Rhea was curled up on the sofa, one hand resting on her horrifying, blushing stomach. She sighed in slight pain.

  • Cole came in, resting a cold hand over hers. "Any better?" he asked without hope.

  • Rhea looked at him, seeing his eyes black, but she shook her head. She suddenly flinched and shifted, clutching her stomach. Her lips were tight together to stop her from screaming in pain. Her back arched as if she would be sick.

  • Rhea looked at him, "Cole," She warned, "This may seem strange, but this is a great thing to me," she said, sitting back up. "And it's ok, he was just stretching," she said.

  • "It's not okay if it's hurting you," he said through clenched teeth.

  • Rhea placed her hand on Cole's, "It, is a he or a she, our.... Baby," she said, she didn't think baby was the right word. Rhea looked down to her stomach and smiled.

  • "Our baby?!? That thing inside of you is a monster." He took a breath. "I'm a monster," he said softly. "For creating it, I'm a monster."

  • Rhea frowned, "Yes, baby," she said. Se then sighed, "Cole, don't say that, you say that you don't want to hurt me, but saying that about yourself does," she said softly, running her hand over his cheek.

  • He sighed, her touch calming him down, as it always has in the past. "Rhea... what if it... the baby... hurts you. What if it kills you? What am I supposed to do then?"

  • Rhea shook her head, "I'll hold on as long as I can and you can change me, it'll be fine. Anyway you'll have a part of me,' she said, looking at her stomach.

  • "You think that's the same. That... that the baby will...will substitute for you? Rhea, if that baby kills you...," he trailed.

  • "No!" Rhea interrupted him, 'The baby won't kill me, but if I die giving birth, it won't be the babies fault but, you have to live without me and with the baby, so he has his dad," she said, tears in her eyes as she just wanted Cole to accept what is, and be happy about it.

  • How could you think I could live without you, he wanted to shout. You're my life, my world! But Cole saw her tears and reigned in his anger. He hated to see her upset. He closed his eyes. "I'm sorry." He pressed his lips to her forehead. "Do you need anything?"

  • Rhea shook her head, "I just want you to be happy," she sniffed a little, holding his hand tightly. She sighed and slowly but weakly shuffled down so she was laying. Rhea's face was flushed because she was hot.

  • Cole sighed, laying down on the couch next to her and putting his arms around her, trying to balance out her heat with the coldness of his skin.
