Slowly it started to fade, as his body only shook once and a while and his heart beat calmed. The old dog looked up at Penelope. "I'm fine.... I just need to get back to camp." He croaked gently, trying to smile at the two. His grand daughter Jasmine ran up to him gleefully and started to lick his face.

The air was warm with a cool breeze as I sat upon my perch, a fallen tree. I was alert yet relaxed, settled on my haunches as I enjoyed the peacefulness in the camp. My eyes closed for a second and I inhaled the fresh air, although the solemnity only lasted a moment, for I knew the Conflicts' could be anywhere. I straightened my posture and broke the silence with a rough yap. It was hard being the only guard, as I was on the clock 24/7. I shifted my position until I was resting on my stomach comfortably, paws overlapping and ears perked.

A scornful fire dancing in her eyes, Sonate slunk in the shadows near the camp entrance of Raptor's pack. How reckless of them to only keep one guard among them. Her paws tingled, as the troublesome female sat back in the dirt, watching the guard. She hadn't a clue of what the significant other went by, although she's watched the female for an extended time, coming to the conclusion that this dog was overworked.
With a soft crack, she gingerly stepped out onto the narrow trail that stretched in front their camp. Sonate had always thought that their camp looked rather.. cozy and warm. Unlike their own, which appeared to be full of darkness and gave off a menacing approach; just the way she liked it.
"lonely?" Her voice was crisp, a sly grin etching into her facial features as she assertively approached Lulu.

I nearly jumped out of my skin hearing that sly greeting. Within a moment I was on my paws, glaring at the female who had approached me. It was clear this was no rogue, not at this point. I knew she wasn't with us, so there was only one other answer. Hackles raised and fur bristling I lifted my head and bared my teeth to look more aggressive, my copper gaze fixed on her with a fiery glare. "What are you doing here? Did you and your tiny brain lose their way to your own camp and come here expecting a belly rub?" It was clear I was quick to jump in to some conflict, as I'm sure we both knew we weren't likely to be getting out of this all squeaky clean.

I felt a smirk crept onto my face and replace my previous hostile impression. "You should clearly know that I'm willing to call my pack mates at this instant." My smirk widened into a grin as I towered over the fox-like opponent. I couldn't hold it in, no, I wouldn't. "But you know it should explain because of your, status." I was referring to the fact that she took a rank in the Conflicts' pack when so could've joined forces with us. "All bronze no brains."

Streaks of delicate, golden sunlight danced into the camp as Maple's deep blue eyes blinked open. Relief. The nightmare was over and she could relax. Rising to her slim paws, the merle gave a wide, long yawn. Tail lashing out hitting any nearby foliage she walked on, bored and hungry. In the centre of camp the female took her position on the luscious, emerald green grass. Sunlight cut through her eyes like a hot blade through butter forcing her to close her eyes into a squint. Her vision, now blurred, trailed to some of the distant pack members. Bored...bored out of her witts.

Sonate raised her lip to reveal her flashing teeth in a wry smile. "very funny. so funny I forgot to laugh." She retorted, her strong tail whipping violently back and forth behind her. This dog was trying to play her, but Sonate wasn't the prey. Ever. Oh she would never be someone's chew toy.
"packmates? Go ahead. Won't be the first time, and certainly not the last, Lassie." Her voice and posture portrayed confidence, which was an all-around aspect of this easily ignited female.

Her orbs bore into the other dog at the comment of her "status", as it were. "Well is it my own fault that I was born into that pack? I had no choice, sweetheart. Are you implying that I betray my pack? That's a strong action, and if I were to be allowed in, I would never want to wake up everyday to your ray of sunshine." She responded, keeping her voice cool as she sat back on her haunches. "But I suppose I can see why you wouldn't be the happiest. You, dear, are very overworked." She added, blinking slowly.
At the final statement, she snorted. "And now you're assuming things again, are you? See how far that'll get ya."

With an unusually loud sigh, Valefor made his way towards the camp of the conflicts. Every Day, as he knew it happened in the majority of the packs minds, he wondered, what if I just left? But no, the pack was meant for his kind, mentally unhealthy, unstable, and with strength and strategy. The greatly sized german shepherd bunched his hindquarters, propelling himself up onto a large boulder. His claws scathed the surface, enough to make any dog cringe. Eyes boring mindlessly into the distance, a cool breeze whipped by his cheeks. But he did not feel the cold. His thoughts were to strong, leaving his earthly body. Valefor's massive structure stood, atop an equally massive boulder. Leverage could make one feel like a king.

(Sooo bored, does anyone want to interact with him?)

    [fancypost bgcolor=transparent; bordercolor=; borderwidth=0px;width:420px;height:240px;]

[fancypost bgcolor=transparent; bordercolor=; borderwidth=0px;WIDTH:390px;HEIGHT:150px;overflow: auto; width: NUMBERpx; height: NUMBERpx;]Behind Valafor stood the dog that nobody ever favored to have behind them. Demetrius watched the dog closely, knowing full well what he was fantasizing. Laughing every so cruel, the large beast lunged forward, aiming to ram a heavy shoulder into Valefor's smaller one which would knock him right off the boulder and give him a painful landing. Laughing again, Demetrius tossed his large head. Paws greater then the size of dinner plates gripped the stone as he glared heavily at Valerie. "What are you think eh pup? And act of treason or some sort? Feeling like a king just because you're standing on a boulder? Pathetic. You would be a mad king and I would kill you. Mad kings bring stupidity and wreck everything before they even taste a bit of a reward. Insanity is what always rules your true goal right pup?" His voice was mocking as he looked down at the other dog. Coldness was apparent in his eyes but he didn't even blink once. Demetrius was smart and that was a bad thing. Unlike other evil villains he knew the flaws that made one fail. He didn't let his coldness affect his decisions but he knew very what he should an should not do. Chuckling coldly to himself, he sat down and started ahead. He didn't feel like a king. Oh no. He felt like a conqueror, slowly taking cities one by one. What was his goal? Well that was for other times. But, not every dog was born a heartless idiot right?[/fancypost]

He should have seen it coming. He was hard on himself, for not seeing that massive ball of muscle and hair ram him off the boulder. By the time he was in the air, the only thing separating Valefor from a painful fall was reflex. In mid air, he attempted a twist, landing sloppily on his paws, stumbling down on one knee. It was painful, but not as painful as it would have been.

