    The torbie was at the oasis, twisting a golden ring with a peridot gem on her tail. her aunt found it for her, and she liked it.     Boredom lingered on a cold ebony face as large paws went one after the other, heading towards the oasis. If he was going to be out in the sun, he might at least be able to cool off when it got too hot, right? Tail swishing behind him, he halted when he saw a small tortoiseshell tabby sitting at the edge of the desert lake. Orange-amber irises narrowing, he proceeded with caution. Some of his Clanmates were rather finicky when they were disturbed, so one could never be too careful. Rockypaw sat down a ways away, bending his head over and letting his tongue spoon some of the water into his mouth.

    Secret didn't notice that somebody had sat down, and when she turned her head and saw Rockypaw she jumped. Her ring flew over the oasis, finally plopping in with a splash. "Shit.." She murmured, even though she wasn't allowed to say that word. "You scared me. What's your name?" She asked Rocky, turning to him. She would have to go get the ring soon, but it would be rude to just jump in to get it when somebody you didn't know was near. It was more polite to introduce yourself.     Rockypaw hadn't even blinked at her profanity, nor did he care, considering most of the cats around here used it often. Upon hearing a tiny splash, his tongue rolled back into his mouth and he looked up, noticing a golden object sinking into the depths of the pool. Looking towards Secretkit, he figured she expected him to introduce himself. "Rockypaw," he informed her. Then, flicking a raven-black tail towards the oasis, he asked, "You going to get that?" There was always the possibility she just didn't give a shit about it, but who knew? Some BloodClanners were impossible to read. Him, for instance.

    Well, he couldn't really swim, either, so this was an awkward situation. But Rockypaw would never admit as much aloud, so he remained silent. If this kitten was dumb enough to try to swim even though she'd drown, it wasn't really his problem. But he might be blamed for not helping her. Damn, this was complicated.

    "Well.. YOLO!" She said with a brave grin, jumping into the water anyways. yep, yolo was her motto. She tried to swim upwards and finally made it, taking a breath. She dived back under in search for her ring, when sighting it, she kicked until she got close. But, she needed air. She had come so far down to get the ring.. what if she didn't make it in time? She slipped the ring onto her paw and kicked as hard as she could for the surface.     YOLO? He could do nothing but stare at her. This was fucking insane. Yup, this was a suicide mission. Seeing her flailing in the water, he figured Secretkit likely wouldn't make it all the way back to shore. Sighing in exasperation and grumbling to himself, "I can't believe I'm doing this," the ebony masculine launched himself into the desert lake and paddled towards her, aiming to get his teeth in her scruff to haul her back to land.

    Amber opticals open and focusing on the blurry tortoiseshell tabby underwater, he saw her eyes begin to flutter closed. The necklace was still secure in her jaws, though, so he didn't need to worry about that. All this for a pendent! Was she crazy? Resisting the urge to just leave the idiot kitten here, his jaws closed around her scruff and he kicked up. They broke the surface and he breathed in deep through his nose before crashing back under the waves. God, this sucked! Struggling with her weight, considering the black masculine was quite young himself, he swam frantically to shore.


    He gasped when he felt sand underfoot rather than cold, cruel waves. He dropped Secretkit on the bank and collapsed beside her, a soggy black mound collecting sun-warmed grains of sand. A few coughs shook his body, and a bit of water, which he'd accidentally swallowed, came up with violent breaths. Casting his glance towards the feline beside him, he prodded her body. If she was dead, then this entire act would have been for nothing. And wouldn't that give him hell.

The light it her wet fur in the perfect manner that it reflected off of her, and her olive optics gleamed with happiness that she had gotten her ring back.     He watched as she coughed and sputtered. Oh, good- she was alive. At her words, he stared at her in disbelief. Okay, now the tom was going to bitch at her. He may do this with everyone, but it never got old for him. His roleplayer also finds it hilarious to have others rage at him. "Are you insane? You could've got us fucking killed! Does any of that bug you at all? I could have lost my damn life! How would you feel if that happened?" Of course, he made no attempt to mention his jumping in to save her was completely optional. There was still some innocence left in him, no matter how much he tried to deny it.

    He slumped back on the ground, in a slouching sitting position. Orange irises glared at the tortoiseshell tabby before him. At her thanks, he responded with a mere, "Whatever." But despite the uncaring tone in his voice, it felt kind of nice to know he'd saved a life rather than take one away.
