  • [justify]Everything was still and calm in Candor Headquarters. A few people walked and talked together, others shared a snack or enjoyed the warmth in the air. It was quiet, which was definitely unusual, but the noise gradually began to return as the members and initiates returned from the Choosing Ceremony. A woman stood in front of a tall, wide building, waiting for the others to return. Honestly, she thought they were taking quite a while, but she waited patiently for them to arrive.

Alice walked quietly along with the other Candor members, her face expressionless as she scanned her surroundings. It took her a few moments to realize she was analyzing everything she saw, trying to find a purpose and pointing out escape routes in her head. She immediately dropped her gaze and stared at the back of the head of the person in front of her. She knew it was dangerous to be Divergent, and she wasn't too afraid, but she knew she had to watch herself.
Then she smiled slightly. She wouldn't have to watch herself. She could already protect herself. She's be fine.
It wasn't long before she was led to a woman who appeared to be their instructor along with the other initiates. She stood quietly and waited for her to speak.

  • I'm sick of looking for those heroes in the sky
To teach us how to fly
    Together we cry, we cry

Devon milled about the Candor headquarters warily, watching as the fairly large group of initiates began to filter in in small groups. (Low muse for dis boy)

At some point every rose has to die

Alex strolled along- no, he strutted. Yes. Strutting across the Candor headquarters, he looked for someone to talk to. He didn't care boy or girl, but just conversation would be nice. He swept some dark hair out of his eyes, and then continued strutting. He had been in Candor for a year now, and couldn't wait to see the newbies that came along.

  • Alice watched the woman blankly as Candor was introduced to the group of transfers. She basically tuned out and looked around at her surroundings. It looked nice here. Loud, but nice. She was confident that she would pass initiation, so she wasn't nervous. Maybe her not paying attention right now would take a toll, but she was a quick learner so she didn't worry too much. It didn't feel like very long, though it had been at least half an hour, that the woman led them towards a big building. Blinking out of her trance, Alice followed.

Devon stood in silence with his hands clasped together behind his back, observing the newest initiates and wondering if they had all tested Candor; he knew that they couldn't have, there had to be one Divergent, and if there was, there wouldn't before for long. Devon's golden eyes were hard and his face was blank, his emotions locked inside of him; this had been one of the many things he had learned while growing up with people who refused to lie.

  • Alice waited impatiently for the woman to stop talking. To her, everything the woman was saying was pretty self-explanatory. Don't steal, don't be out past curfew, have good manners, etc. Everybody knew that, even Alice. But that didn't mean she was going to follow them. She had no reason to break the rules now, so she didn't dwell on it. The woman--the person who would be leading her initiation--let the group know where they could and couldn't go, then let them have a few hours to wander. She suggested they go in groups, but it wasn't mandatory so Alice set off by herself. She was a quiet person who didn't really socialize with a lot of people, anyways. Maybe she would be able to do and see many more things that she wanted to on her own, and if she just happened to meet someone, so be it, as long as they weren't annoying. Taking a quick look around once she exited the building, Alice picked a random direction and followed it.

Devon watched Alice leaving alone and, after putting a little distance between them, followed her. If she asked why he was following her, he could simply say that he wanted to make sure she was staying safe; however, Devon really wanted to see if she was Divergent. It wasn't that there was anything particularly off about the girl, but he figured that she would easier to get an answer from than anyone who had gone off in a group.

  • After a few minutes of walking and looking around, Alice could've sworn she was not alone. If she turned a corner, so did a pair of footsteps she heard some feet behind her. Her Dauntless-trained senses set her on guard, but she reassured herself that it wasn't the same person. Was it? Making sure to not let any emotion become noticeable in her regular, serious expression, the teen glanced over her shoulder and scanned the area for the people who were around her. She remembered as much as she could about what they looked like for a few seconds before moving on. She wanted to make sure that she didn't look suspicious, for that might make her stalker leave if there was one. Brushing her hair behind her ear, Alice continued to wander, looking at where everything was so she could gain a basic knowledge of what the layout of the Candor sector looked like for future reference.

Devon continued to follow Alice, either not knowing or not caring that she was aware of someone following her. He began humming, a rare occurrence that usually meant he was very uninterested in what he was doing.

  • After a few more minutes, Alice looked over her shoulder again, recognizing a man from earlier. He must've been following her. Definitely. She was sure of it. Alice stopped and turned around, her arms crossed in front of her with dark brown eyes locked on the man who she thought was following her. "Can I help you?" she asked sternly, her gaze hardening a little. She didn't care if she appeared intimidating or not. Maybe some the Dauntless blood in her would at least warn him away. She tried not to seem too Dauntless, though. Yeah, that's where she was born and raised obviously--she was still wearing her Dauntless attire--but she didn't want to make this guy call security or something.

"No, I just noticed that you were a new initiate and you had gone off to explore without a group; I figured I'd trail a bit behind you in case you got lost or anything happened," Devon said with a charming grin.

"No, of course not; I've never seen anyone from Amity who is so... beautiful," Devon's charming smile had disappeared from his lips, but it lingered in his eyes as he watched Alice.

  • Alice felt her face color slightly, but she tried to suppress it and brought her eyes into a glare. "So is this how you pick up girls? You stalk them, insult them, and then try to compliment them?" she snapped. "Just leave me alone, you creep. I only need one shadow." And with that, the teen turned to leave.

  • "Oh, no..." Devon called after her, running to get in front of her before she was too far. "You can't leave before I get your name at least."

  • Alice sighed and stopped once more, crossing her arms again. "Alice," she said shortly, then stepped to the side and tried to get around the young man.

  • "Well Alice, I am Devon and I will welcome you to Candor a second time for the hell of it," Devon grinned as the girl attempted to step by him, not particularly trying to stop her. "Is there anything in particular that you are looking for?"