He listened to what his 'alpha' had to say, cold hatred venomously portrayed in his green and amber eyes. But all that Demetrius got out of him was a smirk. "If mad kings were to be killed, you would be dead long ago", he scowled, a light growl edging his tone. "Ever looked at this wreck you call a pack? If you don't call this stupidity and wreck, then I expect you think I'd bring the earth to it's knees", he added. He heartily ignored the pain in his ankle. Nothing serious. Valefor held his head high, no matter who he was addressing. The one thing he prided himself on.

    [fancypost bgcolor=transparent; bordercolor=; borderwidth=0px;width:420px;height:240px;]

[fancypost bgcolor=transparent; bordercolor=; borderwidth=0px;WIDTH:390px;HEIGHT:150px;overflow: auto; width: NUMBERpx; height: NUMBERpx;]Demetrius laughed again, rolling his eyes at Valefor's pointless words which did nothing to him. "Pup this ain't a pack. If you thought I've been thinking that then you're silly. This is a bunch of dogs who don't give a crap about each other. Nothing but pawns really. I don't care who is who because this place is where strength is recognized. We are here because well where else would we be? Waiting for the dog catchers to pick us up and take us to the pound only to kill us?" He questioned harshly. "And as for mad kings, I am no king. Conqueror really. Being a king is too stressful. And everyone wants to kill you to be king or queen themselves. And mad kings do whatever they want. I don't do that smart one. No one can bring the earth to its knees because the earth will kill you in the most brutal way if you try," he chastised. Shaking out his great coat, Demtrius rested his emotionless eyes on the dog below him.

"If there's one thing I don't like, it's pride. Usually it's what gets you killed. And gets you hated. And stop ignoring pain. It makes you stupid. Makes you act like you can endure anything. And for some, just might get you killed." However, he was disregarding everything the dog said since it held no relevance. Was he mad? No. But Demetrius was a bit ruthless. In the end, being king wasn't as good as it seemed. He had been king once. And now he was here. Ordering around a bunch of fools and taking his hate out on others. But this bunch, since it was neither a group or a pack, was for those who were shunned by the world. Not that he held the slightest bit of sympathy for anyone here. But that didn't mean he was going to let them run wild and stuff. Order was order and if you couldn't abide by the rules then you would pay the price. In a world like this, since when did honor, dignity, or any of the sort matter? You tell the truth, you die. You show a bit of kindness, you die. Huffing, the large white dog rose to his feet. "How about we go kill some animals and bring it back eh? It seems that no one knows that what is supposed to be food storage is rather low." Looking back at Valefor, he awaited an answer.[/fancypost]

At the fact of pride being a horrible thing? In some cases, yes. But when you kept it to yourself, there was a difference. The large white dog's words made no change inside of him. He skillfully stifled laughing, at that. If he thought he could make a change inside his iron fenced heart, he was wrong. No one could change Valefor, for he was who he was.

Was there a difference between 'king' and 'conqueror'? Not in Valefor's mind. There were only those who ruled, and those who followed. Apparently, this particular group of dogs hadn't gotten lucky with this one. But the one thing that almost made Valefor cry out with laughter, is when he mentioned pride making you ignore the pain. Nothing could make you ignore pain, nothing but a will of steel. But you would always know, deep in your mind, it was always still their, whether you feel it when your lying awake at night, or a flashback is triggered. All these thoughts, though drifting like a strong current through the large German shepherd's mind, he didn't see the point in saying anything. Like Demetrius's words to himself, he knew his words the the great Pyrenees wouldn't be worth spoken. Hearing the Alpha's invitation of hunting, he saw no reason to turn it down. When the lives of others rested in your hands... Valefor didn't care. But it was the fact that if he at least acted as if he cares, they may be watching his back one day, as he might watch their's. "Why not", he barked to his Alpha, shaking out his black and tan coat.

"Lets hurry up can we? It's not like time like us too," he growled as he started trudging towards the camp entrance and exit. As he walked, he thought about the many things he didn't give a crap about. Opinions. Oh how he despaired opinions for there was always that one dog trying to shove them down your oat like it was fact. Most dogs he encountered like this he would kill. It's not like they mattered. Fearing death. It was absolutely stupid really. Everything living does in the end. Everything non living ends up getting destroyed somehow so it's technically "dead" too. Being well known was pointless. How much others cared for you never really helped him in the end. To put it in short, Demetrius just didn't care. Like the unemotional Sagittarius though a bit more heartless so.certainly the accuracy was near enough. Flicking his tail, he paused and looked around. He could hear animals and such scurrying around. But he also caught the scent of a bunch of deer. Oh goody. Now they could have a beautiful feast. Looking back at Bake for, he quilted an invisible eyebrow, seemingly rather impatient to get going.[/fancypost]
