"Starting tomorrow,"
Zero nodded, getting up and casually walk out of the room as he heard disagreement. He flattened his ears to block out the noise, glancing up at the blazing Sun that was beginning to set. They'd slept all day. -
Night looks at the setting sun alone aud away from everyone.
-
Zero was tempted to run through the closing maze doors but held his ground hesitantly. He shook his head and wet to the cook to raid his food pile.
-
.Night lays down watching everyone do their thing.
-
Zero heads back to Night with a fat rabbit and sparrow in his jaws. He givers her the rabbit and settles down beside her, poking his food with a black paw. Zero took a bite, glancing over at Night with a puzzled look.
-
Night refused the rabbit and just lays there. She was in no mood at all to eat or even sleep. The terrible monsters had made feel this way. Fear and terror was all over the young she cat body. Her body still shook by just the tiny memory of it.
-
"Hey, Greenie," Zero whispered, sliding over to her with a worried look.
"I know it's hard but, if you ever need me, I'm right here." He hesitantly pressed against Night and sorrow grasped him as he felt her shaking.
"Right here…" he murmured, closing his orange eyes slowly. -
Night looks at him sadly, "Why..Why take all the blaim?"
-
Zero opened his eyes, gazing up at her as if it was a rhetorical question.
"I'm a leader, Night," he explained. "They went easy on because of it. If it were you, you would've been..." Zero paused, swallowing hard. "Banished." He looked at the closed maze doors, resting his head on his paws.
"Ever wonder who our parents were?" -
"I do" she said and lays her head down as well.
-
Zero sighed and gazed up at the inked sky, his eyes watering.
"Kinda sad, ya know?" He cleared his throat. "That someone would want to do something so horrible to us. Everyone here should be apprentices." Zero flattened his ears as he heard the beasts stirring behind the wall.
"I've had flashbacks of where we should've lived," -
"Really? Were there a lot of cats?" Night looks at him kinda like a kit would. She is lost and want to find her real family.
-
"Lots. And, t-there were warriors, apprentices, and even kits." Zero whispered. "A leader, too. They lived in a huge forest!" He used his paws to exaggerate the word huge. Zeros eyes grew sad and watery.
"And they were so happy..." -
Night nudges him softly, "Come on stop crying. You don't want cats to think you are weak or anything."
-
Zero laughed, wiping his eyes with a wide grin.
"Not everyday you get to share things like this, huh?" He exaggerate a yawn, standing up.
"I don't know about you, but I'm heading to bed," -
"OK I'm going to stay out here a bit more" she said softly.
-
Zero paused by her side, reluctant to leave her.
"A-are you sure?" he asked softly. He was honestly lonely but didn't dare say so out loud. -
Night looks at him, "You could stay here if you like. I can't really sleep due to what happen in the maze."
-
Zero nodded and, without hesitation, he sat beside Night. He gazed at the maze doors, his eyes sharp and alert. Zero saw Rangers patrolling the area, the Rangers glaring at the two.
