  • [font=times new roman]OOC; Sorry I've been gone for a while! I've been really sick lately and I'm starting to recover finally.

IC: Tynan peeked open an eye, watching her peaceful breaths bring strange wavelengths across her stomach and chest. He watched her chest go up and down, up and down, her breathing giving off a hypnotic effect. His eyes drooped, an he found himself dreaming about a rhino that he'd seen on the news.

    OOC: Skip to morning?

  • ooc;; No apologies necessary~ sorry to hear that you haven't been feeling so hot D: I'm glad that you're getting better, though :]

    Sure~

ic;; Joey probably would have slept late into the afternoon, had she not been roused by a thunderous pounding against her door. She slowly sat up, glancing towards the source of the noise and blinking in confusion. Her hair was efficiently tousled from a night of sleep, and she looked as if she might doze off at any moment. She might have, if the banging against her door hadn't gone on incessantly. Annoyed, she threw the covers aside and climbed out of bed, dragging herself to the door and flinging it open.

"The shop is closed for renovation. Looks like you get another day off," her brother exclaimed proudly. She didn't respond for a few moments, simply stood and stared at him, an exasperated expression on her face.

"You woke me up to tell me that I had a day off?" She mumbled in a weary tone.

"Well I wasn't gonna let you sleep." The boy shrugged, before abruptly turning and heading in the opposite direction. Joey scowled in his direction, slamming the door behind him. She then leaned back against the door, yawning and staring blankly at the wall.

  • [font=times new roman]Tynan, by the time Joey's brother had left, was standing, awake, the furs on his back all stood up. The rapping on the door had caused him to fly up out of his sleep, but luckily he hadn't fallen off the edge of her desk, or he'd probably have hurt himself. He sighed with relief as her brother walked away.

"I wonder if he's told your parents about me," Tynan wondered out loud, a sudden nervousness taking the place of alarm in his little kitty cat eyes. He shrugged, stretching his legs out and yawning. "So what're we doin today?"

  • Joey let out a huge yawn, rubbing her eyes in an attempt to wake herself. She glanced over at Tynan as he spoke, her expression uncomprehending.

"I doubt it," she mumbled, walking across the room and sifting lazily through a pile of clothes. "They probably left home before he was even awake. Besides, he has the attention span of a four year old. He's probably forgotten all about you by now." She let out another yawn, pausing what she was doing for a few seconds to run a hand through her bedraggled hair.

"Well....um....." Joey thought about Tynan's question for a second, frowning slightly. What should they do? When she wasn't working, she was used to going to school. But since school was out for the summer, that wasn't an option. She racked her brain for ideas, but in her tired state, it was impossible to come up with anything.

"Well....what do you wanna do?" She asked, going back to searching for something to wear. "The world is an attraction and I'm your tour guide," she mumbled around another large yawn.

  • [font=times new roman]"Hmmm," He hummed, trying to find something, anything, to do. "We could...uh..." He shrugged, not sure of a lot of the terms that humans used. "We could go somewhere and just sit around. I saw a little girl in the 'park' watching clouds a day or two ago."

  • Joey thought about his suggestion, tossing a few shirts away from the dwindling pile of clothes.

"Nah." She finally shook her head. The mention of a little girl caused the previous night's events to resurface, and she suppressed a shudder. "There's...not much to do at the park," she lied. In all honesty, the park would have suited her just fine; however, ever since she'd found out about the "little girl" who had somehow managed to track Tynan, she'd felt a bit shaken. She would just feel a bit vulnerable out in public.

"I know!" She brightened up some, trying to forget about it all. "We'll go to the pound. I volunteer there every so often, and I haven't been a while, so why not go today?" She stood up, finally satisfied with her choice in clothing. Despite being allergic to cats, she still spent time with then at the shelter. It made her sneeze a bit, but she didn't mind being around them for a little while. Sure, living with one was out of the question, but she wasn't deathly allergic, so what was a few hours? "You like animals, yeah?"

  • [font=times new roman]"Yeah," He said, distracted by his thoughts. "Can you, um, go get my clothes from downstairs? They're hidden behind that, uh, thingy with the string that emits light when you pull on it." What he meant was 'it's behind the lamp' but of course, his ignorance got the best of him again.

He wasn't sure if it was socially acceptable to be completely naked in front of a friend, or anyone, nonetheless, due to a man being taken into custody for being nude in the streets. That same man, it seemed, was the one that stuck up his middle finger to the police officer. Tynan found himself staring into space, his brow furrowing as he tried to comprehend it.

  • "Hm?" Joey lowered the shirt that she was holding up in front of her face so that she could actually look over at him. She searched the room for a few moments, frowning slightly, before seeming to realize that he'd been a cat for the past twelve hours or so.

"Thingy with a string that emits light when you pull on it?" Joey smirked slightly, amused by the fact that he had chosen to hide a heap of clothes behind a lamp. "Sure, I'll be back in just a second."

