• Greetings. I am The Littlest Hobbit Girl, and I've been on this site for nearly two years I believe. While I've aiding the building of many clans in the Advanced boards, I have yet to actually create a cat clan myself. However, a recent book that I read brought a unique society to life brilliantly, and I'd love to roleplay it, but exchanging people for cats.

Compared to Erin Hunter's Clan structure, and many of the ones existing on this site, the Clan I'm creating, based on the mentioned book above, is very different and complex in its customs and beliefs, to the point where I am worried those who join will not understand the extent of it. The success of the roleplay of my clan, (called Clan of the Cave Lion), will rely heavily on the members who can roleplay the thinking, personality, and customs of the Clan correctly.

Thus, I thought it would benefit if about five or six people who are interested in my Clan to discuss with me, so they get to know the Clan as well as I do before everything is put together and the sign-ups are open. That way, in roleplay, there will be a significant amount of people that will be able to help direct others in the ways of the Clan.

So if this intrigues or interests you, please reply to me. My only condition is that you will be committed upon posting and dedicated to the creation of this clan. Everyone has dreams that their clan will become popular enough to have a space on the site, and mine is like any other. You who joins now I expect to help me lead in instruction, plotting, and the continuing of this clan.

My second and final requirement is that you be advanced, for if you aren't it might be difficult for you to keep up. I will look at your posts and general writing style, and I will tell you if I fear you are not advanced enough. If you are considering this, I encourage you to take a look at my camp as well as my roleplay posts. That level of writing or close to it is what I require.

    Thank you,

    Juli
    (The Littlest Hobbit Girl)

I will gladly help, and if you'd like to peek at my recent threads like you did with Blueice, it won't work out so well, as I do not roleplay so much on here, but I can give you a sample if you want. c:

  • Hey there,
I could help you, also, with this clan. I am advanced, been in many advanced RPs before.
I have to say I'm a perfectionist and I take great attention to detail. Even if this clan has a lot of beliefs, I think I can keep up. Try me.

    @Broken
Fantastic! I'm really excited for this and I'll explain the basics as soon as we get another person or two. If you know someone that could do this, feel free to invite them. :)

    @Clari
Feel free to PM me a roleplay sample. I'll look for it. Also, I might delete some of your posts above, just to keep the thread clean.

  • I would love to help out, with anything of the sorts it sounds like a great idea. The main key to sucess when it comes to new Clans and such is to think outside the box and be different. Well, i certaintly would love to be within the circle of advanced players to make this dream a reality.

I'm usually semi-advanced because that is pretty much what alot of people in the community is. Though, i am advanced but i just settle for Semi...i was being lazy. :D

Hi! I'd love to help because it's kinda my specialization in making complicated clans with complicated belief systems. It's kinda my favourite thing to do... But yeah, I'd be willing to lend a helping hand, foot, arm and brain to your efforts

    XERXES & Holmes

Thanks for your willingness to help. I think with you two, my group is made, so I'll start explaining.

The roots of the Clan of the Cave Lion go back to the time of the Ice Age, as one can probably infer as such from their name. These cats believe they are descended from the great cat of the time, the cave lion, and their society has evolved around the need to preserve this heritage and please their deities, the most important obviously being the cave lion itself.

As a result, they are very traditional and primitive in mindset, with a mainly patriarchal community centered on smaller family groups. The role of the male is to hunt to provide for his mate and any offspring she bears, as well as any other family living under his protection. The role of the female is to be a good mate and mother, to produce young, and provide homely comforts for the males in her family group. She-cats are to be submissive to all males who are considered to have reach both physical and ceremonial maturity.

Rank is a concept extremely important to the Clan of the Cave Lion, for it establishes social boundaries and keeps peace in the community. As such, it is very extensive. For instance, there is the basic rank of individual based on age, sex and position, and the age, sex and position of its forbearers. However, there is also the family group rank, which acts as the basis for all other rank and the individual rank that can be taken by a personal achievement. The system allows for some cats to ride above others, promoting courtesy and the want to gain and keep rank for the benefits and respect it provides. The result of this is that Clan members are incredibly respectful by nature, with politeness ingrained into them from an early age. Jealousy, hatred, and negative feelings in general are discouraged.

The Clan is mainly led by a mysterious spiritual leader, who is always in touch with their religion. To ordinary members of the Clan, their deities and spirits are to be feared, respected and pleased. If done so, they are permitted to lead their lives normally and with fortune. That is why this spiritual leader, the Mog-ur, is feared and respected as much as the spirits themselves, because the Mog-ur is chosen to interpret the spirits' will. This is technically the highest position in the Clan.

The second 'leader' is the cat who leads the community as a whole. He is referred to as the Pride Leader, for he leads the toms of the Clan in hunts. His rank passes on to one of his sons. He can only be overrode by the Mog-ur.

I've so much more, but should probably feed the to you all in bits. :3

  • Wow.

