  • || Adria ~ Reid ||

    Adria's phone buzzed in the cup holder next to her seat in the car. She picked it up, holding it above the wheel to see who it was. Hurry to the school. I've got warm bagels and chocolate chip cream cheese. It was Reid. She smiled to herself as she put down the phone. Three years they had been friends, and yet some habits never died. Every Friday morning, Reid would buy them both breakfast. Adria would buy lunch later that day, and whoever's kitchen was better stocked would make dinner. Adria could hear Mira rumble low with anticipation for the day. Fridays were when Adria and Reid had the most classes together so the two were close enough that Mira could busy herself by playing with Mason. Or rather, playing around him. Mira was still quite young for a dragon, and still very playful, but Mason had past his kitten phase long ago. It was a miracle he had the patience to tolerate her. Adria glanced up through the roof of the car to where Mira lie. It was lucky that no one else could see her spirit. What a strange site that would be to see on the road: a dragon riding atop a car, even though they could just as easily fly and avoid traffic too. In truth, she knew Mira liked it on car roofs to sunbathe, but she also knew she would be sleeping most of the day away, as school was just as boring for her as it was for Adria.
    At this point, Adria came to the student parking for Portland Community College and found her usual parking spot was taken. It was not specifically hers, but it was usually open at this time of the morning. Once another spot was found, Adria gathered her bag and strode to her meeting place with Reid. He smiled to her as she sat down across the table from him. The table was just beneath a large oak tree, but also next to one of the walkways that snaked through the school. A perfect compromise between Adria's love of trees and Reid's talent of skateboarding. The two sat and talked as they ate their bagels, until Reid's alarm went off for his first class. "I'll catch you at lunch!" He called to her as he trotted across the grass to the buildings. Adria waved in goodbye, but a strange feeling filled the air moments later. A feeling like something was coming, something out of the usual.
    "I wonder who I'll meet today," she thought allowed. Mira hung her slender scaled next down from her perch in the oak's branches and hummed a deep alto as she shared this premonition and reveled in the excitement.

    IC: A rusty old pick-up rattled into the parking lot, the faded blue paint disguising the girl hidden away inside it. Once she parked, Bastet threw the door open, the rusty hinges barely allowing it to move before she slid out with mussed hair. "Grr, not this early in the morning," she growled softly as she raked her fingers through her hair, adjusting a purse strap before she picked a few notebooks up. Slamming the door shut, Bastet clicked the locks, and she walked away once she heard the car beep softly. "Rust bucket," she grumbled as she bowed her head, hiding behind her hair as she shuffled to grab a quickie at the vending machine. "Come on come on come on," she hissed between her teeth as the chips started getting stuck, and she banged the glass, allowing it to fall. "Thank you!" Bastet sighed gratefully as she reached in and grabbed the bag

  • || Adria ~ Reid ||

    Adria dug through her bag for her water bottle, but her hand was met with only papers and books and yesterday's empty bottle. "Not again..." Adria had a habit of forgetting little things, like refilling her water every night before she went to sleep. She glanced across to the buildings opposite the ones Reid had disappeared into. It wasn't a far walk to the vending machines, and she had enough cash on her to get water and still have enough for their lunch. Adria turned back to the tree where Mira was still draped. "Care for a walk, my heart?" she asked her. There was hardly anyone here at this hour, no one to stare at a girl seemingly talking to a tree. Mira opened one eye to peer at her, pondering if she truly wanted to go. There was a substantial pause before she slid her long body off the branch, landing lightly on her forepaws. She yawned and shook out her wings for a moment before bounding away across the grass, her scales flashing emerald in the morning sun. It was amusing sometimes how like a small cat Mira was. Adria shook her head, smiling at this thought, before striking out in the same direction, pulling out her wallet as she did so.
    Adria arrived at the vending machines just as Mira hopped up to sit on top the one for beverages. Just to the left of that, was a machine for snack foods, in front of which stood a tall woman looking very grateful for the bag of chips in her hand. "Good morning," she smiled brightly as she inserted a dollar for a water. Adria had to stifle a laugh as Mira lowered her snout to sniff the top of the woman's head. The she-dragon was always playing around people, sniffing them, swishing her tail at them, beating her wings next to them. She knew that few would ever notice, but it made life fun for her so Adria never made her stop.

