"True that," Mark agreed, still a bit too shocked to offer any intelligent commentary. "Yes, I've come to appreciate the palace as a home. After all, I've been studying here since I was a filly. Moving here from Ponyville was like coming back home. It was kind of sad leaving my friends behind, though... Oh, you know what? I should arrange a visit to Ponyville sometime soon! That way, you two could scout out a home for when you inevitably leave the castle, and I could rendezvous with the girls! It's a perfect plan."

"Glad to be of service?" Dawn said, stuck on the 'Inevitable leaving of the castle' part. "So, be honest how much of a chance to we have to getting back home?"
-
"Well, considering it was by sheer luck that we got our side of the portal to work in the first place, and I doubt there are very many who would be able to pull off the same thing in your world..." any smidgen of positive feeling drained from her voice. "Very little. If it ever does happen, it will likely be a while into the future. Our best bet it to try modifying the spell to finish the portal manually, but that would require us to literally drill a hole through space in time, and that has never turned out well in the past. We've had to remodel about five separate wings because of past attempts." "Six and a half, your highness," one of the guards corrected her.
-
"How do you remodel a wing?" Dawn said, she had pretty much expected this t be the case. "I wonder if I can get service," She whispered to Mark.
-
"Not literally a wing, a wing as in a section of the castle." Twilight rolled her eyes, frustrated that an identical language could lack such simple diction. "This isn't a hotel, you know," Mark pointed out quietly at the mention of service. [color=red]"We'll probably be looking for jobs by the end of tomorrow, the way this is going."
-
She rolled her eyes and waved her phone out, "Service as in phone service. I have less then a bar." She walked by twilight holding her phone upwards. "I wonder...."
-
"Ooh, what's that?" Twilight suddenly asked, rushing ahead to meet her as any sense of restraint suddenly split off to make way for her curiosity. The guards set a momentarily faster pace to compensate, but made no change otherwise.
-
"A Phone, its kind of old I know. But I am trying to get my mom to buy me a new one," She said glumly. "Wait your saying that you have magic yet you don't have electricity?"
-
The princess raised a brow. "What do you mean 'have electricity'? Electric charges are too hyperactive to even attempt storing! Thus why magic is such a reliable power source. Don't you have proper education in your dimension?" She obviously didn't catch how derogatory her remark was, as she was still staring wide-eyed at the alien device.
-
"Well as you your self said we dont have magic. So we traded our magical powers to better understand electricity. Thus we harnessed it and that is our form of magic," She found the cluelessness amusing for some reason.
-
"So... is that what that 'phone' thing does, then?" she pressed, still just as enthusiastic to figure out what it was she was looking at. One guard had to nudge a decorative table out of the way to prevent her from toppling it over. Of course, the Alicorn didn't notice.
-
"This phone can text, call, play games and music. And, I may be able to get a message to the other dimension, and see if anyone can preform this spell of yours.
-
Twilight didn't seem convinced. "I don't see that thing playing Hoofball anytime soon," she remarked. "Games must be on a much smaller scale where you come from. I wish I could say I need to find a book on this, but I can't, because this is a one-time thing... You two will have to promise me you'll let me take notes on this..."
-
She smiled, "Alright. And when I mean games I mean it like Angry birds. Or Evan Temple Run. If we ever get back home I will get you a instruction manual on how the phone works deal?" She said holding out her hand to shake, but quickly drew it back when she remembered that horses have hooves.
-
Twilight put a hoof to her chin, considering the offer. "It's a deal!" she announced after a couple moments. "Glad to see we're getting along," Mark commented.
Soon, they came across a large set of doors which looked like they were undergoing a series of renovations. Many of the tiles that covered them were pulled up, and some of them were replaced with those of a purple color. "And this is where you two will be staying," Twilight informed the group. "What's with the..?" "Oh, that. You see, this used to be the guests' quarters, but the wing is being reconstructed as a third throne wing. These rooms are in the process of being converted to my own chambers." She paused for a moment, a realization coming to mind. "Thus, it seems we'll be sharing a room..."
[CHAPTER ONE | ROOMMATES]
-
She stifled a sigh, she didn't mind the girl. But she had never shared a room, and was certain it would drive her insane. She wasn't mean normally, but she did get annoyed very easily. "Well this will be....Interesting?" She tried to sound positive but couldn't manage it.
-
"That's one word for it," Mark added as two armored unicorns took places on either side of the doors. Their horns lit up with a pale yellow glow before the doors swung outward ever-so-slowly, revealing the inner room's contents.
It was a rather small room, mainly consisting of a large blue bed in the center with a covered basket beside it and several dressers set by the walls. Against one of said walls was a stairway leading upward. Large windows covered any space these fixtures didn't, allowing into the room what little light the moon had to offer.
"The room is actually held in a side tower," Twilight explained as the doors closed behind them. "There are several other floors with other beds and such. I hope you don't mind the clutter- There's still some remodeling going on, so..." She paused, suddenly remembering something. "Quick question: You said that magic doesn't exist in your world, right? If that's so, then you might find some of the other things you see here kinda weird. For instance, do you know what a dragon is?"
-
She paused, "Normally I would reply a magical mythological creature out of a book. Now I honestly wouldn't be surprised if one walked down the stares," She crossed her arms, now expecting one to walk down.
-
"And what's that supposed to mean, exactly?" came a young, though clearly offended voice from there the basket lay. On closer examination, it was easy to see a figure underneath the cover, though whoever it was had themselves fully cocooned by the blanket.
-
"Its supposed to mean what I just said," She said tilting her head trying to see into the blankets. "Let me guess your a dragon?"