I am truly excited, hah. Though I must say, this will be a piece of a literary masterpiece. Now, I would like to say sorry for not replying sooner. My mother made me go with her to take a tour of a University campus that i'm going to next year. ~Sigh~ A four hour drive. Anyways, I am very devoted to your idea. Very. I also love the ideas you coming up with, trust if I were to try to make a Clan (Pride) myself...it would not work. Though, I do love helping, so anyways you have full support from me.

P.S. The first time I saw that fancy above, I nearly jumped out of my chair! Creepy, but in a slight unique...yet still creepy. In a good way, my little hobbit friend.

Haha, thanks Xerxes. As for replying late, that's fine and I mean this for everyone. It is summer, and people are busy with recreational things, myself included. I might be entirely absent from the site for all of next week, as I'm showing dairy in an upcoming fair. This is still mainly development, and time wise my only worry is that people might lose interest. Otherwise, we can have all the time we want to set this Clan in motion. I also completely understand University stuff. My mum is always shoving pamphlets under my nose and my inbox is clogged with invitations to go visiting campuses. In my email I've even got a separate folder labeled "Uni Crap" because I'm just not quite ready to face the fact that I need to "grow up" and need to do so soon. I'm quite happy with days of writing and dreaming up ideas. :)

(And I do agree, the drawing looks very reproachful, doesn't she? xD )

  • Wow, I am so glad that someone found this thread because I couldn't for the life of me. Then I stupidly didn't remember your name, this will teach me to bookmark things. Simple as that. :-)

Well, is the Clan project still going to commence?

  • OMG!!(girl squeal/ guy chest bump) My dad shows cattle as well, it is like his life's hobby or so he says. Though all I see is cow, cow, cow oh McDonald's sound good. Literally! :) Though my dad has never gotten a higher title than third place, and that is hung and framed. Seriously!

Haha, I mainly do dairy. I love steers, but I need new steel toed shoes because they definitely break toes when they step on you! This year I'm just showing a calf that I found in the calf barn. I was leaning against one of the pens, talking, and she just started chewing my shirt. She was so adorable I started to work with her and now we're showing. xD I'm very attached, so I'm glad she's never going to be butchered!

    [/fancypost]

  • Oh wow, have you ever placed in your category? I really don't know much about it, all I ask is 'did yah win?', but I do understand about them stepping on feet. Especially when I was pulling one into the barn a few years ago 'One for the money' (His name, haha) stepped on my foot. Painful. Oh, that's cute have you found a name for her? How about Big Betsy, haha no. Congratulations, you've saved her life that is really great I wouldn't want to see her a McDonald's.

I have yet to place, lol. I've never really done shows seriously, so this is a new experience. Her name is Carrie's Hopeful, but I just call her Hope. :) Tomorrow and Friday are show days, and I'm so excited I can't settle down to sleep, which sucks because I have to be up at 4 a.m in order to prepare for the show. It doesn't help that I'm also jointly showing rabbits in the neighboring barn! I'll see how that goes! xD

Here's a picture of her, though it's really outdated. She's only a week old in it, and of course now she's pretty big.

  • Wow, that seems like fun it seems your excited and that is great you have a reason plus you adore that little baby. Though, she isn't much of a baby now but let me say she is positively adorable, since that is coming from a guy it means a long way. Showing rabbits as well? What kind? You are one busy whippersnapper (My grandfather's word he is obsessed with. xD ) I seriously wish I could go with you, it seems so fun all I have to do all day tomorrow..well today, is pick out things for my dorm room I'll be staying in the end of August.

Just make sure you keep your head up and through the nervousness have fun, it is probably still eating you alive. I am proud of you, you little whippersnapper.

  • [fancypost bgcolor=#FFFFFF; bordercolor=#000000; borderwidth=6px; border-radius: 26px;]

    [fancyimage]http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs7…obbit_child_by_tho_be.jpg[/fancyimage]

Haha, thanks. I'm not really nervous at all though, and I'm pretty relieved just for that reason! Even if she doesn't walk or pose right, I'll still be happy for being able to show at all. As for rabbits, I've got a Dwarf Hotot, Mini Rexes, and a big old Rex. They're really nice rabbits and I've shown bunnies for years and years, so nervousness in that department has been gone for years.

    [/fancypost]

  • I am glad you don't have the nervous jitters! Now that is actually past the time of the showing I have one important question I'd like to know. ~Clears throat~ HOW DID IT GO? Excuse my brutality upon the caps, haha but I am seriously curious. Cute rabbits, those are like a walk in the park to you now I have never had one though. Poor me. '3'

Ahhh, everything is finally over! I'm so bloody tired. Showing was fantastic though! I did so much better than I expected. Hope placed first and missed Reserve Champion by a hair, but she performed brilliantly. No problems with taking the show halter or walking properly. She didn't quite care for the cold baths at 4:30 a.m, but that is to be expected. The experience was lovely and I had a great time. I'm going to take a day off to relax before I get back into the swing of things at Warriors RPG. :)
