Rainfur opened his eyes. Everything was a blurry mess, and he could hear shouting. Voices saying he's awake, and other voices as well. Was that Mousefur? Or Roseheart? He shook his head, the only thing on his mind being the bear and Creektail. The gray warrior had been seriously injured too. He could smell Eaglewing and he could guess that the anxious warrior was worried about his son. He thought of Soaringwhisker, and he felt a tear trickle down his face.

Mouseclaw gently licked his ear. "It'll be okay." she mewed softly.
-
He could hear Mouseclaw, and he felt comforted by her voice. He soon drifted into a light sleep.
-
She turned to Voletail, "He'll be okay, won't he?" She asked
-
Doubt flashed in Voletail's eyes, but she blinked and shook her head. "Of course." She meowed firmly.
-
Mouseclaw nodded and got up. "Keep an eye on him, Roseheart," she meowed turning to the she-cat. She padded back to the nursery where her kits greeted her with excited mewls. "Daddy's going to be okay won't he?" Heatherkit asked. "Of course," Mouseclaw meowed gently and curled in her nest.
-
Roseheart nodded and curled around her brother.
-
Mouseclaw's kits curled up in the curve of her belly. "I want to see daddy!" Shadekit complained, her tail tip flicking in annoyance. "Once he's better," Mouseclaw meowed sternly.
-
Rainfur opened his eyes, everything a bit more clear this time. He looked at his sister, asleep by his side, and started to purr. n He looked around for Mousefur, then figured she was with the kits.
-
When Mouseclaw woke she prodded the kits awake. "Let's go see your father," she meowed. The kits jumped up and down in excitement and rushed out of the nursery and towards the medicine cat den. The rushed in and tackled their father. "Easy, easy." Mouseclaw warned and swatted the kits gently off of Rainfur. "They wouldn't stop complaining," Mouseclaw explained.
-
Rainfur purred. "You'll have to learn to be patient in the future my kits, but I'm so glad you came. There is no company here, except the snoring bear." He teased, pointing his tail at Roseheart. He licked his kit's heads, stretching over his nest. He winced and pulled back. "Ouch!" He yelped. Roseheart jumped awake.
-
"Don't move to much or you'll tear your wounds open again," Mouseclaw reminded him. The kits ran around in circles, swatting at a moss ball. "I'm a bear!" Shadekit squealed. "Why do you get to be the bear?" Stonekit whined. Shadekit swatted at him playfully. She stood up straight and fluffed up her fur. "Because I'm the biggest!" she boasted.
-
Rainfur laughed at his kits silly games. He sat up and swatted the moss ball as it flew towards him.
-
Heatherkit squealed in delight and jumped up and caught the moss ball in her jaws. She darted back and forth as Stonekit and Shadekit dashed after her.
-
Rainfur turned to lick his wounds, and before he knew it he was hit in the back of the head with the mossball. He turned, keeping himself from purring. He made a ferocious growling noise. "I'm the bear now, and I'm going to eat you!" He snarled teasingly.
-
The kits squealed and hid behind Mouseclaw, their tail tips quivering with excitement.
-
Rainfur purred at his little kits.
-
Mouseclaw purred. "Alright, let's give your father some time to rest more." Mouseclaw meowed. The kits nodded. Shadekit looked at Rainfur, then at the other two kits. "Why I am a different color?" She asked. Mouseclaw froze.
-
Rainfur thought quickly. "Your great grandpa and grandma were jet black, just like you." He meowed, forcing a smile.
-
Mouseclaw nodded in agreement. Shadekit brightened. "Oh okay!" she squeaked
