Firesky kinda froze.
"Well..." she trailed off. "Then what do we do?" she wailed. "I just don't know what to do!"

Leafheart shrugged. "I have no idea. If it would be easier, we could just keep meeting here at night, and then you could decide what to do...if it makes things easier for you."
-
"You know what? I'm going to run away. I have never liked the Clan life. To much violence and rules. I am leaving, and I would really like it of you came with me." She looked in his eyes. " Please come with me."
-
Leafheart had one last thought of his sister, one last thought of his clan, but he couldn't help agreeing. "Let's go, then. Run away." The tom grinned and then purred, nuzzling his face to hers.
-
She twined her tail with hers. She looked away from him as her father's orange pelt stalked out of the trees.
"I see you made your decision," he mewed. His voice full full of sadness. She ran towards her father and nuzzled him.
"I'm sorry Sunfur. But I love Leafheart, and I've never liked Clan life," she mewed.
"Then why did you become a warrior?" His voice was a little angry.
"I-I don't know," she mewed, stepping back. "But I won't be sorry I left. I'll be just like the ancient loner Ravenpaw. He never regretted leaving."
"You can do what you want. If you want to leave the Clans, then leave. He her ear.
"Bye father," she mewed.
"Bye."
She blinked her eyes and was back in her den. -
Leafheart sighed, having awoken from some sort of odd dream. He knew that he had met Firesky at Fourtrees, but had they actually had a joint dream? It was almost dawn. He figured maybe if he tried, he would be able to sneak out and claim he was going on a patrol. But how would Firesky know...?
-
"No!" she thought. "We didn't finish speaking!" She looked around. "Maybe I should leave tonight, when it's dark." She got up. "I should plan what to do."
After a while she made a plan. She would leave to tonight out of the secret tunnel and roll around in the mud pool right next to it. Then she would meet at Fourtrees and see if Leafheart would meet her there. If he did, they would leave and live... she still hadn't decided that. She couldn't live in Ravenpaw's barn, because cats would see her when they went to the Moonstone. So she couldn't go to the Moonstone either. She knew she would find somewhere though.
Firesky made sure she spent lots of time with her kin and friends. -
Leafheart sighed, going about his daily tasks, knowing it was the last time he would ever perform them. At one point, he had wanted to be the deputy and become leader of RiverClan, but those hopes were all dashed now that he was going to be with Firesky. That night, at moonhigh, he snuck out of the RiverClan camp, giving it one last glance as he headed to Fourtrees to wait.
-
Firesky walked in her den, fake yawning. She lied down and slowed her breathing. She kept her nose and ears alert to make sure everyone was asleep, then creeped out of the den and out of the secret tunnel. Then she rolled in the mud, gagging of the stench. Then she crept to Fourtrees. She was realived when she saw Leafheart. She ran towards him happily and nuzzled him.
"Ready to go?"
"Ready to go where?" Firesky whipped around and gasped at her sister. "I know you've been meeting with him! This is against the warrior code! I can't believe you're doing this!" Silverlight yowled.
Firesky looked back at Leafheart, hoping he would give an explanation. -
Leafheart's pelt prickled at the sight of Firesky's sister, and even he didn't know what to say. "We, were...um..." he stammered. His eyes were desperate. He was a RiverClan cat. If anyone could plead with her sister, it was Firesky herself. If Leafheart tried to give an explanation, that would be like throwing himself to the dogs. He would be shredded immediately. "She was...um..thanking me again for saving her from the river."
-
"Yeah!" She fake laughed.
"She's been thanking you for three moonrises?" Silverlight questioned. "Don't lie to me sis."
Firesky sighed. "I'm running away." she started. "With him."
"But what about the Clan?" Silverlight's voice was barely more than a gently whisper. "What about me?"
"I've never liked Clan life. And now that I have Leafheart..." She looked back at the brown Tom with loving eyes. "It's the perfect time to run away."
"We'll that's your decision. I'll tell the Clan that you're dead." she hung her head and turned to the trees. Firesky couldn't watch her go. She couldn't let the Clan think she was dead.
"Wait!" Silverlight turned. Firesky looked at Leafheart. "I can't run away." -
Leafheart sighed and rolled his eyes a little, his tail flicking. "Are you leaving, or are you not? I need to know so I can decide whether or not to leave." The tom was becoming impatient. "If that's your final choice, I'm heading back to RiverClan, and I'm not coming back to Fourtrees unless it's a Gathering." He stood up and began to head back towards the river.
-
"Wait!" She ran after him. Then she stopped and watched him leave. "Maybe it's best if we stop meeting," she thought. Her heart ached, but she knew it was best. She turned and fled, not knowing where she was going. Her sister pounded after her. She cried, her eyes filling with tears that blurred her vision. She didn't pay attention to her surroundings. Suddenly light blared in her face and she heard a screeching. She was suddenly aware of hard black stone under her paws and the terrible stent h of the Thunderpath.
