Chapter 1.

Wolfkit felt a soft nudging on her side. She quickly squiggled and curled tighter into a ball. The nudging got a little more rougher and she let out a annoyed huff and lifted her head. "Your awake!" It was her brother Weaselkit. She blinked. "What did you wake me for?" She yawned still slightly groggy from being woken. "let's go play!" He swished his tail fur spiked with excitement. "Play..? Now?" She
groaned landing onto her shoulder. "Yeah!" Weaselkit battered at her. "Alright..alright.."she sat up
from her laying position and pulled herself up. "Now where do you think you are going little ones?" A
voice made both of them jump and turn to look at their mother, Leopardwhisker. "Just outside."
Weaselkit mewed eyes bright and cheerful. "Is that so?" She looked down at her two kits with a hazy
smile and twitched her tail. "Please do bring back some prey when you come back Heatherfeather and
I are going to get hungry." She smiled to them. "Alright." Wolfkit smiled and stretched picking herself
up and followed her brother out into the clearing. She blinked as light filtered into her eyes. She easily
picked out Brightfur and Spiderpaw as they were talking about fighting moves that could need work.
Who would be my mentor? Wolfkit pondered over it and shrugged. "Wolfkit!" Weaselkit squeaked
making her jump from her thoughts. "Huh?" She blinked ears twitching. "I have been calling your
name!" He mewed poking her. "Oh sorry! I guess I have been daydreaming!" She smiled to him her
eyes scanning the ferns and then back to him. "About what?" He asked hunching a bit. "Oh well you
know..about who would be my mentor.."she shrugged fur pricking. "I have thought about that too!"
he smiled leaping into the air and then pounced back down. "Oh yeah? Who do you think will be your
mentor?" She asked chasing him tail whipping around. "Oh I dunno maybe Ratpaw when he is older!"
He thought outloud to her. "Really?" She asked narrowing her eyes. Ratpaw always boasted about
who was slower or less skilled than him and when he showed his moves to the other warriors he
always seemed so arrogant and angry when he was showed up. "Yeah I guess." Her brother lightly
played on a smooth flat rock. "Well I hope I get some one really amazing!" She smiled ear to ear."I
wanna be the best warrior ever!" She dropped into a crouch and waggled her haunches with a giggle.
"Never!" He leaped onto her back and they rolled. "I will be victorious!" He roared playfully battering at her ears. "No I will! "She toppled him over with a light shove. "See!" She giggled ears pinned back.
He giggled and shoved her off. "I see you two are outside without your mother." A familier voice made
them smile. "Father!" They shouted. The husky brown tabby tom chuckled his golden eyes bright with amuesment. "We wen't outside because there is nothing to do!" Weaselkit flicked his small tail. "I see. Does your mother know?" Horseleap scanned the clouds. "Of course!" Wolfkit huffed licking her paw. The older tom chuckled and cuffed her gently on the back of her head. "Be careful you two." He grinned before stalking away to Brookwing and Birchfur. "We will!" They called in unison ears perked. "Let's go do something!" Weaselkit swished a nearby fern. "Like what?" The young she-cat dusted her pelt off with her flufy tail. "I dunno..wait let's go there!" He pointed to a giant stone that pointed up to the sky and rounded like a toad's bottom. It had many scratches on It and It looked seasons had taken a toll on it. Even reddish spots were beginning to form around it. She nodded. "Alright let's go." She swiftly got to her feet and raced off not looking back to her brother. Weaselkit being as fast as his name was given charged after her his long legs giving him an advantage. They stopped at the base of the rock. "Wow.."she whispered and took a step foreword. She flet her paw sink a bit and she leaped back only to have Weaselkit give a rat like sneer at her and he chuckled. "Only paw prints flea bag!" He chuckled ears pricked as a breeze covered them. That wasn't it..she thought. It felt like a shock of electricty shot through her as she stepped down on the larger paw print.She blinked and leaped after her brother to the top of the rock. He was sitting a grin plastered onto his face still. She settled beside him and looked down. She saw Sedgefoot battering a bug that flew by his paws, Hazelcloud dragging a peice of dirty moss off to the dirtplace, and even Thornpoppy flicking his tail in annoyance. Is this what It's like to be leader? She looked at the sky and watched as the orange trees swayed along with green grass and bushes. Her heart stirred and lifted. I'll definitly be leader someday! She slide out her claws to grab more hold of the rock under her. "Let's go..I'm bored again." Weaselkit huffed tail fluffing with boredom. Well Weaselkit didn't share the same feeling she had with the paw prints and the site of camp and the territory. She shrugged and followed climbing down quietly. "We should bring prey back to Mother and Heatherfeather!" He started her by his sudden outburst. "R-right!" She was too focused into her thoughts. She shook her head to clear it and she yawned. She watched as her brother grabbed a bird half his size back to the nursery. "It's for Heatherfeather!" He yowled to her. She smirked and nodded quietly grabbing a fish.

