  • Rain nodded, and heaved herself off her haunches and to her paws, bending down to rasp her tongue affenctionately between the kits' ears. Legacy couldn't conceal a squeal of excitement.

  • The twins purred with exitement and happiness- they were finally getting a real family! "Thank you so much, Rain!" Minnie mewled.
    "Yes, thank you!" Mickie echoed.

  • Treekit hissed and padded in circles. it took her minutes to see a cat was standing off in a distance. She looked famileir. Muck was it? No she thought, it's Dusk. He blinked and rolled his eyes,"Hello there."

  • Rain dipped her head. "Happy to have more kits," she meowed unsarcastically, looking at Legacy, who was swallowing hard. Rain sighed. "Legacy, does your throat hurt?" she asked with sympathy glowing in her icy blue eye. Legacy nodded, swallowing again. Rain rolled her eyes. "Why didn't you say so?"

Legacy drew a paw across her throat after moving her jaws like a meow. Rain nodded. "You guys stay here, I need to collect some honey. I saw a beehive in the park that was dripping with the stuff, bees weren't there. I'll collect some in a leaf," she promised, racing off and returning a minute later with a sticky golden liquid in a leaf. She nodded to Legacy. "Go on, drink it."

  • Minnie and mickie padded over to stand next to their new sister. "Why does your throat hurt?" asked mickie.
"And what's honey?" Minnie looked at the leaf.

  • "Remember when that bee stung you, Mickey?" the gray blue cat mewed, "and the sticky stuff I put on the sting? That was honey. It also soothes throats. And, her throat hurts because she didn't quite take off all the fur on a squirrel, and it slightly scratched her throat."

  • "Oh, i remember!" Mickie nodded.
"Ooh, I've done that before," Minnie shuddered. "Mickie said to make sure all the fur was gone but I didn't listen!"

  • "Better?" Rain asked Legacy, licking her kit between the ears. Legacy's mouth moved like a squeal as she stumbled over, landing with a thump in a pool of water. Rain bent down and started to lick her dry, and Legacy batted her away, licking herself dry and padding out. Her cheeks puffed out and she went into the bushes, and came back out again, dousing her whiskers in the water. Muck floated in it. It was clear she was sick, a hairball. Rain sighed. "Lead the way, you guys," she mewed, "I want to get there before Moonrise; some dogs are ONLY out at night."

  • Legacy rode in her mother's mouth as Rain padded away down the street, lead by kits. When kittypets taunted her about getting blind, she set down the kit and sprang, clawing the kittypet to the ground and bounded up to catch up.

  • Mickie jumped when Rain clawed the stranger and looked at Minnie, who blinked soothingly at him and signaled with her tail to follow.

  • Minnie didn't reply, just pricked her ears. The sound of twolegs yowling and something breaking broke the silence, making Mickie jump nervously. "That's them," Minnie confirmed. "Don't worry, they don't come round this part of the house." She nodded to a more untidy part of the twoleg nest.
