  • Ashia shrugged slightly while putting on a slim smile. She made it seem as though the had not really thought about why, but in reality she knew perfectly. As she made this action she mused, "I don't know..." before turning her gaze toward the more enthusiastic partiers. "I guess because It is actually hard to interact with the animals out there. Once they decide who they are interacting with, they don't seem open to including anyone else. plus they never do anything where it is really fun to dance. like there are invisible rules for how and when." Ashia did not say a lot of her other reasons for not being out there at the moment. She figured those would be enough. There was not need to mention yet, her anti-alcohol opinion, or to complain how the dancing was never her style.

IC: "Yeah, I know how that feels. Being a third wheel..." he said, looking at Fiatte and Ophelia. "I've only ever danced once. At Prom. It was a slow dance, more of a sway, actually... What kind of dancing have you done?" Xerxes asked Ashia, looking at her, his emerald optics flickering with curiosity.

Ophelia let out a low giggle as her obviously drunk mate padded to her side. Let herself lick his ear, the brown beauty flicked her tail over his back with a large smile and decided, "Come on, lets dance," She insisted, padding fowards.

Annabelle looked around, a smile on her face. Se was almost a trainee, and she was happy, "Hey GIYS, can I join? I think I'm late..." she told them, lightly trotting over to Xerxes. She was 5 moons, so she guessed she was quite young.

  • "I tend to like energetic dances, things that allow dancing in pairs, but also encorage individual dance, or to dance in groups of more than two. I also like rungs that allow me to be myself without following a specific form." Ashia admitted quietly. The things she liked normally didn't seem to appear much in proms for sure, and usually no one tried something obsurd like solo dancing or square dancing. "i did a waltz or something like that last year, but I didn't like it."

IC: Xerxes froze up in confusion. Three cats were talking to him at the same time! "Uh, yes Annabelle, join us. Ashia, that sounds quite interesting. You'll have to show me one of these days. And Mitzi, I would go dance, but I'm still quite sore." he replied to each one of them.

  • (I had been ninjaed and didn't even notice)

Nodding to the younger female, the copper-gold female gave unspoken permission for Anabelle to join the small group which had formed. This was a party really, and anyone should be allowed to join in. That didn't mean anyone should do it all, catnip was not the best especially for younger cats, but there were many other things. Since she had been talking to him originally, Ashia addressed Xerxes' response by voice the first. "You'll definitely see it sometime," she promised confidently. "It might not be today, but that depends on what kind of music plays, among other things." the Abyssinian did not state weather she actually would dance or not yet, there was in a way a particular mood for it that she had to posses.

The post was edited 1 time, last by Ashia Valerius ().

IC: Xerxes smiled at Ashia. "I'll be waiting patiently, then." he said, quirking an invisible eyebrow. "So, when it comes to music, what is your favorite to dance to?" the dark brown and white tabby asked, shifting his weight to his left side. He found he was leaning on his right too much during the conversation, which irritated his burns.

She shrugged. "I get that. If you change your mind, though, you're welcome to join us!" She was slightly disappointed that Xerxes didn't want to dance, but there was nothing to be one for it. "Refreshments over there if you need some!" She called back as she returned to dancing.

  • "I don't know what style to call it but it meets these criteria. No two-leg voices, syncopated, or rhythmic, Maybe not fast, but full of the potential for energy." Ashia explained with more enthusiasm than which which she usually spoke. Many styles of music could fit this criteria, and ashia chose by individual piece rather than by style.

  • (I am so very music illiterate. I had to look up the song)

Ashia let out a slight laugh. "Not at all." that melody is so linear, I can't feel a thing in it." the Abyssinian scoffed in a playful way. "What good is energy without change.?" to Ashia's ears the important things in the music repeated themselves over and over without going someplace, without creating a flow. it was not something inspiringly danceable.

  • (what I focus on in a song rarely has to do with the melody of the lyrics, but the accompanying melodies around them If those don't catch my interest, I may not line the piece)

Ashia picked out a part opening melody from Cique Du Solel's Alegria. It was a part before the words in that piece began. She only repeated it twice without going into the part where the lyrics were before stopping. the song did actually go on, but for her just that part had enough mystery to be compelling.

IC: The young Mortem sat, head tilted slightly, in awe of the song she hummed. "That would make me want to dance!" he commented once she finished, his tail wrapping around his front paws. Xerxes loved music. Any and all music.

OOC: see, I'm kind of the opposite. Music, for me, is a good balance between instrumental and lyrics. Though I lean more towards lyrics. It's like a 60% lyrics, 40% melody and instruments used. Lyrics, to me, are what hit deep. I love songs with a strong message, a strong story. Flyleaf is my favorite band. Have you ever heard of them?

  • (Nope. I did say I am mostly ignorant. When Lyrics do matter to me, the matter a ton, but they have to really stand out for me to even care to notice them. I am a fan of music artists/composers Philip Glass, Steve Reich, Laurie Anderson(strongly because of lyrics in this case), Lots of things that no one hears about.)

"That one is kind of dance inviting." Ashia admitted softly, "If I was dancing to something like that, I would try to make my movement tell a story." she went on to explain. A song like that deserved a really expressive dance, not something that fits but seems ransom, or something silly.

  • "Of course you can," Ashia stated, glad that they were now talking about a subject which she was actually better at. "Certain music, paired with highly representational motions can do it, but because of the content of the song, meaning can be put onto the dance through it," Depending on how interested in it Xerxes was, Ashia might show something of what she meant. It would depend on other factors as well, like if there was room in the floor nearby to try something.
