"jordan's right." kasen said, putting a blueberry waffle on hydra's plate. "we're your brothers. it's our duty to make sure our little sister is alright." he said, then smiled. with a quick motion, he poured the batter in the waffle maker to make jordan's.

"I guess." Hydra answered. She shifted. "Doesn't quite make sense to me, but whatever."

  • -kasen-

"here you go." kasen says, sliding the waffle on his plate. "taste it! tell me, does it taste like back then?" kasen had always been the cook ever since their parents died. he didn't mind it all though. he enjoyed it.

  • After taking a bite Jordan smiled. "Yes thank you." he said. He glances over at Hyrda then to Kasen. He gives Kasen a worried look, then continues eating his waffle.

kasen returned the worried look then looked directly at hydra. leaning in, he set his elbows down and hunched over a bit to get closer to her face. "hydra. okay. remember. you can tell us anything. and i mean anything. what ever it is. we'll be there." he said, then swallowed. he hated getting serious like that but he had too. hydra had been this way for a long time now. it had to be stopped somehow.

Hyrda held his gaze evenly with her unusual pink-violet eyes, then sighed, closing her eyes and looking down. "I am aware. The situation of recently is not one that I believe I am quite fit to infinetly handle. That is all." she answered.

kasen stood up straight, let his gaze linger over her for a few moments. he didn't look at jordan because kasen knew what she was talking about. and jordan did as well. kasen always loved his parents. dont get him wrong or anything. he cried at the funeral & yes for a few days after. but kasen was the type who got over sad things easily. as one of their family friends put it, in a better place now. with a sigh, he looked back at his own waffle which was burning it bit on the sides & flipped it over. never good with words either hm. kasen always thought jordan was a better speaker than he'd ever be. "im sorry. im sorry that this is happening to you. & i want you to try to remember all the little things they always did for us. when dad used to pick us up & fly us like airplanes. & mom's home cooking ill never match up to." he added with a little laugh. then stopped, looking at hydra, "i want you to try." he paused.

"okay. tell me what you thought about."

at first he wasn't quite sure how he wanted this to go. but now he knew perfectly.

Hyrda was still staring evenly at him, her face expressionless. behind those violet eyes, it was easy to tell the thoughts running a million miles a minute. "what I thought about." she intended it as a question, but really, it was more of a comment. "of course I remember all the things they used to do. The way they walked, the way they talked, the way they moved, or the way mom's dark hair bounced whenever she took a step, or the way dad's eyes sparkled whenever one of us did something right. how supportive they were. obviously, i remember." she paused to think. "what do you want me to tell you."

  • -kasen-

    ah. tough crowd.

hydra really had changed a bit. "remembering what they did & how they did it. that's what gets me through the day. & im alright, right? they raised us good hydra. smile for them."
returning his attention to the slightly burned waffle, he turned the heat off & slid it onto the plate.
kasen then gave a small glance to jordan. 'smile for them.' was a thing mom used to tell us if someone in our family died or when our first pet gerbil died.

Hyrda smiled, though it was as transparet as glass. The fakeness was apparent. She sighed and stared out the window as it started to rain.
