    "Rangerstar's a busy cat, but I can help you out," Photoflash meowed, padding over to Shiver and sitting back on his haunches. "Anyone can join, but I have to ask you a few questions first. How did you hear about RiverClan, and why do you want to join?" the deputy asked.

    " I didnt hear about riverclan from anyone, I just got sick of my owners and found this place, and it looked cool. And I want to join because I dont have anywhere else to go, since my owners were moving today and probably already left without me." She mewed softly, looking down at the ground.

    Photoflash nodded, feeling affection and sympathy for the she-cat. "You are welcome to join us if you swear your loyalty. Could you tell me your age? Then I'll explain the basics of the Clan and your duties," the deputy meowed.

    "This cat would like to join us," Photoflash answered, dipping his head in greeting to Colorfeather. "All right. You'll be an apprentice, meaning you'll be training with a mentor in hunting, fighting, and swimming for a few moons until your mentor thinks you're ready to become a warrior. Kits usually become apprentices at six moons, apprentices usually become warriors at twelve moons. There are lifeguards, head lifeguards, deputies, and leaders," he explained. "I'm a deputy. You must hunt for Clanmates before yourself and defend your Clan in battle. Fight and act honorably and do not harm a kit. Does that make sense so far?" the brown and white tabby asked.
