    Shadowkit's paw hurt so much he whimpered in pain but that would not help at all! "Mommy" he whimpered staring into the dark abyss in front of him. Suddenly a white light burst in front of him and he could see! A blob of thick grey fur looming into his sight. A muffled voice echoed inside his head he could make out the words "Wait....... Heartfire." He struggled to sit up but pain surged through his entire body and a black wave surged over his sight.

    Shadowkit heaved himself to his feet with the help of Mintkit and staggered into the medicine den where he collapsed into a nest beside Aquaheart.

    Aquaheart raised her head when she saw Shadowkit collapse in a nest beside her. She leaned down and winced when she saw his twisted swollen paw. Her wounds had started to sting and she had looked for Heartfire but couldn't find her. Where in Star Clan could Heartfire be? she thought to her self. Before falling back asleep.

    HeartFire sighed as she crept back into camp, a bundle of borage under her chin and some marigolds in her mouth. She had been running low, so she had left when her patients were all asleep. She almost dropped her herbs when she saw Shadowkit. "I was out getting marigolds and borage. And it's a good thing I did." She mewed, dropping the herbs. She grabbed some poppy seeds "Lick these up. It'll help with the pain" She mewed to the young tom. She then grabbed some of the fresh marigolds, chewing them up into a poultice.

    HeartFire looked at the paw, then put a poultice of marigolds onto it. Grabbing some comfort, she chewed it and put it on top of the marigolds to help soothe the wounds. She then put a bit of catchweed over top to protect the poultice. Pushing the poppy seeds closer to the kit, she thought about when she learned the uses of these herbs. "You must eat these. They'll help you sleep and soothe the pain." She mewed, soft but firmly.

    Silverlights sat in camp. The beautiful silver tabby she-cat licked her paw and drew it over her ear calmly.

    Shadowkit heard Mintkit's voice and smelled Heartfire's scent. I'll be okay he thought happily. Pain was still pulsing through his injured paw and his lower part of his foot was numb. But after a few seconds the pain began to die and then seeds were pushed into his mouth. As soon as he ate them his pain vanished and he fell asleep.
    Skystar padded over to Heartfire and licked her shoulder. "Thank you for doing this. You are the best medicine cat anyone could wish to have." She licked her sleeping son's shoulder and padded over to Firepaw where she was talking to Greystripe she sat down and leaned in tuning into the conversation.

    Plushkit saw everyone swarming around the camp. "What happened?" he asked his mom. "Shadowkit broke his paw playing catch the mouse." she replied "That is why I don't let you play that game." He nodded and padded back to his den to sleep off the tiredness that lingered in his body.

    Greystripe nodded to Skystar as the she-cat sat down to join them. "We were just saying we hope Shadowkit gets better." he said sympathetically to his leader. "What is wrong with him?" his daughter Firepaw asked "Did he break his paw like I did when I was little?' she asked asking Skystar and him. He shrugged and sat down awaiting an answer from his leader.

    Skystar dipped her head to Firepaw and Greystripe and padded off to her den.
