of fear. Glancing at the ground, then back up again, she sighed quietly. Her legs crouched, then she pounced.

Rosette landed on the back of the fox and dug her claws in, not allowing it to throw her off. She hissed, taking one paw and smacking it on the head. The animal ran in circles, trying to free itself. Hissing and spitting, the she-cat didn't go down without a fight. She screeched, her claws ripping across the fox's fur and digging into its flesh. Blood poured out of the wounds, dripping down the animal's coat.

With a final burst of strength, the fox threw her to the ground and ran away, whining loudly. The she-cat lay in a heap on the ground, her eyes closed as she panted heavily.
