Leaning his head against a snow covered tree, Aku's icy blue irises scanned the arcadian expanse of endless white blanketed woods. He sighed heavily, rested his boot against the tree’s sleeping trunk, and ran his hand through his hair tiredly; muttering quietly, “Phew… I’m beat.” He glanced to the right and put his cinnamon colored hat back on as he was doing so. Suddenly, a noise came from up in the tree he was leaning against, and as he looked up a giant drift of snow piled onto him before he even had a chance to groan. Eventually, his head burst from the frosty pile and looked straight up into the tree. For a second, he could have sworn he saw a inky shadow in the heights of the huge plant, and, despite the fact that he felt paranoid for doing so, leapt from the pile and attempted to climb the tree.
“Gah,” he muttered to himself, “The trunks completely covered in ice!” He then turned his attention upward and caught a glimpse of a boy’s face peering down at him, who quickly hid when he noticed Aku’s inquisitive look. At this, Aku smiled to himself, put one hand on his hip and one half cupped next to his mouth, and said, “Hey! Come on down here! I don’t bite, and besides, you’ll freeze.”

Ic: Panting slightly, Cornelius risked another peek at the Pokehuman below. As he shifted to a less uncomfortable position among the slick branches, his bow clattered across his back. Despite the other boy's words, he wasn't entirely convinced. Then again, the Umbreon couldn't find any visible weapons, and the kid under the lump of snow didn't [i]smell[/i] suspicious...He cautiously crept down the tree trunk, digging his feet into marks in the icy surface that he'd made when scaling the tree earlier. His landing was accompanied by the thunk of his quiver on the ground. Still tense and cautious, Cornelius narrowed his eyes. "I'm not cold," he protested, gesturing to the thin scarf and goggles he was wearing. He chose to ignore the fact that he was currently unable to feel his hands.

Aku had to hold his breath to refrain from chuckling at the boy's gesture to the wispy scarf that adorned his neck. The boy was sure a sight to behold though. Two black ears protruded from his equally jet black hair, and glowing yellow rings were scattered about his hair and clothing. He stood at attention with his hands at his sides, but they were shivering from cold.
"Oh, so your hands are just naturally sickeningly blue then?" he said with a laughing tone. He reached into his pockets and produced two white fuzzy mittens. "Here, take these. If I were you, I'd like to keep my hands." He held out the pair to the boy's hand and smiled.~OOC~

Ic: "Mmh." Cornelius shrugged, but he snatched the mittens and slipped them on at a speed that was slightly suspicious for a boy who'd claimed to be anything but cold. Then he returned to his previous stance, slinging his quiver over his shoulder. He hesitated for a moment before speaking in a voice that clearly had gone a few hours without usage. "D'you carry those around everywhere or something?"This other boy had earned a few points in his book with the fuzzy mittens. Maybe there wasn't a need to retreat just yet.

"Oh, why to- uhhhh..... Because I can...?" Aku's hand searched for the back of his head. "I just like to be prepared I guess. Heh. Anyway," his hand came back down to his side, "What brings you out to these parts? It's not everyday you see someone out here, especially in the evening." he said steadily. It was odd to see someone in the Lullidin woods, and the boy did seem a little suspicious, but to Aku, he was just some lost kid who needed a little care taking. Seriously? A thin scarf like that in the dead of winter? That was just preposterous to the half Beartic. He was never too cold himself, but despite this boy's constant defiance, it was obvious that he could probably feel next to nothing. -

"What're you doing here? And who even are you?" Okay, maybe there were less rude ways to ask that...

At this, a soft chuckle escaped the teen's pale, frozen lips, and he looked down at the boy. "The names Aku. Nice to meet 'cha!" he said, again holding out his cinnamon mittened hand.
"You're right though, that's for sure. Nights out here are not nights to miss." His eyes distractedly flicked up towards the sky, then back at the boy in front of him, and eventually made their way to the bow that the boy was resting upon his shoulder. Its shiny surface was wet with snow, and little islands of the ice crystals rested upon the top and sides. "Say," he asked, "You hunt? That's pretty cool, I wouldn't have expected that from someone like you, Er, not that I'm underestimating you or anything," he said, waving a paw in front of himself, "What do you hunt anyway?"~OOC~

He cast a glance into the trees before drawing his attention to the other teenager--Aku. "But...'someone like you'?" One of his eyebrows rose, and he moved his goggles up to cover his forehead. "Is that supposed to be an insult or what?..." Cornelius shifted his stance to something that wasn't as close to resembling a soldier's.