    Fauna ☪ Giselle ☪ Doherty

    With a calm pace, Fauna walked into the school grounds, her usual overly happy smile gracing her small yet pointy face. The girl looked eerily calm as she entered through the front doors and began for her first class. She was late... again, but Fauna didn't mind the punishment she got, if she got one. The teachers never really liked to spend hours on end with the class clown in a closed environment. The girl looked down at her side, staring at her overly large Gryphon that walked near her, the same overly happy smile on his own bird like face. She pet him between the ears, smothering him purposely before the two suddenly began having a lovely conversation about what they were going to do to the teachers and other students today. As the conversation with Ares seized, Fauna opened the door to her class loudly, staring at the teacher with amusement and mischievousness lacing her eyes. "Im not late... The entire class is just early."

    After her loud, high pitched statement, Fauna returned to her usual seat, eyes staring at Ares, who stayed at the front of the class. He was awfully too big to sit near her anyways. The girl sat down, giving a cheery and slightly cheeky smile towards Reid before putting her attention to what the teacher had said previously, eyes now glaring at Fauna and other students in the class. Reid; Fauna and him had had so many classes together that she eventually befriended the male. She didn't know much about him as they weren't close of friends, but at least they were something. Fauna wrote down her notes happily, trying to contain her giggles. Why was she laughing? Ares was poking the teacher in bored amusement, making the teacher turn around in confusion before continuing the lesson. It was simple, but amusing none the less.

  • Seth seated outside in the courtyard, sketching out a picture of a tree for his mandatory visual arts class. He just needs the credit to graduate, but it feels as if this class would never end. He absolutely despised it with all the hate and rage that he could muster, the hate and rage he usually kept for Xavier. He didn't have a single artistic bone in his body and it wasn't as if he was going to graduate with a masters in the subject.

    Just as Seth was finishing the picture, his pencil suddenly slid across the paper, creating this dark line that was going to be trouble to erase. He sighed and flipped the pencil over and began erasing it. "Cute," Seth sarcastically spoke. "I was sitting out here all morning and you waited until I was finished to mess it up."

    Xavier was sitting beside him, watching the boy carefully before he replied. "Don't bother. It looks like that tree had been run over by a semi. Besides, you need to remember that grades and college is not what's important at the moment."

    Seth rolled his eyes and threw the journal in his backpack. "Why does training matter to you so much? I've got you to chase those demons away so I'm in the cle-," He spoke before stopping abruptly when he noticed people staring at him. What was weirder than a guy talking to himself about demons and training? He sighed and simply glared at a smirking Xavier before he headed back into the building, being followed quickly by Xavier.

    IC: "Oh! Um... hi," Bastet said shyly, ducking her head meekly and shifting the load of notebooks in her hand awkwardly. She knew the twining little wolf around her legs wasn't gonna help, so she just started to slink away. "Nice Jackie, thanks for telling me!" She hissed softly before shaking her head. Popping the bag of chips open, Bastet started nibbling on the cheddar cheese Sunchip, pausing every now and then to lick her fingertips clean like a cat. When she was done she dutifully walked to the trash can and threw the bag away, Jackie following silently as she morphed into her humanoid form.

  • OOC: good gawd, you all are posting at 4:30 and 6:30 and 8:30 in the morning for me. Now it's 12:43 and I only just woke up maybe twenty minutes ago >.< What are all your time zones? Pacific Time over here

    || Adria ~ Reid ||

    Reid looked up from his paper and over at Fauna as she sat down. She was positively bubbling with high paced energy, which was taking on a distinctly orange hue. She was playing another joke, and it was coming fast. Reid held back his own smile, hoping it would be something good. Statistics was the worst class; he was sure he was not the only one who needed a break from Prof. O's incessant droll. He was about to continue with his notes, but movement at the front of the class caught his eye. Why was the professor turning around like that? A moment's more concentration showed him a faint trace of energy, but the more he looked, the clearer and larger it became. It's a spirit... Reid stared longer at its patterning before realizing it was Fauna's spirit. Of course, he smiled to himself, rolling his eyes. I hope this wasn't your whole plan, Fauna; you're losing your touch, he mused silently.

