    December ran into the school and through the halls. She stared at her hand where the combination for her locker was written down. She had moved, again, and this was her first day at the new Highschool. She was late, of course and was worried as hell. December stopped at her home room and slipped inside, taking a seat at the very back and at the end, where no one was beside her. She was praying that no one had noticed that she was late.

    Riley went to school on his skateboard. He skated in quickly and leaped of it, picking it up at the same time as he reached the steps. He jogged up the steps and went through the doors. He put his skateboard in his locker and took out his books. He put his books into his bag and went to home room. Riley sat in his usual seat at the back, he frowned seeing a unrecognisable girl in the seat next his.

    December glanced over at the boy that sat next to her and she uncumfortably shifted over in her seat. She pulled her hood lower over her head, obscuring her face. She stared at the plaque on the teacher's desk reading,'Mrs. Freidel.' She tried to focus on what she was talking about but nothing made sense. Nothing ever would because she always came to school late in the year. Her eyes kept darting over to the boy next to her. Why'd he sit next to me? she thought.

    Riley glare back at her with a frown. He tappe his pencil on the table quickly and shifted away from the girl too. He sighed and shuffled his feet then crosse his leg on the other -the man way- and sighed quietly. Riley kept glancing at the girl wondering why she was giving him strange looks, so he did it back. He assumed she was new as he ha never seen her before.

    December sighed, wondering why he was giving her bad looks. So she just turned her head towards the open window letting in a gentle breeze. She just wanted to go home and lock herself in her room. She tried to resist glancing over at the boy and tried to listen to Mrs. Freidel instead.

    Riley stopped looking at her when se stopped looking at him. With a frown he turned to the teacher and rested his head on his hand, bored. He wanted to see who the girl was an introduce himself, but she didn't look interested to talk to him at all. So he just sighed and stared into space, bored.

    December tried to keep the fake interested look on her face, but it kept fading as she stared at the posters all over the wall. Her eyes drifted over to the boy next to her once, her eyes darting quickly away though. "God, when is this gonna end?" she muttered quietly.

    Riley heard her in the silence. He grinned and chuckled quietly, shaking his head. He stopped tapping his pencil on the table and sighed, listening to the teacher but watching the girl next to him.

    December looked down at her hands, fidgeting with her neon yellow painted nails. She pulled down the sleeve of her hoodie lower to cover most of her hand. She almost never listened to the teacher in Homeroom, unless it was about something actually important. What Mrs. Freidel was talking about was not important and none of December's interest.

    Riley fidgeted and adjusted his beanie and doodled on a scrap piece of paper. He ended up drawing many random drawings out of boredom. Riley then secretly got out his phone and played a game.

    Riley played it silently and smirked, playing the game most of home room. He ignored everyone around him.

    December glanced at wall clock to see how long Mrs. Freidel's rambling would go on. She noticed that nearly everyone wasn't listening to the teacher. Most were just doodling or on their phones.
