    "Um....Each cat has a soul...A spirit if you will. And when a cat gets hurt to live with the stars they....shed....their body to live freely in the stars. They'll be seen in body but they won't be responsive."Alice said struggling slightly.

    "The thing is, kits," Duskstar said, eyes soft. "Although your mother's spirit isn't physically here right now, she's watching from the stars right at this moment. Even though you can't see her, she can see you. From up there," he beckoned upwards, to the night sky.

    Burningkit finally understood. "So she- she's dead?" She squeaked.


    Moonkit hanged her head low.


    Pearlkit now knew their mommy was dead. "Who's gonna take care us? We have no mommy or daddy!" She mewed.

    "Shhh..."Alice hated seeing kits cry, "I'll take care of you."

    Pearlkit objected, worried about Alice. "But with the 3 of us, Nightkit and Bloodkit, AND rosekit, you'd have 6 kits. Isn't that alot?"


    Moonkit saw a point in Pearlkit's question. But thought Alice already thought of that.


    Burningkit sat down, like she had lost every ounce of energy in her.

    Smokekit frowned. "Hey, dont be so down. Itll all be okay! I wont let anything happen to you" he promised, nosing Burningkits shoulder.

    "I'm sure you'll be a handful, young ones," he murmured, looking at the three. "But you'll fit in perfectly." His eyes shone as Moonkit, Burningkit, and Pearlkit. Perhaps he was now the father of six kits.

    Burningkit smiled at him gratefully. Then she and the other two cast glances at each other, then nodded to Alice and Duskstar. "Ok."
