Some things have changed, so i will tell you pretty much exactly what it is! 
so bare with me!
Every child who believes in spirit animals has one. But it takes time to find their Animal. no. The animals are not dead! they are simply animals that are linked with a human. What ever happens to a human, happens to their spirit animals the same the other way around! So, for example, if your animal got shot in the shoulder, something would have to happen to you so that your shoulder gets injured. Anyway, the things I've changed are.....well, really just the fact that you can shift into your spirit animal! but keep in mind, when you shift, you are connecting your minds even further, and become your Spirit animal! so your animal isn't there! you cannot be a horse while your spirit animal is still a horse! you become them, so their still there just your in there body! and occasionally there wild instincts take over your instincts. So, to sum it up--- almost every person has a spirit animal. there somehow linked to this animal, what ever happens to one happens to the other. if your animal dies then you die as well, but you can also link in to your spirit animals powers...like deers the person could be fast and swift and so on......
But, anyway! i know you guys wanna join! so, feel free to ask me any questions if your not sure about something! I'm always good with answering questions!

IC: 16 year old Aslay walked along the ally staring at the ground she pulled her hood up covering her face. she passed some teens drinking beer around a fire. she closed her eyes and walked faster. suddenly screams filled her ears and she looked up seeing a familiar shape she gasped, suddenly laughing joined the screaming. Tears sprang to her eyes as Aslay ran forward in time to see her father stab her mother with a small dagger. "dad!" she screamed and her father turned and smiled letting go of her mothers body wich fell limply to the ground. Aslay ran to her mother and looking up at her father saw he had been drinking again. Tear ran down her cheeks as she covered the bleeding wound on her mothers stomach. Her father started towards her the dagger raised Aslay closed her eyes and tried to hold back her tears as she ran from her mothers body away from her father. She relized when she opened her eyes. Aslay sat down on a rock covering her ears as her mothers screaming and her fathers laughing filled her ears "I will avenge your death mother" she said tears once again rolling down her cheeks. Suddenly a dove landed on her shoulder and cocked its head. Aslay remembered the story her mother had told her and smiled slightly. "hello" she said and the dove cooed "you....no" she shook her head "you didn't understand me......it couldn't be" the dove cocked its head and nodded...or it seemed like it did "you....did understand me!?" Aslay gasped. The dove blinked and fanned its wings as if saying "duh" Aslay shook her head confused but she stood up carefully, the dove didn't flinch she stared walking, the dove tightened its grip on her shoulder but didn't move. "your my spirit animal!" Aslay suddenly said "you have to be" the dove cooed and cocked its head pressing its feathery body against her neck. Aslay smiled but suddenly she tripped over something and the dove flapped up and hovered above her. Aslay groaned and pushed herself to her feet and looked at what she had tripped on......there it was, a deer laying on the ground dead. Aslay gasped and touched the deers furry body, there were claw marks on its stomach she looked around and saw bear tracks leading away from it, looking at the tracks it seemed the bear was dizzy.. or unfocused, the foot prints were zigg zagged and not straight. Aslay nearly cried "they......were my parents spirit animals......".............
