  • It was a peaceful day, just like any other normal day.
Members worked in the field while children danced around in circles, holding hands and chanting a nursery rhyme before falling down and giggling, then getting right back up to start again.
Many members were not present at this time, but returning from the Choosing Ceremony.
At the front of a small white building stood two adults, a man and a woman, appearing to be in their twenties.
They talked with eager smiles on their faces, glancing up every once in a while to see if anyone has returned yet.
Once they did, they waited patiently as a member led the initiates to them, waiting for everyone to get settled before they begin.

Lyra looked around as she entered Amity headquarters, finding it hard to fight the smile off her face. The air smelled of apples and soil, crisp and comforting against her skin. She will like it here. As she moved forward, her gaze continued to sweep the landscape around her. Music spynded, children played, and everyone seemed happy and peaceful. Her life can improve here. She can get better. Lyra suddenly felt awkward when she made eye contact with someone and glanced away, playing with her sleeves uncomfortably. Maybe it would be harder than she thought to get better, still, but she knew that here was going to be better than home. Or better than Erudite, that is. This was her home, now

  • Ryan stared at the group of the initiates, cheering. A rush of memories swept through him as he remembered when he was an initiate. Learning how to farm, making new friends, and enjoying the sweet serenity of the place when he had first came into the faction. He was sure that those initiates would love it there.

  • Angel tried to keep her head up high in the air, to show that she was proud to be there. Her hair held lightly around her face, and she wanted to put her ponytail back in. It just didn't feel right, going around with her shirt not up to her neck and her not hair up. She trembled lightly, holding onto her arm as she walked, and almost tripping over her feet a few times. She reminded herself that this was supposed to be an act of defiance, and the memory of her parents not even looking at her helped her keep her head high. She even smiled.

  • Lyra walked along, following the other transfers as they were led to the kind man and woman who were waiting for them patiently with warm smiles on their faces. She felt herself begin to smile back. She felt all giddy inside, knowing that the best time of her life would start today. Amity looked so inviting, so friendly, so nice. Would she make friends? Back in her Erudite neighborhood, no one her age wanted to spend time with her, only those who were a little older. Plus, she'd feel awkward just walking up to someone and asking for friendship. She noticed that the woman was about to speak, so she pushed these thoughts aside and did her best to try to pay attention.

"Hello everyone! Welcome to Amity," the woman greeted the group with a smile. "My name is Elaine, and this young man is Concord. We will be the ones helping you through initiation. We will not start today so you get a chance to tour the area. You may go wherever you like, just don't leave headquarters and don't enter any room with signs that tell you not to."

The man, Concord, nodded in agreement. "We just don't want anyone getting hurt," he explained calmly. "Please be back before dark. Dinner will be served in the dining hall. Afterwards, we will show you to your rooms."

  • Ryan lingered around near where the initiates were. He knew that they were coming out to explore at any moment now. He couldn't wait to meet and greet every single one of them.

  • Once they were released, Lyra weaved her way out of the knot of transfers and took in a deep breath of fresh air, not that the air wasn't fresh where she was to begin with. The Amity compound looked so beautiful, and she hadn't even seen very much at all. This excited the young woman. She was the only one of her friends her age to transfer here, so she was on her own for the time being but she didn't mind all that much. She could explore without having to worry about what everyone else wanted. It seemed a little bit selfish to her, but all she wanted at the moment was to have a little taste of freedom, and here it began. Better enjoy it while it's here just in case it suddenly gets taken away. After a quick look around from where she was standing, Lyra adjusted her blue blouse and headed for the orchards.

  • Ryan began waving to some of the initiates. Many of them were smiling, so he smiled at them too. He was glad that they had decided to come to this faction. He was so sure that they would enjoy it here.

  • Lyra saw someone waving and smiled, raising her hand to wave too. Then she paused and took her hand back down, her smile fading a little. He probably wasn't waving at her. No, this was Amity. This place was meant to be safe, peaceful, and friendly. She wouldn't be looked down upon here....... Would she? Biting her lip and deciding to take the chance, Lyra waved as well.

  • Ryan spotted an initiate who was the fattest away from him. Squinting just to see her, he thought that she was his sister, Lydia. He assumed it was her because they were about the same height, and she was also wearing blue. He quickly ran to her in joy, smiling as he said, "Lydia!" Then he began to slow down, realizing that it wasn't really his sister.

  • Lyra faltered and lowered her hand again. She was right, he wasn't really waving at her. "Oh, I'm Lyra," she stuttered, closing in on herself a little. "I don't know a Lydia. Sorry..."

  • Ryan crossed his arms. "I'm so sorry. I just thought you were my sister. She looked a little liked you, and I knew that she joined Erudite today. I guess I just had my hopes up too high, thinking that the Erudite had just magically let their initiates visit their family members today." He sighed, but then smiled at her. "But hey, you two do have similar names. Lyra and Lydia. What a cool coincidence." Then he let his arms fall to his sides. "Anyways, my name is Ryan."

  • "Nice to meet you," Lyra said quietly. "I'll, um....... I'll be on my way now. I don't want to be a bother. Good luck on finding your sister." The teen gave Ryan a small smile and turned to leave, keeping her gaze lowered as she went.

  • "Thanks. See you later, I guess." He watched her carefully as she left. Then he looked behind himself to check if Lydia was actually there or not. She wasn't. He simply shrugged and glanced around at the other initiates.

  • Lyra found her way into the orchards and looked around, relaxing a bit. The smell was calming and fresh. Cleansing, even. She felt at home here, alone in the orchards. The teen stepped forward and rested a gentle hand on a nearby tree, looking up into an endless tangle of branches and leaves. Maybe she could see more of the compound from there. Without a second thought, Lyra began to climb up, dodging twigs and other obstacles along the way. It was a difficult journey because she really didn't have much arm muscle, but she decided she would go as far as she could before stopping.

  • Blue eyes skimmed the new red dress she was wearing, and a light smile formed on her fragile face. Angel followed the rest of the initiates quietly, her hands gently cupped together in front of her out of habit. It was how she was taught, after all. She even flinched when one of the other girls hugged her, but hugged her back eventually. This would be quite a change, but it would be nice. It would be much more free.

  • Ic: Once Lyra got to the top of the tree, she stopped and situated herself so she could sit. She could see most of the Amity compound from here, and it was even more beautiful from here.

Ooc: Sorry for the short post. I'm in a hurry.

  • After a while of waving and smiling, Ryan had decided to just stand there in case anyone needed any help. He kinda wanted to be seen as one of their friends, not just some random, boring dude they had to oblige to. By the looks of things, he might actually be a random, boring dude. Either way, he just wanted to make things better and easier for the initiates.

  • Once Lyra was done admiring the view, she carefully began climbing back down the tree. She had a good plan to get herself up, but unfortunately, her plan for coming back down never completely registered until now. Trying to be as careful as possible, the teen slowly climbed backwards towards the ground. She slipped once, squealed a little while falling, then caught herself. She was almost there, just a few more branches...
