Twilight took a seat across from her friend. "Enjoying the pastry, I see?" she asked, noticing the pie her friend was tearing through. As usual, she reminded herself silently.

"I, for one, am looking forward to the main event," Twilight replied. "Mind you, I have no idea what it is, but word is that Lyra has something big planned. An announcement, or something. I mean, why else would she throw a party out of the blue like this?" She threw her forelegs in the air for emphasis.

Twilight put a hoof to her chin, stopping a moment to think. "Hey Pinkie... Do you think you could do a favor me?"

"Perfect!" Twilight clapped her hooves together before her horn went aglow and a small leather pouch levitated out of her saddlebags. "I need you to fire this at me with your party cannon when I give you signal, okay? And whatever you do, don't let out the contents until you're loading it. They will expire almost instantly if you do."

Twilight didn't even bother to wonder where the thing had come from, considering there had been nothing there a moment before. "Perfect! Now, I'll give a signal when it's time to fire. In the meantime, though..." She took a moment to glance about. "Where are the others? They didn't oversleep, did they..?"

"Sorry I late y'all I was busy helping Fluttershy get her critters all rounded" Applejack said trotting over to them. Fluttershy followed sheepishly she perked up when she got to her friends "Sorry Angel would not to bed" she said motioning to Angel on her back "So he came with me" she said with a slight smile.

Twilight put a hoof to her chin, considering whether or not to fire off yet. She took a moment to look around seeing that guests were still arriving. "No, I think I'll wait until everypony's here. Speaking of everypony..." The alicorn shot a glare at her draconic companion, who had scurried off before and was now trying to eat one of the crystal punch glasses. He set it down and returned, grumbling about how much of a good idea it seemed like at the time.

Twilight moved to join her friends, but was cut off by a commotion near the entrance. Various partygoers were abandoning their activities and turning their heads to stare at somepony who just walked in. A pony they all knew well, but hadn't actually expected to arrive. The same pony who had insisted on not coming, saying she wasn't ready and that she may have to skip.
