A lithe, white tom ducked beneath a bent over cat-tail, sitting on the riverbank to stare across the unclaimed landscape. He knew Darkclan was out in that direction, but that clan was so far they were no threat to Riverclan - which was good, because they had their own worries with the other three clans around fourtrees. Though the sun didn't penetrate his light coat that much, it was still hot against his skin, and he plunged into the water without a second thought. Kicking off the river bed, his head broke the surface. His pelt barely looked any different-as light as it was-but he certainly felt much cooler as he heaved his from the water to give himself a good shake.

Spark was still running; he'd been running for a while now, for a couple moons
actually. He just couldn't get far enough away, it was like his past was chasing
him. But there was always a time he’d have to stop, whether it be for food, or
water, or rest, and that was the time it’d catch up the most, and he’d fight to
keep it at bay. He’d settled on a rock this time, curled up under the shade of a
tall tree, not too far from the sound of rushing water and jumping fish, and
something he didn't know, but was Riverclan. His once pearly white fur was now
riddled with twigs and dirt, and a smell that reminded him of the cave.
He breathed in the smell of the forest, the scent of the pine relaxing him and
easing him into sleep.

The sound of something much bigger than a fish sent him practically into the air
as he stumbled to his feet, back-pedalling into the tree in a clumsy fashion. His fur
raised with his haunches as he searched for the source, noticing a much larger cat
in the water. He studied the other for a moment, before stalking forward through
the grass, over the rock, getting closer to the edge of the stream- but he didn't dare
get to close. He watched with intrigue, though. He hadn't seen another cat in a while,
surprisingly. And it didn't shock him too much, as his father had always told him
stories of what happened to kits when they ran off. But now that he saw another,
he was interested.

• [tt]Soundproof leaped to the opposite side of the river so that his shadow streamed behind him, setting his intense gaze on the water. There he sat, waiting...watching...until a sudden flash of silver caught the edge of his gaze. Lashing out a paw quicker than even he could see, a moderately sized fish was on the riverbank withing moments, Soundproof making quick work of it by holding it away from the water to snap it's neck.

His jaws parted in a yawn-it was only dawn, after all. Speaking of which, the dawn patrol would be out soon to patrol their only remaining shared border after Windclan had left. His gaze snapped up as he caught the flash of white, spotting the second tom. "Hey!" He yowled, lashing his tail. "What do you think you're doing so close to Riverclan territory?"

Spark’s tail brushed the grass, flicking back and forth as he grew anxious to be
seen, not wanting to cause something. But again, he stumbled back as the
other cat called out to him, looking directly into the brush at him. The tom
cringed under his glare, fur raising again as he sat up, paws still braced to run.
“River-what?” He questioned, ears swivelling back.

• Twitching his whiskers impatiently, Soundproof beckoned the young snow with a flick of his tail, disregarding the question. "You're a bit young to be alone around here," he observed. "You're lucky you'vent come across Shadowclan-you'd be crow-food before you saw 'em coming!"

•

He couldn’t help but tilt his head, not understanding hardly a word that was
said. He only settled in his spot, eyeing the water that separated him and the
older cat as the other spoke. ”River-what? Spark repeated with more
emphasis, wanting an answer, or at least for the other to realize that he didn't
understand, that he wasn't from here. This time adding, ”Shadow-what?”

• Catching the rouge's query, Soundproof stifled an amused purr. "You really are a young one, aren't you? Haven't come across a clan, either." He calmly lowered his haunches to the ground, taking a clean bite of the fish he'd caught. "My name is Soundproof. I heir from Riverclan, a group of warriors who share this here area with three-no-two other clans," he explained, nearly forgetting that Windclan had recently left.

•

Spark tilted his head, moving forward a little more and out of the grass, walking
along the edging of the river, hardly paying attention to what was being said as
he looked down into the flowing water, seeing the fish swim downstream,
with one word coming to mind- Food. As the other took a bite of what he had
caught, the young cat was a bit envious, ears swivelling back again as he sat
down.. again. ”I am Spark,” He raised his head as he introduced himself,
however timid and hesitant he came off to be. ”Soundproof is a weird name.”

• The tom let out a gruff chuckle. "You're not the first rouge to say as much. The clans use two-part names to define rank and abilities," he explained, nudging the fish' remains toward the scrawny cat. "Are you alone?"

•

Spark looked at the fish offered to him, and then to the water. The water served
an obstacle, one which he was not willing to face. It just wasn't happening, he'd
rather starve than drown. At he cautiously looked back to soundproof, he sighed.
"I-I'm fine," the young cat lied, before taking up the next question. But
he thought about it for a minute, not sure if admitting that he was would be
such a good idea. But then again, it didn't exactly look like he had an army to
back him up. "Yes, I am."

• [tt]The snowy tom curled his tail around his forepaws as he sized up the rouge. A fair size for an apprentice, he found. Perhaps the young tom could serve as a Riverclan Warrior? "Don't you get lonely?" he queried softly, eyeing his soft pelt.

