He blinked slowly, his amber-green-silver eyes disappearing for a long heartbeat. Confusion sparked up in them. "Are you sure?" His tail flicked nervously, and his claws dug deep into the cold, sable surface, frozen from the leaf-bare air. "I mean, it's my idea. You really don't have to go. You could get hurt by the Twolegs," he ventured, trying to get Thornfall to change his mind. Brilliantscorch really didn't want this pesky, boring, non-unique cat following him to only-StarClan-knows-where, PLUS it was on ThunderClan territory. Pfft. I have to get him NOT to go...

    "What if a ThunderClan patrol comes up? You might need to run for some backup," the tortoiseshell tom stated, using his absolutely convincing soothing, silky smooth voice to try and change the plain gray ShadowClan tom's mind. (Oh, how he hated using his voice like this.)

  • Thornfall flicked his ears crossly. "You know, Brilliantscorch, if you didn't want me to come, then why did you ask?" Without waiting for a reply, the pale grey tom turned around and bounded away from the revolting Thunderpath and disappeared into the brush.

  •
    Jeez, was I really that harsh? Brilliantscorch flicked his ears, embarrassed. Maybe he was a little too obvious. But he wanted somebody to cover his back.

    He tasted the air. He tapped his right front paw on the cold stone. Nothing. No monsters coming. Fast as lightning, he bolted across the ThunderPath, ending up under the bright red monster. His tabby body shook violently. He had never been this close to a Twoleg before. His raven-black pupils contracted with fear.

    And there were more Twolegs inside the monster! Screaming and shouting. The ShadowClan tom flattened his orange ears and crept back, tail flat to the ground, trying not to wake the sleeping monster.

  • After Thornfall was sure that he'd left the rude tom far behind, he slowed to a walk. He was annoyed. Why am I not surprised? Spottedpelt is the only cat in the whole of ShadowClan that doesn't think I'm a plain, boring ol' ordinary warrior. He flicked his ears and sighed. "Just the boring ol' pesky grey warrior." he muttered under his breath. "Just plain old boring..."

  •
    He thought he was quiet. But apparently not. Suddenly, the big male Twoleg crouched down under the monster and spotted him. The Twoleg yowled something at the other Twolegs inside, and pulled his head up, banging his head on the bottom of the monster. Brilliantscorch had never been more afraid in his entire life. Taking a deep breath, he let it go in one cacophonous yowl, loud enough to almost shatter his ears. Ow, he thought. But I hope Thornfall can still hear me!

  • Thornfall stopped. "What in StarClan's name..." he muttered, turning around. A loud yowl came back from the Thunderpath. "Oh, what did Brill get himself into?" He said, and he turned around and sprinted through the brush, leaping over fallen logs and ripping through shrubs. Finally he scented the rancid Thunderpath. He could see the largest twoleg, who was reaching for something underneath the monster. Brill. Yowling in fury, Thornfall dashed across the Thunderpath, ears pinned flat to his skull, and attached himself to the twoleg's leg, raking his claws through its flesh.

  •
    He was about to take another deep breath to yowl when--

    BAM! Out of nowhere, a streak of silver-gray attached itself to the male Twoleg. The Twoleg yowled in pain and shook his leg, trying to dislodge Thornfall.

    "THORNFALL!" he yowled. "YOU IDIOT! You're not supposed to attack the Twoleg! He wasn't doing anything to me! I just wanted you to distract him so then I didn't have to lay a paw on ThunderClan territory." He sniffed, and then he bolted out and yanked on the gray tail with his teeth. "Let's get out of here!" Brilliantscorch mumbled around the fur.

  • Reluctantly, Thornfall released the twoleg from his grip and darted away from the Thunderpath, speaking to Brill as he went. "Sorry, I wasn't sure if it was hurting you or what. You sounded like you were being surrounded by a pack of foxes, the way you yowled."

