The FAIL

Zero nodded, waiting for her to finish stretching with a flick of his tail. He sprinted into the maze, making a right without hesitation. He increased his speed taking in deep breaths. Zero leaped, shouting at her to do also as spikes shot through the ground, tearing away the grass.

He began to breathe heavily as they ran faster, his eyes narrowed. Zero gasped, sliding to a halt his eyes wide.
"The…walls," he panted. "The walls have…been moving this whole time!" He snarled spitting and clawing at the grass.
"No wonder we can't find a way out!" Zero sighed, pulling off his pack.
"Break time. We've been running for 7 hours." He pulled out a rabbit with his sharp teeth.

He nibbled on it with a frown, setting it back in his bag.
"I'm not that hungry. You can rest if you want but--" Zero was cut off by a loud clicking noise, glancing up at the sky.
"We haven't been running for 7 hours," he gasped, watching the sunlight slip away.

Zero whipped around, his eyes widening to see the metal legs of the beast round the turn ahead. He dashed away with his sack, calling out for Night to follow. Zero ran at full speed, turning to look for Night and see if she was close by him.

"Great to know," he shouted, his legs a blur as he ran. "But now isn't the greatest time to talk!"
Zero heard the beast coming closer at an alarming rate, his heart feeling like it was going to burst. He rounds the corner, seeing the doors ahead as they screeched to close.
20 feet.
15.
Five.
They weren't going to make it.
Zero watched as his clanmates watched the doors reach out to close like claws. He cried out, only to slam into the closed doors.

"I don't know! No one's even lived at night when the doors are closed,"
Zero began to pace, the gears in his mind whirling. He grabbed a vine in his teeth, yanking as hard as he could.
Nothing.
He yanked again and again nothing happened.
"Climb!" He whispered, clawing his way up the wall.

Zero climbs until his arms felt like they were on fire, darkness engulfing the two cats. He tied some vines around his belly, doing the same to Night.
"Don't make any noises," he warned in a whisper. Bright red lights streamed down the maze, hearing the sickening sound of metal screeching against stone.
Whirle!
Click!

Zero felt the blood roaring in his ears as it felt like his heart was in his throat. He saw more red lights and disturbing gurgling noise, making him shudder violently.
Whirle!
Click!

Zero silently and mentally screamed at himself as one of the beasts stopped near the wall, everything growing quiet. Suddenly the red lights went out, darkness welcoming them. Zero moved his paw to touch Nights, holding his breath with sharp eyes. His fur bristled as he heard one climbing up the wall, the red lights burning back on like a blazing fire.

Zero made a final decision, fear grasping him like a giant claw. He untied the vines around his belly, swinging off. Zero screamed out at the top of his lungs, the monsters rearing their heads towards them
"Over here, f**k-faces!"
Zero ran away, hearing the horrible moans that escaped the monsters as his chest felt like it was going to explode. His legs were raw in pain but he kept running for Nights sake and sanity.

Zero leaped over spikes and landed awkwardly, clenching his teeth. He ran as fast as a bullet, the wind ripping at his fur. The blood roared in his ears, the Creatures moaning loudly, becoming closer.
Zero made a turn, gasping as another Creature blocked his way. They stopped, taunting and beckoning him.
Zero charged forward and cried out, the Creature reconciling slightly. Then the Creature charged back, both running at full speed.
At the last second, Zero dashed to the side, easily slipping by the Creature with his heart skipping a beat.