Chapter 2.

Wolfkit woke that morning to Leopardwhisker getting up swiftly. She blinked open a wide shocked eye only to be met with flickering ones. "Berrystar called a meeting!" He chirped tail lashing around. "Yes now let's get going." Leopardwhisker padded out of the den. Weaselkit followed shaking his tiny pelt. She raced after them hoping to not be last to catch up. Berrystar lashed his tail and swiftly gazed apon his warriors. His gaze swept from cat to cat and then stopped as he looked at Wolfkit and Weaselkit. "I have good news and bad." He started his triangle ears pricking. "I will start with bad to get It over with." He sighed his pelt hairs rose and he looked very tired. "Darknessclan has just declared war on us." He sighed out eyes lashing out to those who would speak. "Why would they declare war on us? We have done nothing!" Brightfur blazed in anger. A few cats joined in the yowling as It grew louder Berrystar silenced them a single snarl. "I have only one idea and It would be that they are losing their territory." He sat back on his haunches. "Losing their territory? By what?" Stormpool paced. "Have you noticed last time we crossed their territory to get to the gathering place many Cedar tress were down and about. And we all greatly know that Cedar is founded mostly near their camp." Berrystar frowned. "But how are the trees falling?" Hazelcloud twitched an ear her eyes wide with wonder. "I believe the twolegs are handling this." Berrystar huffed and watched as a bird flew off into the sky. "And the good news?" Spiderpaw lifted his gaze to his leader's before gazing at the rock he was standing on. "I wan't to make new apprentices today." He meowed swallowing and then licking his chapped lips. Wolfkit froze. She looked up at her leader with wide eyes. "But It has only been five moons!" Brookwing protested her cries lifting to his ears. "I know. But I had decided that they will be fine and they won't rush into battle too soon." He let his fur relax. Leopardwhisker twitched her nose. "it's all so sudden!" She finally shouted and bathed her kits in licks. "Mom!" They squeaked and pulled themsleves away from her. Berrystar chuckled and urged them onto the rock. "You have reached the age of five moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Weaselpaw." He touched his forehead lightly with his rough nose. "Weaslepaw!Weaselpaw!" Cries tore through the sky of his new name. "Your mentor will be Rustcloud. I hope Rustcloud will pass down all he knows to you." Berrystar let himself calm. "Wolfkit."Berrystar looked down at her. She looked back determination shone in her eyes and her ears pricked. "You have reached the age of five moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Wolfpaw." He smiled and touched her forehead. "Wolfpaw! Wolfpaw!" She soaked in the gliding leap of her name being thrown around camp. Your mentor will be Stonepool. I hope he will pass all he knows to you." Berrystar stepped away. Both kits were bubbling with joy. She looked over to see Stonepool look back at her with interest. "So you are my apprentice." He said calmly. "Yes." She rattled her head up and down. "Well go find yourself a nest to sleep in the apprentices den and I'll be waiting for you at the entrance." He washed his fur and got up and bounded away. "Quiet type of guy I suppose.."she twisted herself over to the den and popped inside. She could already see that a few nests were taken and she noticed a decent looking nest at the side. She quickly walked over and prodded it. "I guess It will be fine." She shrugged and padded off to meet up with her quiet mentor.
