• Goldenstripe
    WindClan | Warrior | Female

Slow pawsteps brought Goldenstripe from the camp, her mind as blank as the shy was currently cloudless. Before she knew what was going on, the golden-furred tabby found herself padding along the rolling slopes of the snowy moorland. Since her mother's death, Goldenstripe had been even more shy and quiet than she had ever been.

Sure, Fatalfall had treated her horribly her entire life. But that didn't mean she was any less of Goldenstripe's mother. To make things worse, Goldenstripe hadn't said a word to her best, and only friend, Grasstail.

In fact, she had been trying to avoid him.

  • Grasstail walked along the snow covered hills. It may be odd to do so, which well, it was, but yet there he was, walking across the hills randomly. There wasn't any prey out really, no rabbit he could hunt. He had caught one before, and buried in hope to others, but he did not find others and forgot where he buried the rabbit.

After the defeat of no prey, he felt pretty bad. Lately his life had been a lot like this, parents not liking him, other warriors trying to ignore him, and not talking to his best friend. Of course he tried to talk to her, but lately he just hadn't. He sighed and scoped over the hills with his eyes, he saw another cat far off, he decided, though they would probably ignore him , he should probably go talk to them. So he started to walk towards the cat.

  • Suddenly Goldenstripe's paws stopped moving, and the tabby became suddenly still. Her eyes drifted downward, to her paws and the snow beneath them. Guilt washed over her, for not speaking to Grasstail the past moon. Another emotion washed over her as well, this was remorse for not trying to mend things with her mother.

A sob suddenly ripped from her mouth, causing the warrior's chest to heave. A moment later, she collapsed onto the snow covered ground with a sob.

  • Grasstail saw the cat fall, he gasped and began to run at the cat. He began to make out the figure as he ran, it looked like a gold cat... his heart raced when he got a whiff of scent. He began to run faster, the cat was his best friend, Goldenstripe.

When he reached his friend he said "Are you okay?" his mind prayed to starclan 'Please, no please, don't let her be hurt...'

  • Footsteps alerted Goldenstripe that there was someone rapidly approaching her, yet the tabby made no move to get up or even look. However, when Grasstail's voice sounded from beside her, the tabby's wails only grew louder. Guilty that she had been avoiding him all this time, Goldenstripe could not speak as her wails died down. Instead, she shook her head.

  • Grasstail continued his prayers in his head, but tried too look at Goldenstripe's face. He could tell she was crying, thank goodness, he thought she was really hurt or soemthing at first. He sat down next to her, not sure what to do. He decided not to do anything till she stopped crying, for he feared if he did something she would cry even longer.

  • It was when her friend settled down beside her that Goldenstripe looked up. Face washed with the shed tears that still trickled down her face, the tabby shifted closer to press herself into his side. "She's dead!" Came her wail, hardly coherent that she wondered if Grasstail had even heard her.

  • Grasstail just sat there for a second. It wasn't hard to guess who 'she' was, because, even thoug it would be rude to state so, Goldenstripe didn't really have a ton of friend, unless she had a life he didn't know about. The shock of his friend's mother dieing shook him, not a lot though. Him and her mother, well, at the least had been at odds. He whisperd "Shh, it's okay." trying hard to calm her down.

  • Goldenstripe could do nothing more than shake her head slowly. Her body wracked with heavy shaking, chest heaving with sobs that made her cries quiver. Tears glided down her face, staining her golden fur darker.

  • Grasstail said "Please, just calme down, it's okay..." he wasn't sure it was okay himself, not probably the same thing she was thinking wasn't okay though, he was wondering if Goldenstripe's was going crazy, her mother had been a huge jerk, and she was crying for her. He himself would be happy, but he had to remember, Goldenstripe was a lot more, well, pure hearted than him.

  • Suddenly Goldenstripe lifted her head, glaring up at the other warrior. "Okay?" She spat, brown eyes narrowing to thin slits. "My mother was killed! Eaten by something! I found her body! It was mangled to bits!" For once, the tabby did not stutter as she stood to face her friend. "My mother is dead, and you say everything is going to be okay?"

As soon as the words had left her mouth, Goldenstripe began to feel a bit guilty. Although her sobs had diminished, she was now ashamed for bursting out at her one and only friend. Head lowering to hang down, she said nothing more.

  • Grasstail frowned, he only tried to make her feel better. Soemtimes she cats were so confusing. He said "I'm sorry," he took in a large breath "just please tell me what happened, besides the stuff I already know." he licked the base of her earm trying to comfort her.

  • The tabby paused, taking in several deep breaths that seemed to calm her down. "All I know is that she was attacked and eaten by something... big." Tears threatened to fall, so she quickly blinked her eyes several times.

  • Grasstail blinked, eaten. He was thinking probably a fox or a badjer, but those weren't really big. bigger than cats, but not huge. He ignored that though and said "Well, um, that's not good." he wanted to hurt himself right away for saying something dumb, but he didn't know what else to do.

  • Goldenstripe had the urge to snap at her friend, to tell him that it was quite obvious that her mother being eaten by something was not alright. But how could she? He obviously cared about her, and wanted to be there for her. Otherwise he wouldn't be there, standing beside her while attempting to console her.

Instead the tabby heaved a soft sigh, sinking down into the plush layering of snow that covered the moorland. "I just... d-don't know what t-to do." Goldenstripe lapsed into her usual stammering, a good sign that she was beginning to calm down, despite the recent events.
