To a feline of short fur, the day was warm and pleasant - even if was a touch on the hot side. The wind was skimming across the river's aqua surface, setting a charming atmosphere around the Covenant. Yet to the thick-furred Mochakit this was nothing of paradise's sort - the blistering heat of the sun forced him to resort to panting in order to retain a reasonable level of heat, and he was still hot.

Boredom was also a problem. If he was going to do something, it was probably going to be outside of the shade of the nursery and when he wasn't in a den, the problem of overheating returned to him once again. So he lolled around in the nursery's darker spots, obviously trying to sleep but accomplishing nothing. Mochakit let out a long groan - if only someone would come for a little conversation at the very least.

  • Wish granted. The small tortoiseshell kitten padded in--Corkkit was back to her full health and was now four moons old, to her satisfaction. Spotting a strange cat-like creature lolling in the back of the nursery and looking uncomfortably warm, the kitten padded over, curiosity glinting in her greenish gold eyes.

  • Even with his eyes shut, Mochakit felt like he was being watched. He rolled over to face the entrance and ended up opening his copper eyes to see a young tortoiseshell kitten. Finally! Someone to chat with, he mused, causing a thin smile to curve through his maw. He briefly propped himself up, elevating a foot to scratch behind his left ear - a technique he learned from the felines of his Clan. "Good afternoon," yawned Mochakit, silvery-white teeth glistening as his mouth opened and shut.

  • "Hello. I'm Corkkit. Who're you?" the small tortie purred and padded over, taking a seat beside him. Corkkit watched him with friendly interest.

  • "My name's Mochakit," he chittered, ringed tail waving gently about. He gave another quick yawn and followed it up with a comment. "It's really hot today, don't you think?"

  • "Not really." the tortie eyed him shrewdly for a moment, taking in the thickness of his fur. "But I bet you're roasting."

  • The cub gave a polite chuckle at Corkkit's comment. In all honesty, the summer's heat was pretty uncomfortable, but why not joke about it? "I sure am, shame I'm not too good at swimming," he mused. "The water would be nice today."

  • OOC: Sorry I'm a bit late ^^'

    IC:
"I'd like to learn how to swim more smoothly. Say, do you know anyone who's a particularly good swimmer? Because I'm not," he purred, the mildly sarcastic tone of a joke lingering in his last sentence. "Do you think there are other ways to cool off besides swimming?"

  • "You could dunk your head in the water." the kitten suggested absently, starting to peel the bark off of a twig. "I do that a lot."

  • "Really?" warbled Mochakit - he found the fact mildly stunning as it wasn't something he would expect another member of the Covenant to do. His voice conceded a touch more seriousness albeit it clutched the upbeat humor from before. "Wow, I really need to try that sometime."

  • "You're right on that. Hey, I think I might want to try it now!" chimed Mochakit, flurries of excitement rushing about his mind and illuminating his copper eyes. The burst of joy was put on a pause as the cub noticed Corkkit's stick, and was replaced with his usual budding curiosity. "Whatcha doing with that?"

  • "Hmm? Oh, just taking off the bark." the tortie explained, nudging the now-bare twig towards Mochakit.

  • "Ah, it smells good - like the pine trees. But that scent is everywhere, we're in a pine forest," he joked, heading outside the nursery in a relaxed trot. "Gaah, it's so hot."

  • As the cub reached the watery surface of the river, he inhaled and grasped a deep breath before plunging his head into the depths - unfortunately for him, his eyes were kept firmly open and the initial dunking of his head caused a minor stinging reaction. However, he did see a few fish which distracted him from the pain. The wetness surrounding him caused him to grin and as he pulled his head out of the water. "You're right!" he exclaimed, "That is so refreshing."

  • OOC: Whenever I saw the turtle in your signature I couldn't help but think every post of yours was mine for a second before actually realizing that they were yours xD

    IC:
"The fish down there are pretty colorful too. Maybe I could catch one," he pondered out loud, wondering about techniques used for catching fish. Maybe if he stuck something on his paw and waited long enough, a fish would swim by and he could catch it! Yeah, that would be cool.