  •
    Brilliantscorch huffed, panting as he got to the edge of ShadowClan territory. He didn't even look to see if there was a monster coming when he crossed the ThunderPath. Oh well. He sighed, leaning against a tree and closing his eyes. "I'm glad you didn't come with me, Thornfall." The tortoiseshell tabby opened his green-amber-grey eyes again, looking at his companion. Before the plain grey tom could respond, he held up a paw. "I don't mean that by not wanting you. I'm just glad you didn't come with because otherwise I would have been crowfood without your help." He tilted his head a little bit to the side. "And I guess you DID distract the Twoleg, although I wouldn't have clawed it." He smiled slightly, but it soon dropped off his face.

    He put his front right paw back down and let out a hiss of pain. "Fox dung! Just the right time to get a thorn in my pad!" He crossed his eyes and stuck out his tongue, trying to disguise the pain with humor.

  • Thornfall didn't know what to do about thorns in pads. He knew nothing about herbs and medicine. "See if you can pull it out." he suggested.

  •
    Brilliantscorch sighed. "What do you think I'm trying to do? I'm just trying to find the best angle to pull it out from." His brow furrowed with concentration as his eyes suddenly brightened. He slowly grasped the thorn between his teeth and pulled--

    "OW!" he yowled, and a bright spurt of blood gushed out of the wounds, seeping over his aching pad. "Next time, I'm just leaving it in there." He licked his rough pad over and over.

  • Thornfall shook his head. "I wouldn't. If you leave it in, it would probably get infected." Not wanting to sound too know-it-all-ish, he added, "But I'm no medicine cat."

    (By the way, love your siggi)

  •
    Brilliantscorch frowned. "Hrmpf," he grumbled, "I guess that's true... Oh well." He shrugged, not wanting to seem affected by Thornfall's comment. Know-it-all... who saved my life... Pfft. Nothing much.

    "Wait... I never asked you why you were out of the camp in the first place." He cocked his head, waiting for the pale tom's reply.

    {OOC: Thanks! :3 I made it myself. (I like your Cherrystar one! I like the see-through red text. xD)}

  • (Thx, but Silvie made it. I don't have photoshop or anything cool like that >.>)

    "Oh, well..." Thornfall wasn't sure how to answer. He honestly didn't know why he had left camp. "Just to get some fresh air, or something..." he mumbled. LAME. A voice shouted at him in his head.

  •
    Well, that's a lame excuse... Brilliantscorch thought. He narrowed his eyes, pausing in his licking. "I guess I did, too, but I was also bored, and I didn't feel like sleeping in the sunhigh sun..." he meowed, waving his black-striped tail back and forth, trying to think of questions to ask Thornfall. "Do you have a mate?" he asked. "This Clan is so big, I don't know who's-who!" Brill joked, laughing to lighten the mood. The tortoiseshell tabby licked his paw thoughtfully, chuckling to himself.

    {OOC: I don't have Photoshop, so I can't merge images (curse that!). But I still love the program I use. <3}

  • (Oh, what program do you use then?)

    Thornfall nodded, happy that he could talk about his mate. "Yes, her name is Spottedpelt." he said. "I also have four healthy kits." He could go on forever about his mate and children, but he feared that he'd just end up boring Brilliantscorch. "What about you?"

  • {I use Picnik.}

    Brilliantscorch wasn't surprised that Thornfall had a mate. Most of the ShadowClan cats did. "No, I don't have a mate," he mewed. "And I don't really want one, even though I know a bunch of she-cats want me to be their mate." He sighed flicking his black tail.

  • Thornfall nodded understandingly. "Yeah, I figured you'd be the kind of guy that just likes to be alone." Brill not having a mate didn't surprise him. He always seemed like the 'I don't need your help' or the 'I can do it alone' kind of guy.

  •
    The tortoiseshell tom blinked. "What do you mean, I like to be alone?" he asked, confusion clouding his ever-changing eyes. Brilliantscorch was also slightly offended. He always liked some company.

  • Thornfall realized his mistake. Thornfall, shut up! A voice told him in his head. But he had to at least apologize. "Sorry, I meant that you seem like the kind of guy that-" He sighed. "Let's face it, Brilliantscorch, I'm terrible at explaining things. I meant that you seem like the kind of guy that likes his alone time, but can still enjoy the company of other cats...?" He wondered how Brill would react. Me and my big mouth...
