    Va Malae waited by the river, his head high and his tail dipped into the water.
    He was waiting, waiting for a cat to come by. He flicked his ears forward and leaped from the rock in the middle of the river to the bank, and hid under a giant tree, which roots held it up and formed a cave beneath it.
    Va instantly blended with the roots; his brown tabby fur stuck up as he settled into a move he was taught, to slither out from behind something and wrap a front paw around a cat's eyes and mouth, then unsheathe their claws and drag the cat away.
    It was a simple yet brilliant capture technique.
    Va yawned silently, as the sun started to rise and birds began to sing. Someone would pass by soon.

    The scent of a young cat hit Va's nose and he crouched, ready to slide out and pull the she-cat into the shadows. The reason he was capturing was to recruit for The Hidden. Seeing the cat through some bushes, he slid from the tree and stopped behind her. He lashed out a paw and attempted to cover her face, unsheathing his claws as a threat. He took a step back, as to tell her to follow him or be injured.

She stared at him for a moment, not sure what to do. Fight or flight, fight or flight... She avoided eye-contact, and then sighed. "What do you want?"

    Va dragged her under the tree. "Quiet," he hissed angrily. "If you don't shut up I'll drown you." He shoved her to the floor and circled her swiftly, his blue-gray eyes pinned on her. "What's your name?" He growled.

    Va was about to lash out at her when the other cat attacked. He screeched and ran from under the tree, his claws scoring the mud. He turned around and raced up a gigantic root and shot up the slick tree, panting on a branch.
    These were river cats, cats who couldn't climb. They would just wait him out, and he would again use another one of The Hidden's tricks.

    Va had been surprised that the cat could climb, but when he was knocked down his weight caused him to get caught in the vines. He thrashed about, slicing at the green that was wrapped around his paws and stomach, biting and kicking, and finally, with a riiiippp, tore free from the vines, crashed into the roots below. He tumbled and whirled around with a yowl of anger, shaking with fury.
    She-cats.
    Why was it always she-cats. Va Malae gave a low growl. "Back off, scrap!" He chanted at Leaffang, lashing his feathery tail and sliding his claws across the mud.

    Va rolled his eyes and stepped out of the way, but Leaffang did succeed in giving him a gash between his shoulder and neck. He winced, then padded to the cat he had tried to capture, sitting beside her. "Is she always like this?" He muttered, licking the wound on his shoulder.
