  • star had the urge to go save her son and leader, but she knew that would just get her roped as well. she gave a whinny of despair as she watched, horrified.

moon was looking desperately at the herd, his only hope. "star!" he called his voice deep with sadness and fright.

  • Avidan:
The human pulls out a gun and I realize I can't risk rescuing her. My herd needs me. I look at her. "Vascity? Promise me that you will return to the herd...to me. Please?" I plead, my voice low and grieved. How can I go on? Before I can hear her answer, I run into the canyon to protect and guard the rest of my herd.

  • Vascity promised him silently in her head. She gave a really hard jerk that's when the gun went off.

  • star stared, already grieving them. "COME BACK SOON!" she called, her voice full of pain.

moon froze his eyes with the slightest of hurt. his mother wasn't coming to rescue him, his only hope crushed.

  • star stared at her leader. will anything ever belike it was? she thought in despair.

moon couldn't believe this. he felt abandoned, and frightened.

  • Avidan:
I am under the canyon's arch and inside when I hear the gunshot. It echoes around me and rings in my ears like never ending thunder. I rear and scream. I come back down to earth, but I can't shake that horrible pain in my ears. I hope no one was wounded. I have to pull it together. No one needs to see the lead stallion distraught. I'm supposed to be strong for them!

  • The humans started to pull her and Moon away. Vascity tried to struggle but it only made her shoulder sting

  • star was broken up with grief. one of her leaders might be dead, her son, her last related family captured.

    moon whinnied with disbelief.

  • Avidan:
I bow my head. Looking up, I see Star. She must be heartbroken. I walk over to her and try to think of how to comfort her. "Star? Are you okay?"

  • star turned away from the horribleness. her mind was blank, she couldn't think.

moon stared at her as he was dragged away.