[How dense would Spark's coat be?]

(cough spark is male cough. And it'd be medium in density, but it is a little long.)

Spark wasn't expecting such a question, but he kept his guard up as best as he
could, only flinching slightly at the realization that yes, he was generally alone
now. He shook his head though, not sure if it was in denial, but still convincing
himself it was to keep his image strong and proud. Though in truth, there was
nothing strong or proud about a lost kittypet covered in dirt and twigs. "I don't
get lonely. I am lonely. B-but you get used to it."

• [Sorry! I got confused with another thread :3. Oh! and I'll PM you the link to Brendan's tutoring thread after school, he wants to do one thread with both of us]

The young warrior opened his mouth to speak, but instead it sunk into a ragged growl as his gaze slipped to the side of the apprentice-sized rouge. Darting past him, he swiped out a paw at the bristling feline behind him, who froze mid leap to fall short, arching her back dramatically with a surprised hiss. "Forget about the borders so soon?" he growled, disregarding Spark a moment. "Try hard fish-face," the Thunderclan she-cat snarled, dashing away from the border with a final glare at Spark.

•

Spark's first reaction was to leap away and grip to the nearest tree he could,
struggling to pull himself up without any claws. All his time without them, it
didn't take long to adjust. It was just that, trees were much different from velvet
laced playhouses, and sanded scratching posts, and he found himself falling to the
ground after only making it a few inches from where he began. Still startled, fur
and haunches raised, he turned around to see the she-cat fleeing, and his gaze
darted to Soundproof, unsure of his intentions, but relaxing all the same as he
came to a few conclusions. "What," he breathed, "in the name of god
was that about?"

• The Riverclan tom flashed him a puzzled look. "I'm not sure what religion you're from, but that was about the warrior code, set by Starclan. She was from Thunderclan-one of the...three clans in this area. There...used to be four, but Windclan's territory was destroyed by a tornado." He paused a moment, unsure if the rouge was catching on at all. "The clans are groups that hunt for kits and elders first, and fight the other clans and animals to defend these hunting grounds." Pausing once more, he sized up the apprentice-sized tom. "And from what I can tell, I'm going to have to ask you to turn around and go another way."

•

Spark slowly tilted his head to the side, continuing to a point where he was
more or less upside down. Shaking it off, the young tom sighed. Go here, go
there, stay here, stay there, it was all the same to him more or less. Either
way he sat down with a small plop, mewling at the twig in his fur digging into
his skin. Turning around wasn't on his agenda, because whatever was back
that way took his father, and if it could take him, Spark would surely make a
nice dessert. He pawed at the dirt, looking up to the other cat. "Listen, I
don't have claws, and I haven't the sharpest teeth. I don't think I'll be too much
of a bother... I'm really just passing through. I won't even fish. I just need to
get away from whatever's behind me."
he hesitated before adding the last part.

The older tom craned his neck to study the young rouge, wrinkling his nose to scent his fur. "You were once a kittypet, correct?" The tom inquired, leaning back to wrap his tail over his paws once more. "Don't think that means you'll get off easy. Even Thunderclan would not be so daft as to ignore you, no matter how much softer those mangepelts get." He was silent a moment, staring down at his paws. Whether the cat was speaking or not - he did not know, nor care as for him the silence dragged on.
At last the young tom lifted his head. "You're off with no destination?"

Spark's first reaction was to leap away and grip to the nearest tree he could,
"Kittypet?" He'd heard that name before. Someone yelled that at him
when he was being chased through to these woods here. He'd ran so fast he
didn't even process what was being shouted. "I.. Yes, sure." He agreed,
still pawing at the dirt. What was asked next was a valid enough question.
Even Spark never wondered about where he would go, he'd just been.. Well,
going. That was it, if he just kept pushing forward he figured he would find
something. And he had found quite a lot, just not the most pleasant of things
all the time. "Well I figured going forward is better than going backwards."
He stated simply, as if that made total and complete sense. But what else was
he supposed to say?

His gaze lingered on the younger tom as he spoke, drifting over it's pelt. It appeared ragged and desperate...the older tom couldn't help but wonder. "So you say you're on the run, huh?" He addressed. "What exactly from, might I ask?"

"I'm not really sure what it is..." That felt kind of stupid for Spark to admit, but it was true and he wouldn't deny it. "Well, it's multiple things, surely." He said that more for himself to hear, voicing a thought. Sometimes at night, he did think about what he was on the run from, why he didn't just stay in that cave. The likely-hood of it being discovered was slim, and his dad... his dad was far away that night that it happened, not even close enough for the kit to have come running to him, just close enough to hear. And it was more than likely that those sounds were what he was running from, still finding them echo and reverb off the damp, mossy stone walls. Taking a deep breath to clear his thoughts, he sat up. "another moon doesn't make a difference. If you want me to go, I shall. I just wanted to rest."