Aku's icy eyes widened a bit and the corners of his lips curled into a smile.
"Woah, easy there, buddy! I just, wasn't expecting... Ah, what the heck. Never mind. Anyway," suddenly, his head snapped to the side as if he had noticed something in the endless blank of frozen shimmering ice crystals. The part Beartic's eyelids squinted a little and he stooped his head forward a little to try to improve his vision. His strong grip rested on Cornelius' shoulder in an attempt to get his attention and Aku muttered, "Hey, do you see that?" Aku's stare led to a barely legible shadow slowly trudging against the darkening horizon; behind the serene, snow capped evergreens and trees. -

Ic: At the sudden contact, Cornelius flinched and yanked his shoulder from under Aku's hand. He brushed it off, then moved his gaze to the silhouette in the distance. Instantly, his bow was off his back, an arrow in his hand. The mittens had also been removed just as quickly. The boy slid his goggles down once again to keep the snow from impeding his accuracy. "Y-yeah. What is it?" A tremor had entered his voice, but he hid it behind a strange growling noise.

"I don't..." Aku started to say, but cut himself short when he turned his head to see a bow aiming Cornelius ready to shoot. "Woah woah woah! For heaven's sake, what if that's a kid or somthi-" at this, Aku was again cut short at the sound of an "energy release" and an explosion of the snow between him and the boy. An icy cloud arose from the ground and the chill stung the teenager's nose. Aku immediately, instinctively even, assumed a position at ready.
"Welp, I guess that 'aint a kid!"
The figure continued towards them, almost staggering against the fresh beginnings of a flurry, or blizzard. -

"Don't move." With a fluid motion that had clearly been repeated many times before, he nocked the arrow to the bow, aimed at an area that he guessed was the figure's leg, and fired.

Time seemed to slow as the arow spliced through the chilly air towards it's victim to be.
Aku didn't even have time to blink before an ear piercing howl arose in the night. At the horrible sound, the anthromorphic flinched and covered his face and ears with his hat, to say, he pulled it down over them. After a second he looked up to see a pair of glowing red eyes shoot through the dark. Shouldn't it be...gone?
Impulsively, Aku's hands started glowing with icy power, and the next second, he shot a ball of ice that sailed towards the figure with gusto. His heavy breath swirled out of his mouth in the cold as he watched the figure fall. With wide eyes, Aku stared, dazed in a trance at the inky shadow. He started running towards the figure.
"Not dead, just unconscious. Not dead, just unconscious. Not dead, just unconscious," he muttered to himself. -

Ic: He had been preparing to pay the Beartic a complement on his aim. Of course, that was before Aku started running. With an exasperated huff, Cornelius raced after the older boy. "Don't run [i]toward[/i] it!" he shouted between heavy breaths, just barely resisting the urge to facepalm. Though his arrow and Aku's ice-ball had surely made contact with the silhouette, he wasn't ready to let his guard down yet. Being mauled once on a hunting trip had taught him that much. Never approach the enemy unarmed and unprepared for a counterattack. His sensitive ears could pick up the words Aku was mumbling. Frankly, the Umbreon didn't see what the big deal was. Whatever the shadow was, it should've made it obvious whether it was friend or foe. Besides, if it actually [i]was[/i] dead...well, it probably wasn't anyone Cornelius knew. Therefore, he wasn't all that concerned.

His hand reached to check for a pulse on the tiny shadow' s neck. A soft thumping sensation overcame his now un-mittened hand, and Aku sighed a breath of relief he didn't even realize he was holding within him.
"Just unconscious..." he said to himself. In the fading sunlight, it was hard to see the figures face, but Aku could just barely make out features in it. When his eyes adjusted, he noticed that the figure was indeed a young person, not a child, but a young person. For some reason, out of curiosity, Aku gently lifted open one of the person's eyelids, but nearly jumped out of his skin when he saw the crystalline eye. A deep purple surrounded a triangle shaped pupil that was spinning, and it was just all around creepy.
"What the..." breathed Aku. He turned his head to see Cornelious standing near him.
"Hey, come take a look at this," he said, motioning for him to come closer.[hr]

"What is—[i]woah![/i]" He jumped back in surprise and fright, aiming another arrow at the person's face; upon realizing that there was no way the thing could hurt him, he lowered his arm and leaned over. "...Weird," Cornelius said, stepping away once more. He wasn't taking any chances. "I've never seen [i]that[/i] before..." He shot Aku a look that clearly asked what on earth he was seeing in the unconscious figure's pupils. The borrowed mittens were pulled back on, and the Pokéhuman gently rested a hand on the mysterious person's forehead. [i]It feels kind of cold, but...[/i]

Aku would never admit to it, but he screeched when he saw the clammy, white hand tightly gripping his equally icy one. He nearly Mega Punched it off out if fear, then jumped back. The hand returned to it's owners side; next to its furry coat. Its eyes remained closed but flinched a little.
"Wh-Wha?" Aku's frosty irises flicked to the girl's head, and he noticed somthing odd.
"It's an anthropomorphic Eevee." He said quietly.[hr]
