[size=9pt]Your stomach flutters nervously as you walk down the school hallway, shoes clacking loudly, the sound echoing.
Despite your nerves, you are excited; after all, you've been waiting for this dance for all of high school. Tonight is to be magical, almost like an alternate universe.
The sound of music grows louder as you step through the large double doors into a dimly lit room that you barely recognize as the gym. Opposite of you is a large buffet covered with food, and in front of you the multicolored lights the dance committee set up seeming to float on swirling fog. You smell roses.
And then there is a bright light on you. You shade your eyes to check where its from; a shadowy figure is shining a spotlight on you.
And with good reason. Because this is the night to take chances, since after this high school and popularity won't matter anymore.
This is your night.