    ~*~*~*~

    Adria tilted her head as she watched the woman walk away. There was something different about her. There was a feel to her energy that most people didn't have. Adria wasn't as good at seeing energy as Reid, but she could most certainly feel it. It was strong from this woman, but still chaotic in a shy sort of a way. Does she know? she asked no one in particular. Mira was already beginning to slip off the top of the vending machines. She might have been small for a dragon, but there was still enough of her that she didn't quite fit on top of them. When sitting on her haunches, Mira's shoulders came to about Adria's ribs, and her long neck put her head far above Adria's, or even Reid's. Mira noticed her growth and how it was making her slip sideways, but still she tried to pull herself back up; a futile attempt, for a moment later she had to dive off to the side to avoid falling. I meant to do that... she mumbled sheepishly at no one really, but Adria smiled at her antics. Of course you did, dear, but it's time for my class now anyways. The pair walked off to medium sized building with large glass windows for the roof. Her first class that day was her favorite. Environmental sciences were her forte.

  • Seth walked through large crowds of fellow students, all of them completely oblivious to what was to happen the next day. They did not know that tomorrow would be the day of their death, the day that life started to break apart and all you could do was scramble to gather the pieces after the fact. He was broken from his train of thought, however, at the sound of Xavier's voice.

    "Do not feel sorry for them," Xavier warned. "Death is a natural part of life, something all of them will one day experience even if they survive tomorrow."

    Seth just sighed and nodded. "I know it's just... Life makes everything too complicated. Can you honestly say that you hope that they die?" He asked.

    Xavier remained silent for a long moment before he replied. "I cannot, but just the same I cannot wish them life either. You need to focus on yourself and your own survival."

    Seth did not respond this time, and instead just sat down in his environmental science class. He took his books out of his bags as well as a pencil before placing it on the desk, face bland of emotions as he traveled into deep thought.

  • OOC: Ib, I would just like to point out how while I was thinking on what to write I caught myself watching your sig with the snake yawning, and then a moment later, I yawned -____- even through video, between species, yawns are still contagious. XD

    || Adria ~ Reid ||

    Adria repressed a shiver as she walked in the classroom moments after a young man. A buzz filled the air, something which no one else seemed to notice, but strong feelings of anger and resentment emanated from the man. Mira bared her teeth as she sensed it too, and quickly loped back outside to lie in the sun. Oh, he most certainly knows... Adria thought, half curious of what his spirit might be, half fearful of what may have caused such massively negative emotions. Maybe they're not all his, she wondered, her eyes roaming the large room, unsure of where his spirit might be. Adria, to the disapproval of Mira, resolved to try to speak to this person after class.
    She then tried to turn her attention to the beginning lecture, hoping her favorite subject would distract her well enough from the energy in the room.

  • OOC: And I'd like to point out that when my snake yawns, it's way cuter. Ask Nightcore, she's seen him in person before and he's just oh so cute. He has little raccoon eyes and a mustache and he looks like a panda... I know none of that makes sense but again, ask Nightcore, he actually has all of those traits which makes him seriously adorable.

    Seth took out a sheet of paper and began to copy down notes that had been written on the board. He hadn't really noticed Mira, as he was more focused on trying to block out Xavier who was determined to get him out of this classroom and back to training. In the middle of the lecture, Xavier knocked the pencil out of his hand and onto the floor beside his desk. He just sighed and shook his head slowly. "I don't know why I expected more," He murmured to the spirit before bending over to pick the pencil up, just as Xavier knocked the textbooks off of his desk and onto his head. Seth clenched his teeth and rubbed the back of his head, turning back towards Xavier who was just smiling in satisfaction. Seth opened his mouth to curse the spirit out but no words came out as he realized the professor had taken notice of this.

    "It does not matter to me what you do with your text books, but at least destroy them on your own time so that you do not disrupt class," The professor said, clearly not amused. Seth just nodded and stood from his seat to grab his books, but just as he did that Xavier knocked them away from his hands.

    "We need to train," Xavier reminded him, determined to get him either kicked out or to the point of frustration where he'd walk out. Seth simply ignored the spirit as he went to grab his text books again and the spirit, yet again, knocked them farther away.

    The professor was still waiting, leaning against the whiteboard as he watched Seth struggle with his books. "Any day now Mr. Hunt?" He asked, getting ready to just point to the doors and ask him to leave. Seth simply nodded and grabbed the books just as Xavier was getting ready to knock them away once more. The force caused him to stumble a bit but he had managed to finally get ahold of them. Seth quickly scurried back to his seat and sat down, allowing for the professor to continue his lecture.

