    Sam only muttered something under his breath and returned to his original position, settling his pluming tail against his brother's side and casting a tired glance at Castiel.

    A short while later, Sam's eyes flew open as he jerked awake, panting heavily as sweat beaded on his brow. The moon had replaced the setting sun and cast an eerie light through the windows, just bright enough for the shepherd to make out his brother and friend's sleeping frames.
    "...Just a dream. It's just a stupid dream."
    Even as he muttered that to himself his chest still heaved for air and his paws trembled, vile images of death and floodwater polluting his mind. Cas is right there. Nobody's dead. See? Dean's right next to you.
    He released a short growl and buried his head in his paws, trying to ignore the nearly painful thoughts and get himself back to sleep. What caused him to have such a brutal nightmare? He couldn't quite put a claw on it, but the hunch began to bug him.
    "Dean, you awake?" he hissed the words as silently as possible, in case his brother was still asleep.

He was mumbling something about not wanting to do this, not wanting to hurt them. Soon, they returned to their natural blue and he moved closer to Dean. "Angel's are a$$butts..." he muttered.