She couldn't help but notice the spacey look on his face, as if he were deep in thought; however, she shrugged it off. If it was something really important, she figured he'd ask her. She left the room and hurried down the stairs, shooting an annoyed look at her brother's door as if that alone would keep him from coming out of his room. Once she made it downstairs, she located the clothes and quickly ran back upstairs, making it to her room without incident. She breathed a breath of relief, dropping the clothes in the middle of the floor.

"For the record, that thingy that emits light is called a lamp," she said, piling up the clothes strewn about the floor in her arms and disappearing into her closet.

  • [font=times new roman]He hopped down, and mid-flight, he went from cat to human in seconds. "I'm getting better at that!" Tynan said proudly, not realizing his body wasn't covered at all. Before he had the time to feel embarrassed, two large, black wings sprouted from his shoulderblades to hide whatever body parts weren't allowed to show. His face flushed and he looked at the ground, shuffling his feet slightly.

"Uh- turn the other way," He said softly, awkward to even hear his own voice.

  • Joey unceremoniously dumped the load of clothes onto the closet floor, adding to the huge pile of clothes already lying there. She let out a huff, gazing dejectedly at the floor--there was no way she would manage to get her closet door shut with her clothes spilling out into the room, and the last thing she wanted was for her mom to see the disaster that was her closet and make her clean it up. She glanced up at the empty hangers, as if she were momentarily considering actually putting them to use, then she simply shrugged, opting to shove everything as far back into the small closet as she could.

    "At what?"

Joey peeked around the door frame and into her room at the sound of Tynan's voice; however, what she saw was far from what she expected. Her eyes widened, and she stood frozen in surprise for a few moments before ducking back into the closet.

"I'm not looking," she reassured him, her own cheeks growing hot. "Just--warn me next time you do that, okay?"

  • [font=times new roman]He slipped the clothing on as fast as he possibly could, and whilst trying to get his pants on fast, he ended up falling down in a heap of long legs and wings. His undershirt, which he decided not to wear under his new sweatshirt, was on his head now and covered his eyes.

Quickly grabbing the shirt and putting it into a ball, he threw it across the room and got up to kick it under the bed while she wasn't looking. With a sigh, he correctly put his pants on and sat down on the bed to put on his shoes. "I'm okay now," He said, but his face suddenly scrunched up and he asked, "What is the purpose of these strings on the feet covers?"

  • Joey remained standing in the closet, waiting for the okay from Tynan. She flinched at the sound of a loud thud, resisting the urge to peek out into the room again to see what had fallen. It didn't sound like anything had broken, so she didn't worry about it too much.

At the sound of his voice, she let out a sigh, traversing her way out of her closet and somehow managing to push the door closed. She turned to Tynan, who now sat on the bed, scrutinizing his shoes.

"They're called shoelaces," she said, making her way over to the edge of her bed and kneeling down so that she was level with his feet. She swatted his hands away and took the laces in her own, tying them up. "They're there to make sure your shoes don't fall off." She sat back once she had finished, grinning slightly. "Remind me to teach you how to tie those," she said, standing up. "I don't think the sight of a seventeen-something year old boy asking for help tying his shoes would exactly be seen as normal."

  • [font=times new roman]Tynan watched, trying to concentrate on what loops did what, but he couldn't wrap his head around it so he let it go and allowed his mind to forget. He sighed, glancing over his shoulder slightly at the large bump under the hoodie that was the wings that had sprouted from his shoulders out of alarm. He sighed, wishing silently that he could keep the wings, because that would be cool, but he knew that humans didn't have many variations in traits, only in facial features and mannerisms.

The lump slowly receded in size until they were no longer there, and Tynan glanced up at Joey with big, curious eyes. "Let's bound to the pound." He laughed, proud of his little accomplishment with wording.

  • Joey grinned, shaking her head.

"Coffee first. Bounding later," she said, heading towards the door. "My parents aren't here, so we shouldn't have anything to worry about. My brother is shut up in his room, and I doubt he's desperate enough to stop doing whatever he's doing just to bug me some more. Just in case, though, run downstairs and head outside. Wait for me on the sidewalk, okay? I'll make you some coffee. We can eat on the way, if you're hungry."

  • [font=times new roman]Tynan nodded, making mental notes in his head and immediately heading out the bedroom door, navigating as confidently as he could through the house and trying to remember the way they came in. He slipped out the front door he remember coming through the previous night, using the lamp as a landmark that he would use to guide him there again if needed. He waited outside, sitting down in front of the door and tying a long piece of grass into a couple little knots.

He picked some dandelions and tangled them in the little circle of knots, tying it together at the end and putting it onto his head. He smiled, standing and looking at his reflection in the window. He spit into his hand, slicking back his hair neatly and grinning at himself. He quite liked this little patch of hair on his head rather than his entire body. It didn't require as much grooming, and he could wear handmade flower crowns on it.

  • Joey changed out of what she'd slept in and into a change of clothes once he'd left. She raced to the bathroom, grabbing a brush and sticking it in her pocket, as well as shoving a toothbrush in her mouth. She headed out of the door, hopped down the stairs, and skidded to a stop in the kitchen, pulling out a jar of instant coffee. To most people, it might as well have been dish water--the taste of minute coffee wasn't quite up to par with, say, Starbucks; however, Joey took her coffee black, so it tasted bitter all the same.

