Cole looked around nervously before saying in a low voice "I am afraid of the dark too."

Kathy stomped into the classroom and sat down. There were still traces of tears on her face.

Cole smiled but it quickly disappeared when he noticed Kathy walking in, the tears on her cheeks. "Why are you so sad, Kathy?" He asked, tilting his head and frowning.

"My Mom is a meanie." She sighed.

"Why is your mommy a meanie?" He asked. He hated seeing anybody sad especially his friends. Whenever his sister cries he tries to do everything he can to make her feel better again.

Kathy sighed knowing it was too difficult to explain. "She said when I'm older she's gonna have another little sister for me, even though that one could die too and I'm scared." Kathy explained.

"You shouldn't be scared. Everything is going to turn out okay. You'll see." Cole said, hoping that would make her feel better.
Cole trying to be the optimist but everything goes downhill after 5th grade

"I guess...she did say when I was in 6th grade so that's a pretty long time from now.." Kathy started to feel a little bit better.

"That's a long time..." Cole said as he began to think about what it would be like.

"I'm going to a giraffe zoo when I get older!" Kathy started to get a more enthusiastic tone again.

"Oooo giraffes..." Cole said, laughing. "Who doesn't like giraffes?"

"Julia." Kathy could answer to that. -
"Oh." Was all Cole could say. He had forgotten about the time she had said that she hated giraffes. "That's not nice of her..." He said, shaking his head.

"Me and Jaden think she's a meanie!" Kathy said.

Cole nodded in agreement. "Me too." He said, furrowing his eyebrows and crossing his arms.
