Swift wind looked out of the med den and sighed. There was no way no he could keep berry paw and soot paw apart. It was just berry paw looked so much like her mother. Maplebreeze would be proud of her only surviving daughter. He hoped beetle kit and honey kit were safe with their mother. He looked out again to see berry paw. Then went back to sorting his herbs. " oh Starclan watch over my daughter " he said. He looked in the pool of water in his den and saw a ghostly figure of a brown and white cat beside him" maplebreeze " he said standing over the pool of water as his shadow crossed the water the picture Changed and rippled. Maplebreeze was gone " no come back " he said. The water rippled again. And he saw two kits a golden one and a black one. Beetlekit and honeykit ! Maplebreeze stood behind the two kits. Swift wind let a single tear fall and spash the picture. It rippled and the cat and two kits were gone.

"Now berrypaw get some rest and we'll start in the morning ok" said Heatherstar to berrypaw.

"Foxfire I guess it's time to sort out the patrols ashpelt needs to have more rest so you you can take sootpaw for a tour of the territory" said Heatherstar.

Soot paw smiled at finally being accepted in the clan. He sat next to Ashpelt, buzzing with excitement.

Berrykit woke up yowling at the top of her lungs. She had dreamed that she was walking along and a brown and white cat that was oddly familiar stood in her way. She said " berrykit.....no" before rippling away. Then a black shape appeared next to her. It was sootkit. A roar shook the forest and she yowled " run sootkit run!!!!!!" Before everything went dark and a black thorn was thrust into her paw.

"Wake up berrypaw it's time to take you on a tour of the territory" said Heatherstar.

Soot paw heard Berrypaw and ran to her. He sat next to her comforting her. "Are you alright? What happened?" He asked.

"She just woke up late" said Heatherstar.

"No she is upset!" He said turning around but then going straight back to Berrypaw.

"Well I need to take berrypaw on a tour of the territory ok" said Heatherstar and she beckoned berrypaw with her tail to follow as she went out of camp.

"Ok" leopardpaw said. As she walked out of the den she saw Heatherstar and said"stop come here Heatherstar you don't realise it but you're expecting kits" and Heatherstar responded"wait what!!!".

Swift wind heard his leader cry out. " leaopardpaw come here. I need to tell you something. Next time let heatherstar find out for herself that she is expecting kits. Next time think ok " he smiled at the little apprentice. He saw berry paw and raced over to her. He saw a dark black thorn stuck in her pad. Is was like as black as soot. And is was stuck in her paw. Sootpaw! He hissed at the black apprentice and picking Berry paw up by her scruff he headed to the med den. He carefully removed the thorn. " that apprentice is trouble. It is a sign from STARCLAN. Berry paw are you okay ?" He asked his daughter. He looked at her his eyes troubled. His white and black fur was on end as he waited for his daughter to reply.

"Its okay swiftwind I can't blame her for telling me she is my daughter she would be excited for me and she will have new kin leopardpaw go talk to berrypaw she is your kin" said Heatherstar.

" I...........I don't know" she said before fainting to the ground and her fur turning black.

"Berrypaw!" Soot wailed.

Heatherstar walked away from berrypaw she now knew who the thorn was but she couldn't tell anyone though.

Soot paw ran over to Berrypaw. He lay down next to her and cried. "Wake up! Wake up!" He looked at her fur and turned to face Heatherstar.
