Wolfkit poked his brother playtfully as the dawn patrols left, "Come on sleepy head! You have to be ready for warrior training!" Wolfkit hissed.
"But we have to wait two more moons..." Sparrowkit mumbled sleepily, rolling over and curling his tail around his nose.
Wolfkit jabbed Sparrowkit roughly between the ribs, "Your future mentor's not going to wait till sunhigh for you to get your lazy butt up!" Wolfkit spat, "I bet even a kittypet doesn't sleep as much as you!" Wolfkit clamped his tail around his brother's tail and tugged roughly.
"Ow! That hurt!" Sparrowkit yelped, yanking his tail out of Wolfkit's grip. "I'm up alright? I bet even the most strict mentor doesn't wake his apprentice that way!" Sparrowkit spat, standing up.
"I bet that mentor would be lucky to get you up that way! If you keep acting like this, a kittypet will make a better warrior than you!" Wolfkit retorted, lashing his tail.
"Oh ya? Well guess what genius, I think one already has." Sparrowkit hissed, yawning afterward.
Wolfkit knew what Sparrowkit was pointing out already, "You know what I meant by kittypet!" Wolfkit cuffed Sparrowkit by the ear.
Stretching, Sparrowkit gave a single lash of his tail and muttered, "Ok, Wolfstar."
Rolling his eyes, Wolfkit lead Sparrowkit into the clearing.
Wolfkit's eyes locked onto a branch overhanging the clearing, "I bet you can't reach that branch over there!" he challenged.
Sparrowkit looked at the branch in shock, but then narrowed his eyes, knowing he couldn't back down. Padding forward untill he was directly under the branch, he leaped, and staring in absolute shock, Wolfkit watched Sparrowkit climb on with ease.
"That was an amazing leap!" Wolfkit exclaimed, amazed.
"Bet you can't do it!" Sparrowkit challenged.
"Bet I can!" Wolfkit retorted.
"I'd like to see you try!"
"Fine." Wolfkit spat, leaping up.
Wolfkit barely was able to reach the end of the branch, which was already sinking down because of Sparrowkit's weight. Unsheathing his claws, Wolfkit struggled to climb over.
"Oh come on Wolfkit, you jump like a badger!" Sparrowkit commented.
"Or you can jump like a bird." a voice commented to Sparrowkit.
The two kits whipped around to see a warrior padding up to them.
"All these moons, I've never seen a kit jump so high and gracefully." the senior warrior mewed.
Wolfkit could see Sparrowkit was honored.
"T-thank you!" Sparrowkit squeaked.
Wolfkit couldn't help but be jealous, "B-but, I made the jump!" Wolfkit squeaked.
The senior warrior nodded, "Yes, but barely, you have inherited some of your brother's skill."
"Thanks." Wolfkit mewed, dipping his head.
The senior warrior purred in amusement, "You'll make a great leader someday Wolfkit. I just know it." the warrior mewed, padding off.
Wolfkit couldn't believe his ears, "D-did he just s-say..." Wolfkit stuttered.
"Yep." Sparrowkit mewed, leaping gracefully down from the branch. "Ya coming?"
Wolfkit nodded, but didn't budge. The words rang in his mind, and pride swelled inside. He couldn't help but feel like what the senior warrior said was true, that someday, he would be a great ThunderClan leader.[/size]