  • OOC: THAT SOUNDS SO CUTE GAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I tried getting a snake last summer but it came down to money and space and time :c couldn't get her, but she was beautiful <333

    || Adria ~ Reid ||

    Adria's eyes widened at the scene she had just witnessed. There was very little a spirit could control in the physical world, as they mostly didn't need to. Anything with an aura of its own - other spirits, people, anything living - they could interact with, but only in small ways. A large spirit could not entirely pick up a person, but they could poke them or trip them. But to move something as inanimate as a text book, that was new to Adria. This was a strong spirit the man had with him.
    Just over an hour later, the lecture ended. It was interesting, but Adria had been fairly distracted. The moment the professor dismissed them, she collected her things hurriedly, and waited impatiently for the flow of students to subside enough that she could leave her seat. She could see through the gaps between people that the man was still there, and for this she was relieved. Curiosity would kill her if she had to wait much longer to find out about this boy and his spirit. The moment the flood of students slowed, Adria stood, and waited by the door.

    ~*~*~*~

    Around that same time, Reid's class ended as well. He gathered his things and called over to Fauna: "Hey! What are you doing for the next hour?" It was about 10 o'clock, and he had some time before his next class. The time was too short to go home, but to long to simply wait. His and Adria's next class were in the same building, so maybe they could all hang between now and then.

  • OOC: Wow, that's a really stupid argument to place on a snake. There one of the cheapest, less time consuming, less space consuming animals you can ever get. Mine cost us $4 a month for food and maybe $20 for the electricity bill, in all honesty I only need to put in maybe an hour a month to clean his bedding because they don't require all this attention, and I have a super small snake so he lives happily in a 10 gallon aquarium. He's a sand boa and he's only 13 inches, big as he'll ever get. I have a TON of pictures of him on my laptop. My favorite one is a picture I took of him in our Halloween candy bucket. I had placed him on the counter so I could go and put up my textbooks, came back and he had managed to find his way into the candy... I swear, give me the opportunity and I will talk nonstop about my snake.

    Xavier was obviously upset with Seth as he watched the man collect his things. "We're running out of time and time is a very precious thing," The spirit said but Seth just smiled and shook his head.

    "We've been training for months, there's nothing left for me to learn, left to improve on. I'm ready for tomorrow and a day extra of training is not going to fix that," Seth said, looking up to the spirit before him. "And what if you're wrong? What if nothing happens tomorrow and I ended up missing all of my classes?"

    Xavier's lips pulled into a snarl. "I have never been wrong before Seth. Your a naïve, stupid human that's no different than any other. I'm trying to help you, help you survive a new world order and you treat me as if I'm the one with an issue," The spirit hissed.

    Seth sighed and threw his backpack over his shoulder. "Well maybe, just maybe you are the one with an issue Xavier," He said before he walked to the door, stopping abruptly at the sight of a girl standing in his way. "Uh... Hi?"

  • OOC: OMG ASDFGHJKL!!!! THAT'S TOO CUTE X3 And when I mean money, I mean for the snake itself. I wanted a different kind of boa. It would have made it to about 4 feet, and it was a rare coloring so it made it all the more expensive and my mom wouldn't pay for it or the food. As for space, the only place she would have let me keep it would have been my room, and I literally have no room for even a one gallon tank, assuming those exist. And then the one thing that there's really no way around even if I could suddenly get the money for everything and the room for the tank is that I refuse to feed it live mice but my mom refuses to let me keep frozen one's in the house anywhere at all. I just have to wait until I can get around these factors or my mom grows up and gets over the mice thing

    || Adria ~ Reid ||

    Adria looked at him closely as he spoke aloud to his spirit. "They can still here you if you think it. Helps with the funny looks," she hinted, throwing her gaze this way and that at the different sets of eyes which peered questioningly at the young man. "My name's Adria. Walk with me for a minute?" Her mind's eye showed her Mira stretched out between a wall and a rose bed, dozing lightly the hour away. She woke her spirit, asking her to join her. Another chill ran down Adria's spin from the proximity to such potent energy. Perhaps she should find Reid as well.

  • OOC: One gallon tanks do exist, as like beta bowls and stuff. But my snake eats very readily on frozen pinkie mice and there's no issue with keeping it in the garage fridge.

    Seth nodded slowly. "Seth," He introduced himself. "And I'm fully aware that he can hear me if I choose not to talk aloud, he just chooses not to listen when I do." He was a little surprised that she was aware of Xavier's presence, as he had thought he was the only crazy person in the world. It raised many questions that popped up in his mind, and also created some suspicions. "But how did you know... who I was talking to?" He asked, ignoring Xavier who was following closely behind, watching the girl with careful eyes.

