[align=right][font=times new roman][size=8][color=black]Nathan sat on the bench in his school yard, listening to music. He had broken up with his girlfriend over a month ago, and she still just wasn't willing to let go. He had moved on a long time ago, and he just wanted to find that one girl that he could spend the rest if his life with.

  • Devyn walked by herself across the schoolyard. She had her head down and her orange headphones hanging around her neck. In her arms, she was juggling: two textbooks, three notebooks, her drawing pad and her sharpie bag. She wasn' t paying much attention to anyhting because a moment later, she tripped anf fell, spilling everything onto the ground. " Jesus!" She whispered to herself in embarassment. She started to pick up everything, her loose drawings still spread out all over the ground.

[align=right][font=times new roman][size=8][color=black]Nathan looked up from his phone as one of her books came skidding across the ground to his feet. He grinned and picked up the book, which looked to be her sketch book. He pushed himself off of the bench and walked over to Devyn, who was grabbing the last if her books off the ground. As she stood up, he offered the book out to her, smiling.

  • "Oh, umm- Thanks." She said, blushing and gently taking her scetchbook back from his hands. She smiled and nodded awkwardly. "Umm- well bye I guess." She said as she started to walk off.

[align=right][font=times new roman][size=8][color=black]"Wait," he said, grasping her arm. "I'm Nathan." He smiled and offered her his hand to shake, but then realized she had her hands full. He awkwardly slided his hand back into the pocket of his leather coat. He gave her an awkward crooked smile.

[align=right][font=times new roman][size=8][color=black]Nathan smiled. "Well, Devyn, what class are you headed to?" He gazed steadily into her eyes through his own green ones. He looked away from them when the bell rang. Immediately, students around them started moving, standing up off of the benches and moving towards the building.

  • "Oh Umm..." she said, trailing off as she looked at a piece of a paper." Umm.. Biology 1 with... Mrs. Didoux." She said looking back up at him, gazing into his green eyes.

[align=right][font=times new roman][size=8][color=black]"Awesome! I think that's my next class too." Nathan smiled kindly at her and started to turn in that direction. "If you want, I can carry your books for you, I don't mind." He extended his hand, signalling for her to give him some of her books.

Jefferson is the name of the school, okay? Sorry, just came up with that last minute. Haha

Nathan returned that same genuine smile. He started walking off to class beside Devyn, being mindful to go the same pace as her. "So, are you new here at Jefferson?"

[align=right][font=times new roman][size=8][color=black]He chuckled. "Yeah, I figured. You seemed a bit out of place," he paused for a second, not saying a word, rethinking what he had said. "I mean that in a good way, of course. Everyone here all looks and acts the same, and it's always the same when a new kid comes- they stand out like a sore thumb, just because they aren't as stuck up as the rest of us." He laughed, looking at Devyn. "You have no idea how much I hope you don't turn into one of them." He looked around at all the girls lounging around. It was true- they all looked shockingly similar. They dressed the same way, in their slutty- manner, wearing the shortest shorts they could find, some of them were so short, they resembled panties more than they resembled denim shorts. He snorted and looked at the ground, a disappointed smile playing on his face.

  • Devyn laughed softly at him. She smiled at him and said." Well I hope that I don't have to dress like a slut in order to fit in. My ideal outfit is this." She said pointing to her outfit which consisted of: a loose Beastie Boys t-shirt, skinny jeans, a hoodie, and a pair of black Converse.

[align=right][font=times new roman][size=8][color=black]Nathan smiled, "I hope it stays like that too," then he looked up again. "Left," he said, turning, "You see I'm sick of attending this school, dealing with the same crap and the same hot-headed characters, and the last thing I need is for yet another new kid to show up and become like the rest of them." He paused and looked her dead in the eye, his sentences becoming more rapid and heated. "You will not be like the rest of them, I simply will jot have it. Because I happen to think you are a wonderful person, and it would be a shame to put that to waste. So, if you ever try to be like that, I will dump a bucket of ice-water over your head. Understand?" He started laughing, but not in the hysterical way, because we was not a maniac. He just wanted to make sure that she wasn't influenced by them, and he hoped she realized that.

Yeah, it is, sorry... I forgot to put that up there.

Nathan laughed, throwing his head back. "Hey, you're pretty funny too!" He joked back. "Turn right, second door to the left." He walked into the classroom beside her, and noticed the class was almost empty. He gazed around, debating which desk to choose.