She pulled out two disposable coffee cups, filling them up with coffee. She hesitated for a few moments before deciding to dump some creamer and sugar into Tynan's, figuring that he'd like it better that way. Then, she capped the coffee cups, tossed her toothbrush into the sink, and made her way out the door. When she noticed Tynan, standing up and admiring his reflection, she nearly lost it.

"The flowers are a nice touch," she commented as she brushed past him, grinning widely.

  • [font=times new roman]The slender boy turned slightly, nearly falling over again in his clumsiness, and began to follow her. He didn't take off the crown, and noticed as they were walking, people were whispering and staring. Tynan just smiled at them and nodded, taking it as good attention, when a group of young teenagers who had been catcalling at Joey yelled,

"Hey, look at that gay kid! Wearing a girly flower hat out in public! Probably gonna go shopping with his sister!" Tynan, confused, tipped his head to the side and began to stride towards the boys, staring down at them when he finally got close enough because they were probably freshmen or sophomores in high school. Tynan couldn't tell, they all looked the same to him. Either way, he said to them,

"Girls and boys can do what they want, no?" The boys didn't respond to his words, so he went on. "Girls shouldn't have to worry about your hoots and hollars, and boys shouldn't have to worry about your judgement. Nobody should have to worry about your judgement. Live in peace with eachother, because life is the most precious thing you own right now and you don't wanna waste it being mean to people." Even though Tynan didn't know what gay meant, or what sexism was, or what anything really was, he found a few women clapping around him as they began to comprehend his statement. He backed away from the boys, side by side with Joey again, watching as middle aged women began to close in on the boys asking questions like "does your mother know you're being rude to people?" and "What's your address, you're going home right now since you can't handle being in public!"

  • Joey glanced back at Tynan as they walked, once again suppressing a laugh at how ridiculous he looked with the flower crown on. Still, it seemed to make him happy, so she didn't say anything. She took a sip of coffee, when she remembered Tynan's coffee. She turned to hand it to him, pausing as the sound of whistles and a stray, 'hey, babe!' caught her attention. She glanced over at the source of the sound, frowning slightly. She watched the boys for a few moments before deciding to simply ignore them; however, when she heard their next few remarks, this time directed at Tynan, she felt a spark of irritation towards them. She might have yelled at them to shove off, but before she could react, Tynan was walking towards them. She began to run after him, then hesitated, watching with a wary expression, simply hoping that he wouldn't try to scare them off like he'd done with the boys in the mall.

What he did, however, almost made her jaw drop. She simply stared at him throughout his little speech, continuing to watch as a bunch of women gathered around the boys, scolding them. After a few moments, she looked at Tynan, grinning in disbelief.

"I think that you've unintentionally just earned a new fan club. Don't be surprised when groups of middle-aged women start asking for your autograph," she teased, beaming up at him. They hadn't even made it five feet away from her front porch, and he'd managed to attract the attention of the general public--but in a good way this time. Joey shot one final glance at the group of women before heading off, handing Tynan his coffee. "Not even a week living as a human, and you've managed to point out something that most people don't realize throughout their entire lives." She shook her head, still grinning. "I think I'll keep you around."

  • [font=times new roman]Tynan smiled, puffing out his chest and carefully taking the coffee from her. He took a sip, his mouth scrunching up the hot, bitter taste. However, he didn't want to hurt her feelings or force her to chug down another cup of it, so he continued drinking it with a slightly pained expression on his face. He gave his best smile and finished the cup, taking in a large breath as if he had been holding his breath the whole time. He let out a relieved sigh, throwing away the cup in the proper receptacle and glancing back over at his friend.

"Humans are weird, especially the young ones," He began, taking a look behind him to see the group of young boys getting in a cab with frowns on their faces. "I mean, it's not like humans were born into a group like mine; focused on frightening people to death, and just, violence and bloodshed everywhere. Humans are born into a peaceful environment that welcomes them with the light of the sun as their guide. But somehow, people are screwing it up by being jerks to eachother. Killing eachother. There are legends about this foreign realm, and none of them could have prepared me for what I got." He paused, looking up at the rising sun in the distance, and he nudged her gently with his arm. "But meeting you was a thing I'm grateful for."

  • Joey grinned slightly at the expression on Tynan's face as he finished off his coffee, giving a forced and somewhat pained smile as he tossed the cup away. She wouldn't say anything for now; it would be fun to see how long he could

She gazed down at her shoes as he spoke. Admittedly, she was impressed by his views. If he was forty years older, a little eccentric, and balding, he could probably be considered some kind of philosopher. Honestly, it was sort of a refreshing change having someone to talk to like this.

"It's just the way we are," she said simply, as if that excused everything. "It's called human nature. There have been people killed and wars waged for centuries, and over what? Nothing at all." She shrugged, glancing up at the clouds. "I guess we're just not content with peace." She glanced up at him at his next words, a slight grin creeping onto her face.

"I wouldn't be so quick to say that," she said light-heartedly. "Give it a good week or two. You'll get tired of putting up with me."
