• Sidera looked up at the star speckled sky, searching out for a certain one, memories ringing through her ears. It was a new moon, leaving little to no light to see with, though the dim glow from the stars caused her copper eyes to reflect like coins in the dark, and her grey fur blended in with the shadows, helped by the darker smudges.
"If you look really close... it's right there. See it? Now remember- if you ever get lost, anywhere at all, just follow that star, and you'll find your home."
The young apprentice's smile faded as she recalled what had happened after that conversation. Her eyes grew wide and fixed as she continued to search the sky.
"Mom? Mom, wake up- Who's there? Go away!"
She remembered fear, like an owl in the night, blotting out the sky above. She remembered her lungs and paws hurting from running, and she remembered the shouts behind her. But her mad dash for freedom hadn't been so bad- she ended up on a plank of wood, falling through the water. It wasn't long before that, she arrived at Sunclan. Except after that, it wasn't all that great either, not the entire time. She let slip that she came from a star, she started talking about it- why not? She had to be from a star, that's what her mom told her before she died. Why would she of lied?
"That's silly, your not from the sky." "Oh really? How did you get here?"
"W-we came on a falling rock- from the sky..."
"Did it hit you in the head when it landed?" "Can you fly too?"
    "...yeah."

She'd been pushed out of the tree that day- spent the majority of her kithood in the medicine cats den after that, not talking. But she was an apprentice now, her leg healed up right on time. Maybe she'd make some friends, maybe the other cats wouldn't think she was crazy. But she wasn't going to drop the idea that she was from space- it had to be true, thats why her family was all gone, they all went home, and some day, they'd come back and find her, they must be out looking for her right now-she just had to stay put.

The small cream tabby came padding up to Sidera. "Hi!" Ocarinakit mewed, excited to meet a new face. "My name's Ocarinakit! What's your name?"

  • Sidera flinched in surprise, placing her front paws back down on the ground- she'd been sitting on her hind legs to keep balance, while her front paws were curled up to her chest. She stared at Ocarinakit for a moment, startled out of her memories, and confused enough that it took her mind a moment to process the simple question. "S-Sidera! M'name's Sidera- Who are you?" She asked curiously, her light grey tail curling around her darker paws as she sat.

Ocarinakit grinned broadly. Score! Another friend! "I'm Ocarinakit! What were you doing?"

    ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦

  • She looked startled still, confused that someone was asking her what she was doing- not a lot of cats had bothered to do that after they decided she was crazy. "I- uh...I'm looking for my home. And the stars- I'm looking at the stars to...I think they're nice." Sidera explained, shuffling her paws and glancing around.

Ocarinakit frowned. "Darn." She mumured. "Do you come from that StarClan? I don't like StarClan. They take cats away from us."
In all honesty, that was the closest thing she knew as to what death really was. She didn't believe in StarClan. She just thought it was a place.

    ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦

  • "Star Clan?" She said, slightly confused for a moment "Oh- you mean- N-no. I'm not from Star Clan. I'm alive." She said with a small laugh, though a nasty little voice in her head reminded her that she shouldn't be. "No, see, those little dots up there are stars. Like the sun in the sky- y'know, during the day?" She asked, aware that her belief on the universe wasn't exactly the most common. "Well, those are all like the sun. We're going around our star, and then there's other things going around other stars." She crouched on her hindlegs again like a prairie dog, using one paw and squinting one of her eyes to point out a spot in the sky "I live right over there, we came here on a falling rock and my mom and dad and brother went all back home because my sister was sick- but I got lost." She said confidently, glancing down at Ocarinakit to make sure she was still listening. "They'll find me though, and then I can go home." she said, sitting back down. "What about you? Your from here, right?"

The kit was still confused. Naturally.
"Oh..." She looked up at the sky. "So...what, we're living on some burning rock?"

    ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦

  • Sidera sighed, wishing she was better at explaining this. "Sort of- it's got a cooler outside, but if you were to dig down deep enough, it'd get really hot. The sun is burning hotter than we are though." she said and then shook her head "I dunno, it's just what I think." Sidera shuffled her paws again "What do you think we live on?"

"On a beach!" She said, happier than before. Finall a question she could answer. "Duh! I mean, look at all the sand and those weird trees!"

    ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦

  • "I meant in like a broader sense-" she said, and then laughed, shaking her head. "Or y'know, the beach. That's cool to. I used to live in a really green place, before I came here. lots and lots of trees." She said happily, looking up at the stars again "and up there, I lived on a planet where I could fly, and do anything I wanted, and that's where my brother and sister live. They're going to come back and find me soon though." This was something she had said since she was a little kit- soon, always soon. Any day now. They would come back and find her.

"Flying?" Ocari cocked her head at the thought of cats flying. "But, can't only birds fly? And I'd hate to see lots of trees. More sunlight that way."

    ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦

  • Sidera's face lit up with the thought "Yeah, I could fly! And bounce on the clouds- the ones there are a lot thicker than these wispy things." She said happily, beginning to stare up at the sky again. "I-I tried to explain that I couldn't fly here, but some other cats tried to get me to prove it." She said sadly, and then brightened up "but it's okay, they didn't understand."

Ocarinakit was just watching her with her bright blue eyes. This cat was strange to her. Interesting, but strange.
    "What was your home called?"

    ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦

  • "Joao, it was gorgeous. The skies were light purple, and the rising sun would be blue- like the sky here, and at night, the moon looked like a plum- those are purple to, but darker." She said happily, eyes not even seeing the sky anymore, just the world she'd made in her mind. Jerking herself out of her thoughts, she looked at Ocarinakit "You don't think I'm crazy?"

  • ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦

"Well," The cream tabby shuffled her feet. "You're not completely crazy. Or...I think you're not." Ocarinakit smiled reassuringly. "I just can't really imagine another world like that besides our own."

    ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦

  • "Yeah," Sidera said with a rueful little smile. "I suppose that would be difficult if you've lived here your entire life." She stretched suddenly, realizing her legs were stiff from sitting in the same place for so long- it didn't help that she'd just finished healing from the fall out of the tree a couple moons ago, her hind legs were almost always stiff after that, if she stayed still for to long. "A lot of the cats here say I've got an active imagination. I don't think they believe me, but I suppose that's alright." Sidera admitted, her voice taking on a rather regretful tone.

"Well, I think it'd be cool to fly!" Ocari smiled, looking up at her.

    ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦

  • "I think it is, but my brother was afraid of heights, so he never flew much. But- you just grew up here, right? In Sun Clan?" She asked curiously, always thinking that idea was very interesting, that someone was born and raised with this many cats around- it had just been her family before they 'went home'.

  • ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦

Ocarinakit nodded. "Uh huh. Me and my brothers and sisters. And my momma, but I don't know what she went." It was the truth. Little did the kit know that her mother was now a part of Anti-SunClan.
