Mina padded into the medicine cat den. "F-Florence?" she called.

[fancypost borderwidth=0px][justify][size=8]The she-cat had been stocking herbs when she heard a voice calling her name. Turning the chocolate tortoiseshell saw Mina standing in the den. A warm smile came to the she-cat's face. "Hello there, dear. Anything I can help you with?" she asked.

Mina looked up at the medicine cat. "I w-was wondering if y-you can t-teach me a l-little bit of h-herbs," she said.

[fancypost borderwidth=0px][justify][size=8]The medicine cat smiled and nodded her head. Learning herbs was always great for cats to learn. The basics could very well save their life one day. "Of course!" she purred, padding over to the stocking shelves and pulling out two black seeds which were commonly used for killing pain as well as making cats sleep. "Do you know what these are?"

Mina looked at the two seeds that Florence brought out. "P-poppy seeds," she said.

[fancypost borderwidth=0px][justify][size=8]"Very good, but that was simple. Well, first of all, do you know what it does? And what kind of cat should you not give it to?" Florence asked. The first question was probably very easy, but the second one . . . Florence hadn't known that until late apprenticeship.

The first question was very simple. The second not so much. Oh well. She'd give it a try. "P-poppy seeds r-relive pain and p-put you t-to sleep. You s-shouldn't give t-them to a k-kit?" she guessed.

[fancypost borderwidth=0px][justify][size=8]"Very nice, but actually poppy seeds can be given to a kit, as long as you don't overdose them. They're not supposed to be given to pregnant she-cats because they can be seen as poisonous to the kits growing inside of them," Florence explained, smiling at the apprentice's efforts before pulling out some marigold, another relatively easy herb. She'd do a harder one next. "Do you know what this is and what it does?"

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px][justify][size=8]No poppy seeds for pregnant queens; noted. Mina also kept mind not to give an overdose of herbs to a kit. Wow, good things to learn, she thought before directing her full attention to the flower Florence brought out. The first part of the question was very easy. The herb was marigold. The golden petals on the flower gave that away. But the second part was a little bit harder. If she hadn't been punctual to herb training sessions, she would have figured it out. But luckily she had. "It is m-marigold. Use t-to prevent in-infection. I b-believed you ch-chew it up and a-apply it t-to the w-wound," she said.

[fancypost borderwidth=0px][justify][size=8]ooc. Oh, I am so sorry I forgot completely about this!

ic. Florence nodded, so far impressed by Mina's knowledge of herbs, even if they were the basics. The basics were the ones everyone needed to learn because they were more commonly used. Next, she took out a little white flower known as feverfew. She flicked her tail and pushed it out in front of the fox. "Very good, this one is harder. Do you know what it is?"

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px][justify][size=8]Actually, Mina had no idea what the flower was. She went through her mind over and over, but she couldn't place it. "I d-don't know," she said. She stared at the flower.