    IC: Bastet went and sat in Biology, Jackie chttering softly in her war, "Life 101." Bastet had to stifle her chuckle, bruhsing at her ear nonchalanty as Jackie withdrew with a chuckling hiss. Crossing her legs under the desk, Bastet leaned forward slightly and sighed. Biology wasn't bad - far from it - but it got repetitive after a while. Hopefully they'd start the more interesting subject today - genetics. Oh, Bastet dreamed of becoming a geneticist, finding out and possibly manipulating genes to produce the most desireable traits in anything organic. She was, as normal, ahead of time to class, so she carefully drew her phone out if her pocket and unlocked it. Her bright gold eyes scanned the songs she had stored on the memory, and she clicke one for a Halo soundtrack, listening as the thrum of cellos filled the empty auditorium

  • OOC: But we don't have a working garage fridge. It's just not a feasible option as a pet right now, as much as I hate that. I'll get one in time, just not now.

    || Adria ~ Reid ||

    Adria sent out a quick text to Reid saying to meet at the tree table before looking back at Seth. "I notice things," she said simply. "But to be fair, I don't know who you were talking to, only that you were. What is his name?" Adria sat down at the table beneath the oak as Mira jumped and flapped her wings once to return to her favorite, wide branch. Her tail coiled about the wood for balance as she dipped her head from the low branch to breath gently against Adria's hair. It was her way of saying she was right there. They both could still feel the torrents of negative energies and it had begun to weight heavily on her heart.

  • Seth glanced behind him for a moment towards his spirit. Xavier was obviously against him staying with this girl any longer. "The clock is ticking Seth. Tick, tock, tick tock, tick, tock," Xavier reminded him, anxious to get him away from this girl. Seth could only guess it was because it was taking away from his time of training, but the honesty of the situation is because Xavier wanted to keep Seth's true self in the dark and this girl, who seemed to know so much about the spiritual world, was a threat to that security.

    Seth then turned his head back to Adria after a long moment of watching Xavier. "Um... Xavier, or at least that's what I called him. I don't know his real name or anything, he's never told me," He said, sitting down beside the girl.

  • || Adria ~ Reid ||

    "And rightly he shouldn't. No one should. The names we have, Adria, Seth, Xavier, Mira - that's my spirit's name, by the way - are none of our true names. Names are powerful things. If you ever find your own, keep it safer than any secret you've ever had." Adria meant every word. True names could be used to control someone's future, if one had the proper knowledge. "What is Xavier? I mean, Mira is a dragon, so what species is he?"

    ~*~*~*~

    When Reid received Adria's text, his eyes widened a little. She didn't give any detail but it sounded urgent. "Actually, Fauna, I gotta run. Meet me by the big oak tree if you can make it!" Without another word, Reid shouldered his bag and bolted out of the building, slowing only when the grand oak came into view. He narrowed his eyes as he came upon Adria sitting at their table with a guy he'd seen around the campus but had never talked to. Mason had woken from his nap and padded along beside him. His eye's narrowed slightly, trying to interpret the scene before him. Adria turned and smiled a hello to Reid as he sat down next to her. She silently drank in some of the warm energy that constantly surrounded him, perhaps more grateful for her friend than she had been in a long time. "Reid, this is Seth," she said, "and Xavier is somewhere near here as well." Reid looked sharply at her, raising an eyebrow.
    "He knows?" he asked her, and she nodded in affirmation. Reid turned his eyes back to Seth, looking intently, allowing his mind to recognize his energy. His aura was strong, showing that he did in fact know, but the aura's color was a very dark red. He was not happy with his spirit. Casting his eyes about, he saw the green shape lounging across a branch above their heads that was Mira, and on the grass just behind Seth, another shape of energy stood, large and darker in color even than Seth's. His eyes narrowed as they fell back to Seth. "Interesting... Neither of you seem quite content in the least."

  • Seth pressed his lips together firmly as he questioned whether or not to answer that question. The one detail he had known about his past with Xavier was simply how Xavier had been created and even that wasn't a very specific story. He opened his mouth to speak but just as quickly his backpack was thrown off of his shoulders and onto the ground behind him, Xavier giving Seth his two cents on the conversation. Seth sighed and shook his head slowly. "I'm afraid I'm not allowed to get any more specific than his name," He told Adria with a shrug of his shoulders.

    Seth than glanced behind him towards Reid and nodded briskly. "We never have been and we never will. Neither of us had wanted to be together, it was something we were forced into when our hands were tied," He said, not going into detail about the story in case Xavier tried something else to stop him from speaking.