"Firesky!" Her sister's screech was barely a whisper as a monster hit her and everything went black. -
Leafheart raced onto the Thunderpath, his focus only on Firesky. "Firesky...no...Wake up!" He couldn't tell if she could see him or not, and he nudged her with his nose. This was all his fault--he should have been the one to run across the Thunderpath instead.
-
Firesky slowly fluttered her eyes. Instantly pain seared in her front right shoulder. She looked at it and yowled in despair at the sight. Her leg was gone! Her sister awoke beside her and calmed her.
"What happened?" Firesky yowled.
"The monster crushed your leg. It was barely hanging on at first. So Heronfeather nipped off the last view pieces.
"Then where is my leg?" she whispered.
"She buried it."
"How long have I been asleep?"
"A half moon I think..."
"I missed Whitekit and Squirrelkit's apprenticeship?"
"Yeah sorry."
"Well... what about my future?"
"You will probably have to become an elder since Heronfeather has an apprentice."
Firesky stared at her. "No..."
Whitekit walked in with a poppy seed on her paw. She put it in front of Firesky.
"Eat this," she instructed. Firesky looked at Whitekit questioningly.
"I am the apprentice medicine cat, Whitepaw," she mewed.
Firesky looked desperately at Whitepaw. "Will I really become an elder?"
"I think so." Firesky began to cry. "Why StarClan?" she thought. " Why didn't you just take me?" -
Leafheart had been back at RiverClan for a whole half a moon, and had quickly settled back into the clan's routine he had become familiar with. He, during the time since he had seen Firesky, had become an uncle. Nightingaleshine's kits had arrived, and he was debating taking a mate in RiverClan. He couldn't forget Firesky, and the way she had looked when they had met. Shaking his head, the tom headed to the leader's den. I wonder what they could need me for...
-
"You ready?"
"Yeah."
Firesky had been speaking to Spottedstar about becoming an elder. The leader walked out of the den and jumped onto the Highrock, calling his Clan. Firesky got up. She tried to walk but she fell down. Silverlight squirmed under her shoulder and helped her walk.
Soon enough the ceremony was over.
"I wonder how Leafheart is. I wish I could see him," she thought. She limped to the elder's den and greeted Flywing and Dogspot. Then she lied in an empty, well-made, cozy nest and closed her eyes. -
Leafheart had spoken to Otterstar about becoming the deputy, and she had agreed. Their current deputy had gotten sick, and Otterstar was on her last life. So, if everything went well, he would be sworn in as the deputy, and then would receive his leader name when she passed away. But, even with all the success, he couldn't help but wonder how Firesky was occasionally. Hopefully she would come to the next Gathering.
-
Another half moon had passed, and Firesky was actually enjoying the elder's den. She liked hearing old stories, and she smiled whenever the elders disagreed about if something happened or not. She also liked being treated like a leader. But sometimes she felt like she was useless to the Clan.
Outside the den Spottedstar called the Clan for a meeting. Firesky limped out of the den on her own.
"Will I even be picked to go to the Gathering?" she wondered. She wanted to see Leafheart. She wanted him to know how she was doing. He was probably worried. But she found that she was starting to forget about him. She never would forget him and his love, but she kinda had a crush on Treestripe. She looked over to the tabby Tom and smiled. He smiled back a warm smile. She limped to him and sat down.
"Silverlight, Treestripe, Beestripe, Firesky, Squirrelpaw..." She looked up as she heard her name. She did a little hop of excitement. She lost her balance and stumbled to the ground. Treestripe smiled and helped her up. They smiled each other. Silverlight took her attention away from his green eyes.
"I'm so excited!" She ran up to Firesky. You better get rested!
Spottedstar looked back as his Clan. Then he turned and ran through the tunnel, his Clan following him. Firesky was at the back, trailing behind. Treestripe looked over his shoulder at her and slowed down, then helped her run. She smiled at him and looked forward.
ShadowClan was already there, Cobrastar sitting be dad the Great Rock. As Firesky sat, her ShadowClan friends all gasped and ran over to her.
"What happened?" they all gasped. She explained the story over and over.
"I think she's answered enough questions..." Treestripe meowed, taking her in the center if the ThunderClan crowd. She sat close to him and waited for the other Clans. -
Leafheart--who was now Leafstar--stood on top of the Great Rock. "RiverClan is here as well now. The Gathering can begin." He looked down at the cats, and his heart clenched when he saw Firesky, but he gave no outward sign of recognition. He simply curled his tail and sat back, letting Spottedstar talk first.
