"A bear, and I was about to die, but I killed it. I had to be tended to for a few week though, the reason we kill the animal is because it is believed that if a boy kills a predator the spirit of the predator will enter the boy and give him the strength of a warrior." He explained, "To you, your culture might be ordinary but I would like to hear about it." He smiled.

She looked at him and blinked. What would he even want to know? There was so much to tell... She took the twig and twirled it around, watching it with a small cock of her head. "My culture is...difficult to explain. What would you like to know, specifics though, don't just say everything. There's too many things to name..."

He thought for a moment about what to ask, he had so many questions that popped into his mind. But when he focused on her dress he thought of something, "Why do you and your people wear such strange cover ups? And why are the female cover ups so.... Big?" He asked her, "Doesn't that make it hard to run around in?" He asked

Crystal cocked her head and smiled slightly. "Well most women don't run around. I'm one of the few who would rather get dirty than clean the dirt. And as for why they're so big...it mostly for modesty..."

"Wow, I pitty your females," he chuckled. "Our woman wear either a shoe dress to the knees or a skirt and a top to cover their chest," he said. "We don't care much for modesty, it gets pretty hot and when we have to works he less layers the better," he explained. "Why did your people come to our land? Don't you have enough?"

Crystal looked at the ground sadly. It wasn't her choice to come here. If it had been her choice, she would have stayed back in England. Instead, her father was being greedy and wanted more and more property. She sighed and looked up at him with sadness in her eyes. "I don't know. If it had been my choice, I would not have taken anything from your people."

"Oh.." He said softly. He looked up at her as the moonlight radiated off her face. "You look almost like a spirit." he said softly. He raised his hand to her face and took a strand of her hair in-between his fingers examining it, "You have a very beautiful hair color." he complimented, "I didn't know women could have a hair color other than black."

Crystal looked at him when he mentioned a spirit, then blushed when he commented on her hair. She held onto the twig tighter and looked at the ground. "Thank you..." She said quietly, then looked back up at him. "A lot of people have hair color different from black. Back in England it's actually not a common color..." She mused.

"Really?" he asked wondering what other colors there were. "At what age do the woman in your village get married?" he asked, "Because you look like you are of age to take a husband, and not to mention your beauty will definitely intrigue men." he added. He didn't know why but for some reason he didn't want her to be married.

She blinked and looked up at him before shrugging lightly. "I suppose whenever we want. I mean, I've known people who their parents married them off before they were born.." She said quietly, not registering the fact he had just called he'd just called her beautiful.

"That was supposed to happen with me, but when me and my future bride were little kids we accidentally fell into a lake while chasing eachother. It was winter at the time so we both got very sick, I recovered. She didn't." he said. "Who were those people that came off the big canoe with you?" he asked, "Are they your family?" he added

Crystal was immediately saddened. She nodded in understanding and nodded once more in answer to his question. "Yes. They were my family and a few guards for my father..." She informed the indian. She was beginning to like this man, more than she should.

He picked up a small twig and started to doodle a symbol in the ground . When she spoke up he lifted his head and turned his attention toward Crystal."Guards?" he asked, "Is your father someone important?" he asked her.

Crystal watched him draw and nodded. "He's going to be the mayor of the town they're going to be building. They're planning on cutting down the forests..." She whispered, then looked up at him. "I can try to change his mind, but one way or another, you'll have to confront my father yourself. I can't do everything alone. Maybe... Maybe you could hold me hostage, make a deal with him? He's a reasonable man..." She said, a bit too quickly to be comfortable. Her father had been talking about tearing down the forest tomorrow and if that happened, most likely Taham and her own people would die. "He's planning on tearing it down tomorrow at sunset..."

When he heard what she said he froze. his heart dropped and he just stared at her. But he quickly recovered as a flash of anger ran through his body faster that lightning. He gritted his teeth together and quickly stood up, "I'm going to kill him." he said in a menacingly low whisper walking to the horse that was still tied to the tree branch. When it came to his tribe he was very protective, and often in a blind rage he would try to do something he would later on regret.

She gasped slightly and widened her eyes, standing up quickly and pulling on his arm. "Taham! You can't kill my father!" She said, well, pleaded. If he killed her father, she would have no choice but to go back to England. Either that or her people would fight against the indians. She continued to pull on his arm. "Please! I'll talk to him!"

He pushed her back ripping his arm free from her grip, "Crystal, you don't understand. My tribe is my life. And as a warrior it is my duty to protect the lives of my people. Even if it means that I might lose mine." he said adding the last part a little softer. He calmed down a bit but anger was still evident in his eyes, "I'm giving you a chance, talk to him. If he doesn't listen either, come up with a better plan, or I kill him."

She was suddenly very afraid of the man before her. She bit her lip and looked at him before turning and running back home without looking back. She ran inside and panted slightly. Her father raised his gaze from his desk and blinked, pushing his glasses down his nose slightly and eyeing her."Crystal, darling, what's wrong?" He asked in a quiet tone.
Crystal bit her lip. "You aren't going to tear down the forest...are you?" She asked. Her father blinked and stood up.
"Why?" He asked, stepping over to her and ushering her to sit. She sat down and held the hem of her skirt.
"Because... If you do... I'll have no plants to study..." She said. It was a lame excuse, but it was all she had. Her father sighed and patted her shoulder, heading up to his room without another word. Crystal stayed at the table where she was and closed her eyes, planning to stay there the entire night.

When she ran off, he undid his horse's rope and hopped off before galloping back to the village. When he arrived there he put his horse away before walking to his tent. He removed his clothes before climbing under his bison pelt blanket, but no matter how hard he tried he could not fall sleep. He was too worried about the village.

The moon was high in the sky and Crystal still couldn't sleep. She sighed and stood up, quietly exiting the house and sitting on the ground beside the door. She drew patterns on the hard earth with her finger and set her face stoic like it normally was. On the outside, she appeared to be a normal girl. On Ghe inside she was conflicted with two options. One, keep risking her life by spending time with the Indian man or two, stop seeing him altogether. After today's display, she realized how dangerous he could be, so she thought it best ti stay away from him and give the man time to cool down. Tomorrow, when he father wakes up, she will try again. And again. Anything to save the woods and the people inhabiting them.
