    Amber stayed still but inside her stomach looping with butterflies. What was going to happen? Were they going to be appointed to adviser? Was Amber going to be able to fufil his ambition.

    Finally Corky addressed the two she-cats. "Neither of you got an apprentice, so I wanted to talk to you. The trip will be long and hard, and I want you two to periodically scout ahead and behind, and be in charge of warning the rest of the patrol of danger." She paused to look both cats in the eyes. "Dew will be looking after the two apprentices, and I will be leading, so I need you two to help keep the patrol safe from danger. Understood?"

    "Certainly," Amber answered instantly. "You can count on me." She was excited to be assigned this special job but disapointed as well for there had been no mention of a promotion.

    Holiday breathed in the toms warm scent. She blushed as she lifted her head up to face his beautiful eyes. She gave Rainpaw a warm gaze, her violet eyes bright and soothing and her mouth in a small smile.


    Amethyst nodded. "Me as well" She agreed, bowing her head respectfully. "I wont let you down"

    "Do you want to go hunting?" he asked, suddenly wanting to be out of the cluttered camp full of strange new feelings and positions.

    "You don't have," Rainpaw panted, "to slow down for me," he finished, breathless. Running was not the three-legged cat's strong-suit.

    Seeing his sister was taking care of Amber and Amethyst, Rico looked around camp. Seeing Holiday and Rainpaw together, he smiled, the two would make good partners for hunting and patrols.

    Holiday nodded. "I understand" She mewed. "My sister was born blind" She recalled the moments before she left, seeing her sister laying their, watching her go.
